yeah very true. Just a bit paranoid. I mean I am aware that the URL just resolves the IP, but maybe I could bypass the most basic script kiddies hahaha :D Thanks @Mainfrezzer @Kilrah @ich777

I think its more malware on my personal machine. It seems like a cookie session hijack. since the accounts that were hacked had to common email or password.

Alright, then I will just do it normally and keep an eye on it. Since its only dedicated friends I wanted to whitelist their IPs, but theirs rotate every 24 hours.

    Thanks for all the help!

Non of my containers are running privileged (at least that I can think of) because it's most of the times not needed anyways.

Really, how did that happen? Do you know through what service/container/whatever you where hacked? Social Engineering,...?

Yes, but as @Mainfrezzer & @Kilrah already pointed out DNS resolution will return you public IP.

I think Couldflare has also a paid tier where you can entirely hide your IP and tunnel it though their servers and so only the IP from Cloudflare is shown but you then have to forward the ports in the Cloudflare Admin Panel and as said, that's a paid option AFAIK.

Will need to look into this. If its not too expensive this may sound like a good option.

This was discussed a few times. Why would you do that? This will complicate your setup very much since you have to use streaming ports, it will maybe work but I can't guarantee it and it is not worth the effort/time in my opinion and you have to expose a port anyways, even if you do it through a reverse proxy.

Please keep in mind that game servers most of the times use their own protocol and are not answering to http and https requests as like a reverse proxy is intended to do.

If you simply try to reverse proxy the dedicated server (like Plex or some other web application) the client can't understand what the Server is trying to say because these are completely different protocols.

Imagine it that way that you have two people that are trying to talk to each other (one is the server and one the client), both of them speak English natively and you now introduce a third person as a translator (the reverse proxy) that speaks German to translate between those two native English speaking people, I hope this makes it a bit more clear what a reverse proxy does for a game server (at least most of the game servers).

What do you mean with that?

My containers all run the dedicated servers inside with lower privileges and it should not be a security implication.

As a final word, I would not recommend even trying to reverse proxy a game server with streaming ports since this over complicates the setup and you will most likely run into trouble, just forward the port that is specified in the template and you are good to go.

    Thanks a lot!

I was just recently hacked and wanted to minimize the attack vector. Instead of giving the IP out, I will add a CNAME in Cloudflare with DNS only and then the can manually add the port at the end of the URL. I just wanted to check with someone :D

The docker does not have privileged permissions.

I initially tried it with the cloudflare tunnel service, since it would still just connect normally, but it seems Palworld can't resolve URLs without a port.

I don't understand, no you actually can join with a password.

You shouldn't be able to join when a password is set in the configuration, are you sure you are editing the correct file?

    Yeah

I deleted the worldoptions.sav file and now it works again.

Its weird. At some moment it stopped working with the password (you didnt need a password to enter) and that is the fix apparently.

    I had one user IIRC.

Then the conversion was not done properly.

I really can't help with that since I've never done that but it should be totally doable.

Took a bit but got it to run.

Maybe related, but it seems that no password is needed to enter the server.

In the config folder there is a server password. Anyone else have that issue?

  5. Hey

Anyone had success with migrating their local data to the server?

A friend ist asking me to host it on unraid. I don't play the game itself. We created the server (without the community server parameters). I copied over the level and player files.
    His friends could connect.

I used this python file to fix his file:

GitHub - JannikBirn/palworld-host-save-fix: A variation of the Palworld Host Save Fix from xNul with additional bug fixes. This script can be used in a similar way to convert co-op games to dedicated server and vice versa.

Basically it should rewrite the 0000*1.sav file to whatever his GUID file is.

He can see his map state and so on, but none of the pals or the skill tree.

    Is this a known issue?

    Thanks for the support!
    Best regards

  6. Dear all

I want to run two plex dockers with one using the iGPU and one the P2000

I have it setup but the moment one of the Plex dockers use intro detection or chapter generation the other Plex instance only get this error:

Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error.

Is there any reason for this? Maybe I need to change the UID and GUID? Maybe because part of the library they access are the same?

  7. Dear Community

I would like two run two plex servers on my server, one on the iGPU (intel QS) and one on the P2000.

    I have setup the dockers:
    image.thumb.png.dd44891820dcda5a2eea2e7708f35ee6.png

    For the Intel one.

    And the Nvidia one:

    image.thumb.png.65b3c4ec530ed49097d0366798f2cc18.png

It seems though that the nvidia docker does not use the quadro at all, when I go to terminal and do:

    watch nvidia-smi

    Anything I am missing?

    Thanks for the support!

    Best regards

  8. Ok I managed to delete the BIOS version:

    image.thumb.png.60910be2e43d4d5bc171c15a2c296a71.png

Now on my Windows machine it boots directly into the bios, but on the Unraid machine it still gets stuck in the bootloop. Taping the 5 & 6 PCI pins still works.
I guess I will need to do that?

Not sure if this is a motherboard issue? Any settings I would need to change?

It will delete the BIOS, then see if it helps or not, it won't hurt.

Ok will try when I get back home!

(BTW, I wouldn't be surprised if at that price point the card is counterfeit and substandard)

Wait what really? How would I test it? I mean with the taping of the pins I saw the two drives that were attached to the card. I just don't like to tape stuff :D

It does get rather hot after only running like 10 min.

  10. Hey I am a bit out of my depth here, also the main reason I bought the IT mode card.

Taping the pins works, but ideally I want to not do that.
    This is the card menu:
    I dimage.thumb.png.90865ed1fb5f5b946c89b34ce630e3ce.png

I dont really see anything there.

