Hi community, To my best knowledge I have used the search function on this forum extensively and I have not found the answers I am looking for. I am using unraid within my home to stream music and movies to different TV's or tablets etc etc using xbmc. What I want to do now is to be able to acces my unraid data from the laptop of my friend who lives in another city. I want to do this safely without opening my system to others. Read something about openvpn and am thinking this is the way to go. But, I have not managed yet to find out what steps to take to set up and open vpn client/server to be able to view and copy files from my unraid server, using a computer on another location in that other city. In short, what steps do I have to take? make changes in the settings of my router? setting up an openvpn client or server Can anyone point me in the right direction? If I am to vague with my descrition, please let me know so I can fill in the gaps in order to get things up and running. Any help is more than welcome. I am using unraid version 5.0 but if nescssary am willing to change to version 6 beta.

Tom, Is there a deadline for this chimeing in? Maybe it is wise to make one. I voted for one of the standard options and am wondering what the final desiscion is going to be. Looking at the poll, 5.0 final should be there very soon. Good luck with the development of version 5.1 or the 64 bit 6.0 beta versions and of course renaming RC10 to 5.0 final ;-)

Frank I used an old laptopdrive for now as a cache drive. Now it seems to be working again. Thanks all for this help. Now to keeps things running especially with some add ons that I like. Will start with sabnzb and see how it goes from there. Will be using the cache drive for the add ons and as download location. Anyone hints or tips about this, tried some stuff but it never worked the way I wanted it to?

John, I used to have a cache disk, it broke, do not know if the problems occured after that. It is in the trash now as I took it out and ran some tests on it but it did not even spin up anymore. It is in the eternal hunting fields now. Do you know a way to tell the system that the move action was complete? Or should I try and take disk6 out as I am pretty sure unraid was writing to this drive due to all others being quite full?

Dear Frank1940, Here is a screenshot from the smb settings on my system. Windows being Dutch it is hard to make it in english. Translated by me the error message is something like this: There is not enough space on Media (//tower) availiable. 9.83 GB is needed to copy this item. Delete or move files to obtain this space. Make space availiable and try again. So no joy here. Hope this helps.

Used this script as I could not find the 486 tar file. cd /tmp/samba wget http://us3.samba.org/samba/ftp/stable/samba-3.6.2.tar.gz wget -r -nH ftp://slackware.osuosl.org/pub/slackware/slackware-current/source/n/samba cp /tmp/samba/samba-3.6.2.tar.gz . cd pub/slackware/slackware-current/source/n/samba/ Delete old version of samba ####edit samba.SlackBuild, and change on 2 places so it's match the extension of the new file >>>> samba-*.tar.xz >>>> samba-*.tar.gz >>>> samba-$VERSION.tar.xz >>>> samba-$VERSION.tar.gz $ chmod +x samba.SlackBuild $ ./samba.SlackBuild Slackware package /tmp/samba-3.6.2-i486-1.txz created. Was trying to put 3.6.8 on it as an advice that was given here because of other probs. cd pub/slackware/slackware-current/source/n/samba/ this part went wrong: no such directory what next?
