  1. It will auto search, and automatically fetch and assign. Sometimes it will present you with a choice of several movies and you click the right one. Only if it has no idea, will it ask for the IMDB number. When it scans your media you can set filters to show only those titles that lack metadata.
  2. If your naming convention does not include year you will have a problem. They should ideally be in individual folders. The folder name is key. The actually .avi or mkv is not critical. D:\Movies\First Movie (2007)\ movie.avi D:\Movies\Second Movie (2008)\ bm-cd1.avi bm-cd2.avi D:\Movies\Third Movie (2009)\ third movie [Good Version].avi Release date The year between parenthesis in the folder name is optional, but will allow proper conflict resolution in cases where there are two movies with similar names. Any text between [brackets] will be ignored, you can use this for comments, versions, etc. It is recommended to always include the year in parenthesis as this will improve the automatic detection of the correct movie. If you have a lot of items to rename, doing it manually would be a complete PITA. You might need to massage your media. For movies I used Media Center Master. It will scan, rename and match you media to the IMDB #tt. In any case you can quickly determine if you indeed have a naming problem. Example: Search IMDB for The Dark Knight Rises the tt# will be in the url. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1345836/ Paste the number in MCM and it will then fetch the metadata and rename accordingly. Maybe your naming convention is not the issue, but MCM will quickly confirm that it is not. It also works on TV Shows, but I have always used Sickbeard, so I never had a problem. If you use Sickbeard, I would try using the renaming function and see what happens. Below is the structure I use. Show Name/Seasonxx/sxxexx D:\TV Shows\Great Show\Season 1\ s01e01 - Episode 1.avi s01e02 - Episode 2.avi My actual structure from Windows Explorer: \\TOWER\Media\TvShows\American Horror Story\Season 01 This is not the only way to do it, you dont have to use season folder at all, but it does keep things neat. http://www.mediacentermaster.com/
  3. You have to set your library data file path to a location on your hard drive. It can assigned to an actual disk or to a user share. Example if your only see flash, disk1, disk2... when you view your files on a Windows PC. User shares are not enabled. So in the PMS setttings in Unraid. Something like /mnt/disk1/PMS would work. When you start the PMS app from the web gui. Unraid will create the folder if it does not exist. A better option would be to make a directory for all your apps so if you add more apps, they are in one locations. I would suggest you do that. In my apps folder I have Sickbeard, Sabnzbd, PMS, Headphones and CouchPotato. I can be done many ways. I would make an apps directory on a disk. I have mine assigned directly to the cache disk. So in summary /mnt/disk1/apps/PMS would fix your rebboot problems. I would go one step further and create a user share called apps , and direct all applications there. When you make the share change the default setting to keep all the files on a single disk. To keep your apps from keeping all your disks spun up. Then your install path would be /mnt/apps/PMS.
  4. My meta data folder is located here in Explorer \\TOWER\apps\PMS\Application Support\Plex Media Server\Metadata I think you are correct, unraid re installs the app upon reboot and you leave the .txz file in place. The application runs in memory. If you fail to assign your data fiies containing your configuration settiing to a persistent locatation, ie a user share or a disk, affter reboot your settings will be lost. I am still a bit noobish and these things I am just coming to undestand.
  5. All of your metadata will be stored in your librairy directory. In my case its /mnt/cache/apps/PMS. You assign it wherever you want it in the setting page in the unraid ui. You would not want to store it on your flash. Excessive read/write would shorten the life of your flash, and possibly fill it up.
  6. This build transcends the concept of ugly and has become a thing of beauty. I sincerely hope you display it proudly in your living/family room. I am sure your wile will love it. 8)
  7. I think it would run those apps just fine. Might take a bit longer to unpack. I ran the same apps on a Qnap Nas with a dual core Atom 1.6ghz plus Plex. Worked great aall but except transcoding on Plex. My brother run them on a Arm base Nas.
  8. I was in a simular situation to yours. Recently moved all my media from a Nas to Unraild. My old set up was on a Qnap Qs259 Pro+ and I ran SB,CP and SAB and PMS. Setup worked perfectly. I decided to go with unraid because of my growing media collection. Your ReadyNas might do a decent job running those apps. I think the model you have has a Intel cpu. Sad Cp and SB would run great. Lots of people run this on Arm based Nas gear without issue. On the other had PMS transcoding would probably be a no go. In answer to your question, yes unraid will work fine PMS trans-coding to mutlipule clients requires a bit more robust CPC. I really like my unraiid box. The plugins for the apps you require are very easy to install. I do think your shopping lis is overkill. A low or mid range dual core cpu would be more than enough. My total cost to buld My unraid box was $320 inculding 99.99 for the case. Myspecs: System: ASRock - 880GM-LE CPU: AMD AthlonTM II X3 455 - 3.3 GHz Cache: 384 kB Memory: 8960 MB - 533 MHz Network: 1000Mb/s - Full Duplex Connections: Zero Uptime:2 days, 12 hrs, 20 mins, 48 secs
  9. Nice low cost build. I would be interested to know how it performs.
  10. Other options: If you are using the SB autoprocess.tv scirpt. 1. SAB does its thing and moves the completed TV show to /Download/complete/TV 2.SAB launches sabtosickbeard.py, the file is renamed and moved to your defined TV Show folder. SB deletes all the left over files. Nothing is left on your cache. For movies the file would remain in /Downloads/complete. That is one reason to use Couchpotato. It will rename and move the files off the cache drive to your defined movies share, and then delete the leftover files. Again noting left on your cache drive. This is how my setup works If you dont want to use CP you can set a category for movies in SAB and let it move your completed files. If you had a 15 drive array, would you rather have 15 drives spun up or one? It also will process files much faster.