I went to the link you sent, downloaded this:
    image.thumb.png.916fb6611b3cbb728750d8a27314b469.png

And When I follow the readme I arrive at this error trying to list the card:

    image.png.5021dce1ff24f9bc18dba622406f3a92.png

I guess I need to get into a DOS menu to launch the  sas2flash -o -e 5 command? Not sure which .img to use with rufus? The bootfile in here: https://wiki.unraid.net/Crossflashing_Controllers#sas2flash Seems to be deleted?

  11. Dear all

To increase the amount of disks I can use I bought myself a HBA card flashed in IT mode:

    https://www.ebay.at/itm/394145329121

LSI 9207-8i (IBM M5110) FLASHED TO IT MODE PCI-E SAS2308 ZFS UNRAID TRUENAS

Installing this card into my Unraid server causes bootloop. To be more precise I do not even get an HDMI output, the fans spin up then after like 10s the PC shuts down and reboots. The moment I remove the card unraid can boot normally and everything works.

Assuming the card is defect I put it into my Windows machine and there it worked fine. (at least I could boot and the PCIe device was shown)

    Unraid HW:

    MSI P67A-G45 (MS-7673)
    i7-3770

GTX 1080 (I also tried changing the PCIe slots between the gpu and HBA card)

    Windows HW:

ASUS ROG Crosshair VII HERO X470

    Ryzen 7 3700X

    RTX 2080ti

My current assumption is that my MB cannot access the ROM of the HBA card or something in that direction. Since booting on my windows machine that is what is being loaded first?

    Thanks for any support!

I cannot for the life of me get Calibre-Web to see ebook-convert. I pulled the binary from a Calibre install, tossed it into /config within the container, and pointed Calibre-Web to the path to it. It's still reporting as not installed.

I consoled into the container to run "ebook-convert --version" to see if it was actually functional at all and it returned an error regarding missing modules. Does it require dependcies? Does Calibre as a whole have to be installed within the container?

Hey did you solve your problem?

How did you pull the binary from the calibre install? I am trying to find it.

So I got a bit further and am getting the following error:

    Calibre converterExcecution permissions missing

I tried the chmod and chown commands, but it did nothing and the error presists after rebooting.

    Thanks again for your help!

I'd say that unraid is polished enough to run your main PC as a VM if you pass through your video card and a USB PCIe card to it - the later for plug-n-play functionality. The big sticky point here though is getting a MB that'll pass through both without issues. Definitely checkout the KVM section here.

I plan on consolidating four PC's into two unraid boxes with 2+ Win10 VM's on each, each with their own Quadro card and possibly a USB3 PCIe card on one to ingest four Logitech Brio's to NDI.

Hahaha I was just thinking its fine I don't need it and now I want to setup it more and more :) To be honest I will make it time dependant. I will have to check out the KVM section, as I would want to try and build a PC with the new Ryzen CPUs coming out. It will be interessting on how upgradeable the system can be. Maybe I will test unraid on my old system then and play with it until I am happy and then convert the main system to Unraid.

I've been familiar and dabbling with UNRAID for several years but still consider myself new as I've been taking my time rolling out my current UNRAID system.  My use case is fairly similar to yours though I'm very green on the PLEX side of things and that's my next tackle. I built two new PC systems a couple of years ago, one for Gaming (race sims) and one for UNRAID primarily for NAS duty. With space issues as well, I recently looked at consolidating 2 boxes into 1.

System Hardware is Z170 Platform, i7-6700 CPU, 32GB RAM, 120GB SSD Cache Pool (2 drives), 4TB HDD Storage Array with Parity (2TB x2 + 4TB x1), 500GB NVME and 1TB HDD unassigned for Win10 VM (NVME) and Games Storage (HDD), GTX980 (passed through to Win10 VM), GTX760 (passed through to Mint VM) and 4 port USB PCIe card (isolated to Win10 VM). I'm currently running my Dockers on the NVME though I'm looking into upgrading the Cache Pool to 500GB and possibly moving them back to running on Cache.

Currently have a Win10 VM for Gaming, a Mint 19.1 VM for Daily Driving, and a PLEX Docker set up. Mint VM is accessed remotely through the Win10 VM with both running at once. I just started testing my PLEX Server as it was a previous Docker setup that was moved and I'm not convinced that I don't need to rebuild it yet.

I've gotten a lot good helpful information from Spaceinvader One's excellent YouTube Videos and great information in these forums.  Still a ways to go but I'm getting closer. Once I get this setup stable with PLEX, I'm hoping to run as is for a couple of years and I'm going to start planning the replacement system which I'm thinking will be about double this size in specs.

Ok interessting. How is the gaming performance while running Plex? Or while it is transcoding?

  14. Thanks for the input. It seems running plex in a windows VM is more stable and also has more support.
I really want to run an unraid server, as my NAS is reaching its limit. Still running my main PC in unraid as a vm seems not that recommended. Due to space issues having a second PC just as a server is difficult, but will try to use my old one maybe for PFsense and stuff.

I really would like to learn to use VMs and docker :)

  15. Really sorry for the late reply. I had to put this project on hold for a while.
Ok good to know regarding the power drain.

The more I think about it, the less it makes sense. I just wanted a stronger Server since the NAS is reaching its limits, but I just may buy a used old Xenon Server and setup unraid there without any windows VMs. Just running the docker containers I need.

    Thanks for your help!
