  1. Hi, so like 2 days ago my disk spinup/down happens to be there again. last time, some docker stuff went to from cache to hdd, so that was the problem, but now i checked everything out and i cant find the error. all i see (again) is something like this: Jan 4 13:38:53 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (566): spindown 0 Jan 4 13:38:54 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (567): spindown 2 Jan 4 14:08:35 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (568): spindown 0 Jan 4 14:08:36 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (569): spindown 2 Jan 4 14:38:48 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (570): spindown 0 Jan 4 14:38:49 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (571): spindown 2 Jan 4 15:08:30 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (572): spindown 0 Jan 4 15:08:31 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (573): spindown 2 Jan 4 15:38:43 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (574): spindown 0 Jan 4 15:38:43 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (575): spindown 2 Jan 4 16:08:25 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (576): spindown 0 Jan 4 16:08:26 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (577): spindown 2 Jan 4 16:38:37 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (578): spindown 0 Jan 4 16:38:37 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (579): spindown 2 Jan 4 17:08:20 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (580): spindown 0 Jan 4 17:08:21 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (581): spindown 2 for hours! i guess it has something to do with the ca backup plugin, because after backing up and restarting everything it gets crazy, every day a 5am. heres my diagnostics: unraid-diagnostics-20190104-1716.zip can something please tell me whats wrong? greetings
  2. Yeah, that could be a reason. yesterday i recreated my docker image. i will give it a try! EDIT: i guess that was the problem. but why is the newly created docker image on disk1 and not the cache? it is set to "prefer". oh, i think i know whats the problem. a night or two ago i was getting the message that my cache is 99% full, and after a minute or so it was solved by itself. can anybody see this in my diagnostics? i was kinda curious but as i woke up everything was normal. it was about 3.55am. EDIT: i probably found it by myself. i assigned windows10 a additional 500gb vdisk and its trying to move it to my ssd cache, which is also 500gb. so he will try to move it, it will fail, and it stays on disk1.
  3. hi, is my assumption right, that somethings spin up/down my disks every 30minutes? today morning i woke up and heard that the disks are spinning, and they should not since i havent used the server in any way. here are some log entries: Dec 26 04:01:45 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (152): spindown 0 Dec 26 04:01:45 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (153): spindown 1 Dec 26 04:31:27 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (154): spindown 0 Dec 26 04:35:29 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (155): spindown 1 Dec 26 05:05:41 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (156): spindown 0 Dec 26 05:05:42 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (157): spindown 1 Dec 26 05:30:51 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (158): spindown 0 Dec 26 05:30:51 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (159): spindown 1 Dec 26 06:01:34 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (160): spindown 0 Dec 26 06:01:35 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (161): spindown 1 Dec 26 06:31:16 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (162): spindown 0 Dec 26 06:31:17 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (163): spindown 1 Dec 26 07:01:29 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (164): spindown 0 Dec 26 07:01:30 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (165): spindown 1 Dec 26 07:31:41 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (166): spindown 0 Dec 26 07:31:42 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (167): spindown 1 Dec 26 08:01:24 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (168): spindown 0 Dec 26 08:01:24 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (169): spindown 1 Dec 26 08:31:36 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (170): spindown 0 Dec 26 08:31:36 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (171): spindown 1 Dec 26 09:01:18 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (172): spindown 0 Dec 26 09:01:19 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (173): spindown 1 Dec 26 09:31:31 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (174): spindown 0 Dec 26 09:31:31 unRAID kernel: mdcmd (175): spindown 1 it seems like every 30minutes somethings turning my disks on? here are my diagnostics: unraid-diagnostics-20181226-1135.zip hope you can help me. greetings
  4. hi, so i tried to passthrough intel onboard audio but im getting the typical iommu group error: internal error: qemu unexpectedly closed the monitor: 2018-12-20T21:05:24.547859Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=00:1f.3,id=hostdev2,bus=pci.0,addr=0x9: vfio error: 0000:00:1f.3: group 10 is not viable Please ensure all devices within the iommu_group are bound to their vfio bus driver. This is the group: IOMMU group 10:[8086:a2c9] 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation Z370 Chipset LPC/eSPI Controller [8086:a2a1] 00:1f.2 Memory controller: Intel Corporation 200 Series/Z370 Chipset Family Power Management Controller [8086:a2f0] 00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation 200 Series PCH HD Audio [8086:a2a3] 00:1f.4 SMBus: Intel Corporation 200 Series/Z370 Chipset Family SMBus Controller so, actually i dont have any of these devices assigned to something or is the chipset automatically used by unraid? i already tried the ACS Override, with the settings downstream and both, but group 10 stays the same. Is there anything i can do or do i have to get the audio out of the GPU?
  5. i only use one vm at a time, mostly my win10 gaming vm. so you would isolate 3 cpus and give them to the vm?