  11. It looks like you have correctly set you apps dir to cache only. Then you put your sabnzbd directly onto your cache drive. When the mover kicks in. its moving your files. Moving to where? Since there is no user share called cache, were would it go? if you change your data dir to /mnt/cache/apps/sabnzbd/Dowloads/tv in stead of ............................................/mnt/cache/sabnzbd/Downloads/tv the will likely stay put. Make the change and kick off the mover manually, or wait to 3:40am and see it it works. I had the self same problem.
  12. From the Unraid config tututal: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Configuration_Tutorial#Preclearing_With_Screen The first time I tried to preclear a 3tb disk, the PC I was using locked up and I lost my telnet session. No harms was done, other than to have to start all over. If your preclear was halted 15 mins in, the disk was only being read, not changes had been made.
  13. The default location for the downloads, is in the Sabnzbd data folder. The most recommended seting are /usr/local/sabnzbd for the intall to be on the flash. and the data dir /mnt/cache/apps/sabnzbd. In this example the download folders woud be /mnt/cache/apps/sabnzbd/Downloads/complete and /incomplete . Save yourself a lot of headaches and start from square one. Influencer / UNplugged is the way to go. I am not saying the method you are using is wrong. Just this would be easier than sorting out what you have done so far. Take a look at this wiki. Instruction HEre: https://github.com/Influencer/UNplugged/wiki The guide worked perfectly, the only thing I had to do not covered in the guides was to make a scripts dir in the sabnzbc dir.
  14. Put me on the mee too list.
  15. I use both PMS and xbmc. If I want to access my content on my Androd phone its through PMS or share my library with my GF.I think the frame rate and therefore the picture quality is better than PMS. I have found on rare occasions. Download the animated short "Cat Shit One" and watch PMS choke on it. Hundreds of addons, Navi-XIcefilms and many more not available for Plex. UI let you customize it to your liking. If you like the idea of having centralized metadata and dont want to mess with Mysql. Just run the Plex addon on xmbc. http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/27270-plexbmc-client-for-xbmc/
  16. One other option is use Plex Media Center as the back end and use the Plex Xbmc addon. You get the centralized meta data and playstates with minimal effort. I like the xbmc front end more than Pex. Xbmc is much more responsive than Plex and there are tons of addons. http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/27270-plexbmc-client-for-xbmc/
  17. You do not install xbmc on Unraid or any server platform. xbmc is standalone. You simplly tell xbmc where the shares are and what kind of content. Movies,TV Shows, Music and it does all the rest.
  18. Xbox Media Center was developed to turn the original Xbox in to a capable media center. It has evolved in to the XBMC and is probably the best media center application out there. PMS is an off shoot of XBMC not the other way around. i have PMS installed and I use it sometimes, but I always go back to XBMC. Try it out, insall and point it to your media shares see for yourself. Google xbmc parental controls, have fun. XBMC is a client, do server side install needed. You can run Plex and XBMC at the same time without issues. It is pretty easy to setup. You have to browse to the shares that you wnat to be available on the client. Simple and quick to do. Idont use the parental controls, so someone else with have to address that. Lots and lots of adons available, many different skins. Pex has some advantages in the fact there is zero set up. And play state is consistent on all clients. The biggest advantage is transcoding. You might want to do some reading here. http://forum.xbmc.org/
  19. In the UI go to Settings----Disk Setting and you will find the following option. Disk Settings Enable auto start:
  20. I am running rc8 and that appears to me normal operation. At least that is how mine works.
  21. Zotac Nano about 200.00 you can barely hear it. Barebone Use Openelec on SD card instead of hard drive, will run cooler, therefore less heat, less fan noise. or Zotac Nano xs 249.00 Even more quiet and smaller. Uses M-Sata instead of laptop drive. Less heat, less noise, mo money. Use included VESA mount to attach to back of TV. Totally out of sight. I have put together five Zotacs for HTPC use for family and friends. No noise complaints. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856173027
  22. I use WMC7 for my live TV along with a Xbox as an extender in my bedroom. I was disapointed that WMC seems to be unchanged from the old version.
  23. That is what I asked my girl cousin, when I saw her coming from the bath, when I was six. :
  24. From the UI you click on Shares. There you should see your apps share. Under the heading "Cache Drive" you select "Only". I am not sure about the .apps. I know that it will make the file hidden. Dont know it it will prevent it from being moved. I am still learning.
  25. Looks pretty easy to take the drive out. I would get one, but I just bought a 3tb WD. This video shows how.
