  1. I am eventually going to try another hub, the reason I don't think it is that is because it also happens to the front USB ports on my case which tie directly into the motherboard. Thougths to that?
  2. The motherboard doesn't have 3.0 ports. The case connection has 2, 2usb ports and those have disconnected, the back motherboard slots there are only 2. One has the unraid usb drive, the other has a 4 port expander on it which various devices have detached off of.
  3. Unraid version 6.7.2, although it happened on 6.6.6 So I have an issue that has persisted for a while and I am guessing it is an unraid issue and not a hardware issue, although I don't have a good way to verify. My USB drives that are plugged in will just straight disconnect for no reason. Now usually this wouldn't be a big deal, but in a VM they don't autoconnect back and I have to use a plugin to re-attach them. Which is frustrating as one is a windows VM and I have to use a different machine to go to the web portal for unraid and do it. This happens to all my devices at some point, I have a mouse, keyboard, zwave stick, UPS, all of which have had this happen at one point or another. I would love to know if others have had this issue and know a fix. If there is any information I can provide to help debug I will do my best to produce it. Thanks!
  4. So myself, probably and many others, set stuff up as spaceinvaderone suggest with the appdata. Can you elaborate why it might not be a good idea for /mnt/user to be used instead of /mnt/cache? Is it fine to just have the folder in /mnt/cache? Will that mess up any cache settings of the docker? I'm not a super power user in unraid so there aren't always reasons why to do something and I am just using a suggestion from someone else without knowing the full reason. Would love more information about that.
  5. It could be just the default location for the /config as explained up. I am going to re-set up instead of using appdata and put in directly onto the cache drive and see if it happens again when an update hits. I agree this is obnoxious and none of my other containers suffer this issue so I have to think it's an openvpn-as issue completely.
  6. Hi All, I seem to have a reoccuring problem with openvpn whenever I update the docker container. This has happened multiple times, and I have usually fixed it by deleting the whole docker and starting from scratch, I don't feel like this is a valid way of dealing with this problem though. So whenever I update the docker, it seems to start fine, but fails to load anything. This is the run command and the log file I am unsure what is going on here, if it's a file location, a configuration error or what. I followed the spaceinvaderone video that was update in 2019 to set this up. Any help would be much appreciated as this is a real pain point in my vpn. Thanks!
  7. Interesting. So the keyboard is a logitech unifying remote which works fine..... so maybe an extender with choke is the way to go. I will look into sourcing parts. Thanks for that link, I missed it the first time you posted it.
  8. Ah, it's wireless, so that wouldn't work so well 😛
  9. I'll check the device manager to see if it allows something different than the general power settings in Windows. Can you elaborate what you mean by a choke on the cable?
  10. Just double checked it is on high performance with usb selective hibernation set to off and the same with PCI controllers. =(
  11. I will double check but I am fairly certain that it is already in high performance mode
  12. Hi all, I have a windows 10 VM where I am passing through two USB devices on through the VM Editor (unraid 6.6.6). Occasionally and without any trend the mouse will just stop working. I also have a keyboard that has been passthrew (?) and it seems to be fine. My temporary fixes have been, stop the VM and restart it. The mouse will function again until it stops. Or I have used a plugin that will attach/detach USB peripherals on the fly with a VM that is already running. Then the mouse will get back up and running. However, this is a pain because the VM is used directly on the server, not through a remote desktop. I'm not sure if any other people are experiencing this or if a fix is known. My googlefu didn't turn up really anything (besides the plugin that will temporarily resolve the issue). The mouse is a Logitech G602 if that matters. Any log files you might need let me know and I can attach them. Thanks!
  13. I appreciate the input and it has given me a lot to think about. If I end up going down this route it is likely I will replace the processors. To circle back to the original question however, is do the log files point to something specific or if you guys can advise me what to look for in the log files, to see if I can isolate the cause? I understand the group consensus is that the processor is probably the weak link, I just want to be 100% sure before I spend the money to upgrade them. I'd be disappointed if it was something else (perhaps in addition to the processor).
  14. It's not actually on a network share, it's on the array as a 300Gb vdisk. I will try passing through an SSD first, running it at the lowest settings and see if I can get it to not crash every 4 minutes. If not, I'll start looking at some system upgrades. Probably two E5-2680 v2. I don't need it to look good, just to run!
  15. I see now, slight miscommunication. After you edited my post to remove the text, I had uploaded the .txt file as an attachment and I thought you were asking it to be uploaded as a .zip instead. I wasn't talking about the wall of text. I only posted it like that because a similar thread here had it in the "code" section. I completely understand not wanting it to clutter up the forum. Thanks for the explanation =). I am currently running it on the array with vdisk (because like you said steam won't allow it to run off a symlink), but I have cables on the way to move it to a SSD cache. I will try to see if the issue persists there as well. It does seem like Ark struggles to be even slightly optimized. I will try it on cache, if that doesn't work I will look at passing through an SSD before I overhaul the cpus and gpu. Thanks for chiming in!
  16. Thanks for taking a look! I understand your thoughts regarding it to be a lost cause so let me elaborate. So the processor can turbo up to 3.0 Ghz, which is pretty close to their minimum processor listed. I'm not sure if that really is the issue or not. The gpu was in a different system (with a better processor, i7-3820) and didn't experience any of these crashes. Since the whole VM is crashing, I would expect it to be a configuration issue within KVM or Unraid, else I would expect the game to crash inside the VM, which would point to a hardware incompatibility (what you suggested). The reason why I want to nail down what is causing the crashing, means I can upgrade certain parts if necessary (maybe there just wasn't enough RAM for unraid with other things running so it shutdown the VM, for example). I just don't know where to look in the logs to pin point this issue. Also this is server related stuff first, gaming second. My GF is actually the one who plays Ark and it would be nice if she could play Ark on the server, while I use my gaming rig for other things. So if that means taking all graphical settings to pixels I think she would be ok with that. I don't mean to be obtuse , but I don't see the reason to zip a single small file. In my experience zipping is for large multiple file type things. I have attached it zipped anyways in case that is more helpful. Thanks for being patient with me! FCPsyslog_tail.zip
  17. I ran it because I was googling and someone said that it is a good tool. Didn't know if there was a better option. I attached the FCPsyslog_tail, there was no zip for it.
  18. Hi guys, Having an issue with my windows 10 vm. While playing Ark: Survival evolved I get entire VM crashes frequently, usually not more than 5 minutes in. I have a system bebugger from fix common problems as well as my system log attached. I would love to know if you guys could point out why the VM will completely reset itself. Thanks! Things like Overwatch seem to run ok. If you need any other system information please ask! tower-diagnostics-20190302-1854.zip FCPsyslog_tail.txt
