Ryzen 3000 series build / Struggling with PCI-e lanes
phat_cow replied to flaggart's topic in Motherboards and CPUs
Anyone here have a Ryzen 3000, Gigabyte X570 board and a Nvidia GPU? I upgraded to a Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro Wifi and 3900x. I used my old GPU, a 980GTX from my old computer abd for some reason I can't successfully install the drivers (Error code 43). I'm trying to figure out if its this motherboard. I want to buy another GPU but I don't know if I will have the same issue if i get another nvidia card.... -
Don’t get a gigabyte x570 Aorus pro wifi. It’s very unraid friendly.
-
Sweet! Got it working! I had switched my secondary drives from VirtIO to SCSI launched VM to install drivers. If I change my primary to SCSI my VM bootloops. I had to create a new VM and it worked! Does it matter if I use discard='unmap'? It seems to work with or without it. Also my drivers are all physical disks and not vdisk files so I'm not sure if that matters. Drives C, G and H are SSDs and my D drive is a NVME SSD. I didn't add discard='unmap' yet.
-
Do I need to add the discard='unmap' if I'm passing the physical disk to unraid?
-
I got this fixed.i thought I deleted this thread.sorry
-
I have 2 SSD drives passed through my Win10 VM but for some reason my primary drive C says "Optimization not available" and my G drive is recognized as a Hard disk instead of a SSD. How can I fix this? All drives are setup as VirtIO drives.
-
Strange thing happened a couple of days ago and I can't figure out what is going on. Ever since I removed my NVME drive my win10 vm gets no display. Zero settings changed in unraid and in BIOS. This is so weird! -I tried creating a new VM and still doesn't work but VNC works fine. -tried different display port and hdmi port -if i change the primary gpu from iGPU to PEG or Auto I get display but i won't be able to passthrough this way. So, right now I'm not sure what is going on. Can't be the GPU since it works when i set it as a primary GPU. Ryzen 3000 series build / Struggling with PCI-e lanes
phat_cow replied to flaggart's topic in Motherboards and CPUs
You have a usb controller in group 9 and 16. Does that mean one of the usb controllers can be passed through to a VM without affecting the unraid flash drive? -

With the cards you have.... Does that mean your primary pcie x16 will run at 8x? -

Thanks! This will be the most expensive build I have ever built and I'm super excited about it! -

Do you know if the USB 2 are on a separate controller or are they all combined? If it's on a separate controller I can save a pcie slot. -

I think I'll go with this one too since it has more m. 2 slots. -

How many pcie cards do you have installed in your system. I plan on having a gpu via pcie x16, usb controller, and Dell perc in it mode and made another gpu in pcie 1x (riser card). -

Plz keep us posted! I'm looking for a X570 mobo for my gaming nas build. -
Ordered a Ryzen 3900X and 32gb of 3866MHz ram but not sure on which motherboard to get. Would like a board that can hold a GPU, my Sas card and maybe a USB card. This is for my Gaming Nas.

Building a new ryzen 2 build next month. CPU: Ryzen 3900+ Motherboard: ASROCK X570 Taichi Drives: 9x8TB WD White labeled drives, 3x NVME, 4 SSD Graphics: GTX 980 (Plan on upgrading this in the future) Ram: 32GB 2x16gb or 4x8GB depending on motherboard (Daisy chain or T-Topology) Fans: 4-5 140mm RGB: Maybe Will a 750W 80+ Gold Power supply be sufficient in Watts and Amps? I really don't know how much power these draws when full load.

Send one to me and I'll test it for you

If I'm building a gaming nas with the new ryzen 3000 cpu. Does that mean I'm going to need 2 GPUs? I totally forgot that ryzen 3000 doesn't have a igpu.... -
I know the 1144D works well with unraid but has anyone tried the newer version...the 1344A? It's the USB 3.1 Gen 2 and it has 4 separate controllers as well.