  6. hi, so i've already read the stickes, watched spaceinvaderones videos but i still dont know what i should exactly do. i got a i3-8100, so 4 cores, 4 threads, no HT. i would like to max out the gaming performance, but i have a few questions regarding the cpu pinning/isolating. can i isolate all of the cores? i guess not? could i assign just 1 core to unRAID and then 3 cores to my win10 vm? would that be the best case? and do i have to use the method from the stickies or is it possible to use the unRAID ui, as it seems like thats its given me the option to pin and isolate cpu cores there. and is it possible to have more than one setting? for example, if i start my win10vm, some cores will be isolated, once i stop it, the get reassigned to unraid. greetings
  7. hi, on my synology nas i used jd2 and filebot, i tried filebot on unraid but im used to the text version, not the gui one and i would like to automate it. how do you guys do it? i heard about sonarr/radarr but this seems more like a download solution than just a rename solution. greetings
  8. wow you guys are just amazing. i dont think somethings wrong but if you dont bother - take a look if you can unraid-diagnostics-20181216-2246.zip
  9. ok but i havent intentionally moved or copied it. but thanks anyway, i'll try it:)
  10. hi, just a quick question: if i take a look at my docker settings it says : but version 6.6.6 is the first version i've ever used. And i also did not update unraid. (im using it for a week now) is this a bug or a real problem? all i did was enable/disable docker a few times, because my hdds havent spun down.
  11. hi, i know, its best to not let the hdd spin down but right now i have to use it because its just too loud until i get my hdd decouple stuff. but since today i cant spin down the hdds, almost immediately they will spin up again, and every few seconds something is writing to it.(a few bytes) i killed every vm and dockers, deleted unused plugins, tried to reboot, disconnected all devices, but they dont stop. something is waking them up. whats the best way to find out whats causing it? i already tried open files but that didnt help. greetings
  12. just started using it a week ago. whats the problem? tell me, so i can switch to something else before it gets worse. btw, is there any alternative?
  13. Hi, just a quick question. are all the available plex containers the same? im a little bit confused which i should use, right now i've the binhex version but it seems like there is an version from limetech or plex itself. and why is the binhex version splitted up? right now im trying plex and so i have to switch between paid/nonpaid and i dont want to lay down on one specific version.
  14. oh! i havent seen this function yet. it seems like it IS reaching maximum speed but its kinda fuzzy. its not stable, sometime it drops to zero or to a few kb/s but i've seen values over 100mb/s unraid-diagnostics-20181215-1451.zip
  15. Hi! So i started my "production" server and im using the CA Auto Turbo Write Mode plugin and it says that its using Turbo (Reconstruct Write) but it does not "feel" like it. Im using 3 4TB WD Red Drives(2 Drives, 1 Parity) which are capable of writing with 100mbs, also i do have a 500Gb Cache Drive (which doesnt matter in Reconstruct Write, i know) but im "only" getting 65mb/s per second. Many people wrote, that they got the double speed or even more but im getting just a plus of 20mbs or so. I can see that it seems like its working, but it doesnt feel like it. i copying big files, not many small files (mkvs and stuff). also im able to write with 100mbs directly to my cachedrive so my network is properly working. am i doing something wrong?
  16. Hi! Yes, i already thought that, thanks for confirming it Then you will probably see me a lot here on the forums, i will continue to evaluate unraid and will buy it soon greetings
  17. hi guys, just discovered unraid and for now, i love it. but i dont really know if its the right for me, maybe you can help me. even as an it guy i never had the opportunity to work with nas systems/distributions. The last weeks i owned a synology nas, but the more the time flied, i knew i want more :D but i also had to learn that the synology hardware is way to underpowered (at least for me) so i started researching what i can do with my pc. What started as a simple file server is now a downloadserver, plex media server, timemachine backupserver etc. so, my specs are: i3 8100, 16Gigs of RAM, GTX1060, 512GB Samsung SSD Drive, 4TB WD RED (30w power consumption in idle) -i want to use it as a general fileserver for all my computers (macOS, windows, linux, so i guess ill stay with SMB), a timemachine server is mandatory. -i would like to use plex WITH hardware acceleration (that is where my ds218play is dying at right now) -maybe itunes server -downloadserver (jdownloader) -possibility to access my files from the internet -access plex from the internet -use a windows VM as a gaming machine (thats what the 1060 is for) -make us of 4 to 6 drives, i want to upgrade every few months the capacity the last 2 days i used an trial license to checkout the windows vm stuff and its working and it looks very good for now, maybe 5% power loss, but games are almost usable as on native windows. but, is unraid the right choice for me? i dont want to change to another distro/solution in a few months or so. And is my hardware enough? (i guess so?) i havent tried everything out but ofcourse i checked the forums and also found spaceinvaders youtube channel. greetings
