  1. the issue is i know your right..... i need to design the cheapest rig to fit 6 drives now but up to 8.... issue is everything needs to be changed i.e. case / mobo / processor / ram sigh, looks like i have to start at the beginning...
  2. Hi just wondering does anyone use a type of USB enclosure for multiple drives? My current setup only allows for 4 drives internally and I wanted to add another 4. The new 8TB drives I just purchased have their own enclosures, but i wanted ideally to have them in 1 central enclosure. Don't have the dosh right now to build a new rig Any thoughts?
  3. it's just until I can afford a big case | mobo | cpu replacement..... 6 x 8TB drives just wiped me out itimpi your sig, 18+ drives.... wow... big case?
  4. thanks, I plan to have a few 8TB USB3 devices in the raid set however notice the response above to USB is there any reason?
  5. Hi, I'll soon be purchasing unraid but have a couple of questions first I'll soon be starting to populate the new array with data. At some point over the Christmas period I will be building a new RIG and then moving the HDDs and USB to it. 1. Can you see any issue with moving both the USB and HDDs to new hardware..? in relation to licence | data and usability..? 2. If for some reason the USB dies, do I loose all my config | data or does it keep info on the HDDs too..? 3. Is there a way to duplicate the USB like I will be doing for cache | parity..? thanks
  6. It's historical why I have so many USB 3 devices. Also all of them currently provide storage to my main Kodi | Plex server without issue..... Can't even take the drives out as they are WD Passport drives and don't have on board SATA!!!! The issue I'm now running into is that I have no redundancy | RAID on my setup (yes I know it's not a backup, however to mirror this setup I would need to spend upwards in the region of £500+)
  7. So i have 8 x 4TB USB WD passport drives, 3 x 4TB internal drives and 1 x 600GB SSD. Is there a limitation on how many USB drives I can use, if I can use them at all? I was planning on having 2 internal drives as parity and the SSD as cache . thoughts would be appreciated.
