  1. I am using a Rosewill RSV-L4412 chassis. (Dont know what the latter is). But after 18hours of fiddeling around with it, here are my findings: The 0,75m cable does not work, no matter how it is used.* The 0,50m cable works and all disks are detected but only when used in port 1 on the HBA cards. I found the last part weird, but after some research I found someone comming to the conclution that his LSI card (looks identical to mine, but he dosnt mention the model) wont read anything on port 2, unless port 1 is also active. But I cant test if that is true since I only have 2 cables and one of them (the 0,75m) is not working. So the next steps will be: Contacting the cable sender, and RMA the 0,75cable (or just let them send me an aditional cable). Await the other 2-3 0,50m cables, and hope that they are all correct and test with them. Post my findings here, since someone else might need them later. THANK YOU for all assistance johnnie.black *It might be a misplaced (in the bag that was sent) OCR cable. It was shipped in a bag saying OCF and 0,5m. But it is 0,75m so who knows. - Although the numbers and description on the cable itself has the same info as the 0,5m cable - but is says nothing about OCF/OCR.
  2. So I have found 4 SATA cables and connected them to the motherboards interface. Just an understanding of the setup: Slot1 = 4TB Disk (New) Slot2 = 3TB Disk (New) Slot3 = 3TB Disk (Old) Slot4 = 64GB SSD (Old) Slot1 = Connected to SATA port 1 Slot2 = Connected to SATA port 2 Slot3 = Connected to SATA port 3 Slot4 = Connected to SATA port 4 I started the machine, and only Slot2 and Slot4 was shown. I powered off the system and then booted it again - now it shows Slot1 and Slot4. I rebooted the system - still only Slot1 and Slot4 was shown. I have now moved the disks around (reversed them, so former slot1 = slot4, slot2 = slot3 etc..) and now... It sees all drives in BIOS. It sees all drives in unRAID. I now powered down the system, and removed the cables going to the motherboard. Reinserted the cables from the HBA - AND NOW THAT WORKS TOO!!! I have a feeling, that something in the controller to the disk "holder" system is at fault here....
  3. At least I read the files right too then The HBA cards worked perfectly in another server - and they were removed and plugged into this within 15min. And in BIOS none of the drives is shown (BIOS if fully updated). But when unRAID has finished booting, it shows the SSD with no problem even if it was not visible in BIOS. - The same is happening when I switch stuff around and it suddenly sees one or two of the other drives. I don't have enough SATA cables in the server, to test for now (will go get more after this message). A quick thought: The HBA Cards was not installed till AFTER the first boot with the unRAID OS. Could that make a difference? (I dont think so, since it sees the cards, but still).
  4. It would be weird since my 64GB test SSD works in every case-slot I put it in. Both cables are server grade - one is 0,5m the other 0,75m. And both give this problem. Really hope this is the right file, it contains A LOT.. tower-diagnostics-20190223-1601.zip INFO: While downloading the diagnostics file, only 1 drive shows (64GB SDD).
  5. OK. So on to the next problem... (Honestly I have not had that many, and the biggest have been because of me ordering the wrong cables) So this is hard to explain, since I have no real understanding of the problem.: The setup: I have two (2) 3TB WD Red disk(s), that have been mounted via a four (4) disk mount to a SCSI-controller. The problem: At first the disks would not mount, and I thought it was because they were corrupt. So I mounted them in my main machine - And they showed up as a drives with only 746,5GB. (Typical) Not hard to fix, and it was done over a couple of minutes. And I made sure the disk was totally clean and ready. Mounted them in the server, and only one showed up. - Maybe a faulty disk or controller? Next step for me was to switch the disks, so I would know if it was the controller - now both disk was not showing? Switched it back and still they where not showing. Many reboots, and switching around, both disk showed at the same time. Took a look at them with S.M.A.R.T - no problems. Made them format - no problems. Added them to an array - no problems. Many shutdowns and reboots - no problems. Then I mounted a Seagate IronWolf 4TB (would be my Parity drive). I wanted "OCD"-structure (like in all i build) so I moved the disks around again. AND NOW THE DISKS WONT SHOW AGAIN!!! I have since tried many things, moving them around and stuff - nothing works. They sometimes show up but never more than a couple of reboots, and then they "die". If I place them in my main, they work every time, lots of data have been tested with them - no problems at all. And my IronWolf disk shows up what ever slot i put it in. - no problems at all. The controllers used:
  6. So just to let everyone know.... I have received a (only one in stock, the 3 others will be sent later) OCF cabel. AND THAT WORKED! Now on to the next challanges. (Just fought the whole "disk only reads 746,5GB and not 3/4/8/10TB"-problem. THANK YOU ALL!
  7. Well atleast about 80% of all Danes 15-65 of age, speaks and writes English (Atleast the best we can). Making it possible for us all to have conversations. But I think every thing is in place now. Will just see if it works in about 36hours when I have the new test-cable.
  8. Thank you Hoopster for the Amazon info. However all on Amazon will be to expensive because of the tax for importing them to Denmark. So I found some from the same vendor as before. I wrote to them and they replied even after hours. They apparently have not listed the 'forward' cable because of them only having 1 on their inventory. They will send one tomorrow so I can test, and the others I have received I should just send back.
  9. This.... I.... But.... My.... The funny thing is, that they only have OCF on their site when searching for SFF 8087, but since I only needed 0,5meter cables I choosed the only ones being that... And ofcourse that was the only OCR cable that they have.... THE ONLY ONE!.... THANK YOU.... I will order the other cables and test. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!
  10. Well all that is posted on the cable purchase and plastic is: "Mini SAS SFF-8087 to SATA direct OCR cable"
  11. I have to say that actually was a thing i had no idea about!! They are all brand new, will see what info I can get from them.
  12. Hello everyone, Let me start of by letting you know, that I have not had the pleasure of owning a unRAID system before yesterday. But have had some projects where that have been what we would use, and therefor have some (but not much) experience with it. (Mostly running it and not setting it up from scratch). So if some of this seems "dumb" please understand that I really have no where else to go, that posting a community post (( ie.: 'Yes I have google(ede??)' 'Yes I have searched on the community' and 'Yes I have tried to solve this on my own'. )) Lets start with the software: Pure unRAID 6.6.6 (muhahaha #DevilTiming) Pro And then on with the Hardware: Asus X399-A Prime (Fully updated). Threadripper 1920X (Fully functional). 32Gigs of 3200Mhz DD4 Ram (Fully functional). (And ofc. PSU, Cooling, Netcard, GPU, etc). And then to the problem: In my setup (since I am going to need a lot of Disk space) I have installed 2 SCSI controllers. The 2 cards in the system is 'LSI Logic 2008' that are both flashed to 'IT Mode'. And both have been detected fine by the unRAID OS (as shown by the quote below) however all drives connected is not detected by the system! So I have tried alot to see if I could solve this but with out any luck. And as of today I have also tried with a new test-drive, and that has not worked (let me stress out that the drives have been tested in another system (Windows 10 Pro) and works as intended. - The "test drives" was 2 x 3TB WD RED drives. And the newly bought test-drive was/is a Seagate IronWolf 4TB and that is not detected either. PLEASE HELP (Not really needed as a text, but still) And thank you to all that might help me out with this.
