Unraid crashing, want to make sure I catch the error
So been a week without any crashes and I the only thing I added was some fans blowing directly onto the HBA. Have a feeling it was overheating and causing a full lock. Will wait another week before calling this one solved!

No worries! will make sure to do that when she locks up!

Unraid crashing, want to make sure I catch the error
much appreciated. I can see a log file being populated in the directory I added "local syslog folder" setting which is on my array. and I have "localhost" as the remote server so seems like I should be good the next time it hangs.

Unraid crashing, want to make sure I catch the error
Sorry if I'm being an idiot, but is the screenshot in the post not my syslog server settings?

Unraid crashing, want to make sure I catch the error
Server has been perfect for years. Only change I've made recently is adding an HBA for more drives: https://amzn.to/4r38ruu Drives show up fine with the HBA but for the second time now in a week server has fully locked up. Only way to recover is a hard shut down and boot back on. I've enabled the syslog server so that hopefully whatever is causing this will persist in the log, but just want to make sure that's all I need to to do catch the problem. Is there any other way to see why this is happening? Attached the diagnostics file as well if that can help. limnas-diagnostics-20260120-0842.zip

Can't Start VM with Audio Device
I have tried a couple other solutions like: Disabled PCIe ACS Override (to get rid of the error on top) Tools > System Devices > Bind selected to VFIO at boot If I Bind the above then the VM starts but can't detect the Audio device Editing the VMs XML file to match the slot and function + adding multifunction on Made no difference Any help would be appreciated!

New Motherboard - Won't boot from Unraid USB
Saved my life (again) @Hoopster how on earth did you figure this out 🤣

I think this has been discussed above and might be a permissions thing but try: sudo nano /boot/config/go

No problem at all I mainly plagiarised @Hoopster but i'll take it

Are you using stock Unraid or the Linuxserver version?

***GUIDE*** Plex Hardware Acceleration using Intel Quick Sync
Damn that is strange and would bug me out too. I almost never say this but I’m wondering if it’s a hardware issue. Only reason I’m thinking that is you’re having a difficult time getting to BIOS. QuickSync should really help by making your machine more efficient and not slowing down the other containers when transcoding. Shot in the dark here but you wouldn’t happen to have another CPU to test? Another shot in the dark is your NAS plugged directly into the wall socket and getting clean power? Quick Sync shouldn’t be drawing too much power but I’ve also seen weird issues crop on when machines aren’t getting clean power, more on GPUs though

Cryptic? I’m not sure what’s more explicit than it being number one on the pre-requisites. Let me know which part you found confusing and I’ll try to elaborate more

Easy, Robust, unRAID Cloud backup using CloudBerry and BackBlaze
I doubt the B2 tier would. As you pay for what you use. Regarding BackBlaze Desktop - they do say unlimited and I've seen posts where people are uploading a lot, but not sure TBH.

RIP your CPU ☠️ Sorry wasn't too sure on your question. If you meant CPU usage - I think you can see this on the dashboard If you meant weather your GPU or iGPU is being used in the transcode - depends which one you've given your Plex container access to. If you're using a stock version of Unraid, it can and will only by your iGPU. If you meant is your iGPU being used for transcode - You'll see (hw) in the Plex status page

And regarding which version of Unraid? a different VM?

***GUIDE*** Plex Hardware Acceleration using Intel Quick Sync
Ah good point You on stock Unraid or the Nvidia one? Tried another VM? Also are you using the Graphic ROM Bios?

I had this a couple of times. Have you tried a dummy HDMI plug? https://www.amazon.com/Emulator-Headless-Display(Fit-Headless-1920x1080-3840x2160-60Hz)-2Pack/dp/B074NNZYW4 solved it for me!

Hi @RobJ Apologies for putting this in General Support, might be worth moving it to the Guides thread if you think that's a better place for it.

Low latency remote to mac os VM
What client you using to connect to your VM? If it's macOS there's native screen sharing. If you're looking for something a little more vendor agnostic I think NoMachine, as mentioned, is your best bet!

How do I know I'm using the Plex Pass server version?
I use the official Docker image and all Plex Pass features work. Once you're signed in you should get all PlexPass features. easiest things to check from easiest to difficultest would be: Install plex on your mobile device and try to sync something Create another user (try out user management) Check hardware transcoding All the above should not work unless you have a plex pass or you're a ninja

***GUIDE*** Plex Hardware Acceleration using Intel Quick Sync
The reason some boards won’t work is because their implementation of IPMI sends all video through the IPMI controller. This is done so that you can “Remote Desktop” into your machine using IPMI. As a result your Intel chip isn’t recognised as being the display adapter, rather it’s the IPMI controller. I can understand why it’s done this way but it can make for a bit of hassle in occasions such as this. @ramblinreck47 mentioned it might work though. Only other option would be to install a graphics card, but then you lose quick sync altogether. HW transcoding is possible with some Nvidia cards if you’re going that route. Give it a shot though it might work!
