  1. I reattempted the upgrade. There seems to be an issue with network timing after the upgrade, upon the first re-boot I was able to get an address with DHCP. Then upon a re-boot non-gui I ended up with a default IP/16. I setup as static, it works but with a long wait to start the networking, aprox one min after the login comes up on the server the network activates. I can upload logs if required.
  2. I do have a second NIC and was looking at bonding them, have not had the free time to try after upgrading my switch to the cisco (was a free upgrade), I couldn't get it working with my old TP-Link switch. I re-upgraded with no hicups, working correctly now. Not sure what happened. Thank you for the replies.
  3. I'll try the upgrade again, after the upgrade I was unable to obtain an IP address. Link would drop partway through the boot. Reverting to 6.8.0 and I was able to get networking working again, after correcting some issues from the downgrade.
  4. I upgraded to 6.8.2 and saw on the change log that some Intel NIC's are no longer supported, my NIC was in the same series and didn't work. I have been using the intel Pro/1000's for years, stable and reliable. I tried my onboard Realtek NIC with no success. What would be a good replacement that is current so I hopefully don't have this issue again? I don't need 10G as I am running an older Cisco 2960-X and don't see a reason to upgrade for my home network. Server is an E3-1230 V2 with 32GB memory and LSI-9211-8 with 6 4TB drives and an ssd cache drive. It's getting a bit long in the tooth but it serves it's purpose.
  5. I upgraded from 6.8.0 to 6.8.2, i read the change log and saw that support for some Intel PCI NIC's was removed. I have a 82541PI NIC installed and wasn't sure if it would work. I performed the upgrade and it didn't work, so I logged in to the server and downgraded back to 6.8.0. After the downgrade the hostname changed to Tower, causing my virtually static IP mapping to fail so it came up with the wrong IP address. I recreated the virtual static mapping. Then I found that even though I am getting the correct IP address now there is no DNS info showing on the network settings page. DNS is not functioning, cannot resolve names now. As well since the downgrade the server locks up frequently with no warning. What supported NIC's are current? Is there a list available? Then I can re-apply the update and hopefully get the server working correctly again.
