  1. Has there been anyone who has attempted to run unraid with virtual machines against external GPU's using thunderbolt? Akitio Node Duo External GPU enclosure I would also like to know about compatibility with laptops that may be able to use the thunderbolt ports for VM assignments.
  2. After doing some snooping I found that there were 2 more USB 3 ports available on my motherboard under the ethernet slot that I was able to plug into the 1st vm. I can now play occulus on both VM's at once. Time to setup echo VR.
  3. Re-tested USB Occulus headset playability and got through a whole song in Beat Saber before hearing a high pitched beep then the game froze and went black. The whole time it had a very static-y fuzz to all the audio as well.
  4. VM starts no problem when card is deselected.
  5. Posting updated tower diagnostics. I have attempted the following with no luck: - Q35- 4.0.1 - Q35- 4.1 - USB Controller - 3.0 qemu - USB Controller - 3.0 nec tower-diagnostics-20191208-1557.zip
  6. Same behavior after update to 6.7.2. Edit: Just saw your post, pushing up to 6.8.0-RC9 now, and making other recommended changes.
  7. No reason for 6.6.0 other than not clicking update. I have made the suggested syslinux config changes and rebooted. I see the IOMMU groups much more spread out and I am able to assign the device to the VM. However, when the VM starts the attached screenshot and nothing else. I will attempt the upgrade now and see if that helps. vmNotUtilizingUSBXml.xml VMlogs.txt
  8. Here's the diagnosti cs, I did try to pass through the chipset USB controller but had connectivity issues with one of them. Here's what I've done 1. Setup 2 VM's with Windows 10 2. Attach a USB controller to each a. 2 of the 5 controllers (that are not in group 13) are assignable b. 1 of those 2 work perfectly for what I need. c. the other has connectivity issues i. attached USB controller and started VM ii. connected Occulus Rift S to the assigned slots iii. Occulus device drops intermittently during setup, rendering it unusable 3. purchase USB card 4. have difficulty assigning USB card a. cannot isolate from IOMMU group 13 with acs overrides b. cannot utilize "downstream, multifunction" overrides for some reason because VM won't start after USB card assignment tower-diagnostics-20191205-1839.zip
  9. I tried with overrides set to multifunction and downstream which did separate out the IOMMU group, but the VM will not start up correctly when I attach the device. The VM just shows the splash screen of the open source framework. Once I unassign the USB controller it is able to start into windows no problem. I don't see any errors in the VM logs. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
  10. I have added a 4 port USB card to my unraid setup to allow VM assignment but I'm having difficulty breaking the new device out of the primary motherboard IOMMU group. Here is what I see when I plug in the device: IOMMU group 13:[1022:43ba] 01:00.0 USB controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. What can I do?
  11. I have been trying to get my unraid system to passthrough multiple VM's to multiple graphics cards with some success but still not quite working 100%. I have been able to get 1 card to pass through successfully but I cannot seem to get the VM passthrough to work with 2 cards (eventually 4). I have purchased a cheap 710 low profile GPU for $40 as was recommended because ryzen doesn't have integrated graphics and the POST seems to be eating 1 of the cards (slot 1) and won't give it up to the VM passthrough. Here's what I've tried: a RX580 in slot 1 and another RX580 in slot 3 = cannot see GPU in slot 1, can assign gpu in slot 3 swapped RX580 in slot 1 with RX580 in slot 3 = cannot see GPU in slot 1, can assign gpu in slot 3 a RX580 in slot 2 and another RX580 in slot 4 = cannot see GPU in slot 2 a RX580 in slot 1 and 3 with a 710 in slot 4 = cannot see GPU in slot 1 but can see 710 and RX580 in slot 3 (closest I've gotten, but want to use the 2 580's) 710 in slot 1 with RX580 in slot 2 and 4 = can only see 1 RX580 (?!?!?!?) CURRENT SPECS: 2x radeon RX580 1x nvidia 710 ROG ZENITH EXTREME x399 motherboard Ryzen 1900x 8core Threadripper DESIRED OUTCOME I would really like to have 4 gpu's that I can use with VMs at the same time. I am trying to get 2 to function correctly first but cannot seem to get the hang of it. I don't want to have to rebuild the motherboard and CPU if possible. I think I just need to figure out how to properly assign these graphics cards. Any help would be greatly appreciated. PS: I have watched the SpaceInvaders One videos and the linus videos and I'm still not getting what I'm missing.
  12. Been through a couple cycles of fully rebooting after the initial VM creation. It does appear that I cannot start even the same VM after initial setup without encountering the PCI header error. Here's what I'm getting from the VM's that do start up: vfio_err_notifier_handler(0000:09:00.0) Unrecoverable error detected. Please collect any data possible and then kill the guest
  13. Yes but I think the PCI header error got in front of my results there. I remember reading that the passthrough can fail after the first attempt, and reboot is required. I'm going to re-try with vbios file after another reboot.
  14. I have killed that Windows VM and created a new one, now back to the original error
