  1. I used a USG router before and as I agree it got basic auth it lacks so much it was not useable. USG have a strange development cycle and will now from what I heard drop edgeOS for their new line, making it extremely unpredictable what to do in the future (like the square AP points that got thrown out "overnight" with no future support or bein able to add into their system anymore)
  2. Any ideas here? Not sure if any "ebay" KVM for 4k is fast enough to pass gaming. So was thiking two schenarios 1. It exist a real thin client that just pass on monitors (3), keyboard, mouse, usb and sound with no heavy lifting 2. Running a KVM on the main display passing main display, mouse, keyboard, sound and USB to the main monitor 3. Running straight HDMI over IP forwarders for the other monitor outputs Any have tried any of this options and have some links to hardware proven to be fast enough for gaming?
  3. Is it somewhere in the logs I can see what happens when I try to force transcode? I know the GPU is forwarded (worked in emby), but not sure if its anywhere in plex I can see if it actually detected or why it fails to use HW transcoding
  4. Yes, its the catch22 I was afraid of that unraid would fail, then the whole network would fail. I was concidering using an I3 Dual Gbit NIC with 16GB ram and M2 SSD for some kind of router. Any suggestions of router os that is very good, very good UI (unify integration is a big plus), but the largest requirement is able to do radius and VLAN tagging (tag VLAN for SSID)
  5. Since unraid got quite good hardware, is it possible or clever to run some kind of pfsense (or any suggested software) so I can setup users, firewall, radius, dhcp, dns etc on the NAS-server. Im not sure if I want to setup a windows machine, so would like the easiest and most advanced method. Or is the only solution to setup an own machine for this kind of usage?

Im still struggeling passing the builtin GPU to Plex for transcoding, but got a ASUS GeForce GT 630 2GB Silent PhysX and an ASUS Radeon HD 6450 1GB DDR3 Silent laying around from an older media center PC. Would it be any benefit plugging one of those into the computer? It already got a 1080TI, but thats dedicated for a gaming VM.

Cause of noise I would like to keep my office without a computer and use the computer an the unRaid server, but hit a bit snag here; What I would like to do is having 3x monitors in my office, plus mouse, keyboard and audio of course, but pass through the VM to a thin client or directly to the monitors via ethernet or a fiber optic. Got 10gb fiberoptic between unRaid and the office. How should I plan this, if its possible to be able to forward the VM that is using the Nvidia 1080TI to my office, so that I can switch between win10, linux, osx etc? My monitors are two 1080 (HDMI and DVI) and one DP 4K, but guess I can convert all to HDMI to make it easier. Any ideas how this could be done keeping the office clean and noise free?
  8. Yes plex lifetime pass, confirmed activated, and transcoding activated in plex. I did the chown and chmod in the go file, and as I said emby detects it and transcoding fine, so strange plex refuse to do it
  9. I have difficulties running plex in docker with GPU forwarding. I dont know if its my GPU or due to having dual GPU it really dont want to transcode. On the synology the offical method was not to use docker and run plex as an app. Has anyone made or is it possible to install plex directly on the unraid server as a standalone application? If its any new things to do be done to get docker to be able to run plex properly I am listening Tried: 1. Checking primary display in bios 2. Checked card is loaded (for me its two ward a 1080ti and the integrated that support quicksync) 3. Changed rights on the card 2 and card 1 4. forwarded the dri devices to docker 5. forwarded the dri paths to docker 6. running plex pass-versjon of docker It just refuse to transcode with my setup. Edit: I found the plugin from the official plex, but that didnt do anything. My CPU is a i7-4790K - from what I know this should support most transcoding? Might it be something with plex? I tried to install the official Emby docker and forwarded the /dev/dri device, exactly the same as with the plex containers, and there HW transcoding is working, so unraid can see the card, its not taken by another process, its just plex that refuse to use it
  10. Okay I have 4 purposes of this machine 1. Gaming 2. Media center 3 storage 4 surveillance. as of now I put 3 10tb in an array and two 256gb cache disk as caching. i have 3 nve 512gb installed in the rig but heard a lot against it. How should I properly use them? I was thinking to assign then to the array ans store Vm data in them since it’s possible to choose disks. for example my window I want to pass 1080ti and directly one of the ssd the other ssd I was thinking for osx third I was thinking for smaller vm like hassos / home assistant. would that be a good structure? Also keep the 3 nve to their specific need (in array or not?) tgen everythung else is srorage, tv, video etc
