  1. Instruction on hot to install Influencer Plugins. Links to download here as well. https://github.com/Influencer/UNplugged That should get you on your way. Influencers Plug-ins work great for me. PMS is not included in his plugings, but this will get you started. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=21260.0 This seem to be a popular and easy way to install. Sabnzbd Sickbeard Couchpotato Version 2 (Server) Darkstat Headphones Mylar Maraschino You can post there, if you have any problems. You may also want to install, SimpleFeatures Plugins and UnMenu. Search the forum and read, then read some more. BTW, if you have the Pex icon on you settings page. and it seems to be running. Did you try to go to the manage page? http://tower:32400/manage/'>http://tower:32400/manage/ This may help you with PMS> http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/42513-0963-for-unraid/ I have a new server that I am not really using yet, just getting to know unraid. I installed using the above posted method with no problem. Using the above mentioned method. This is what I did. 1. Created a new folder on the flash drive at root level named.. extra 2. Download file from the Plex site http://www.plexapp.com/linux/linux-pms-download.php and copied the downloaded file into that folder. 3. Opened a windows CMD window and typed telnet tower...login root no pass 4. copy and pasted install command into console. installpkg /boot/extra/PlexMediaServer-*-unRAID.txz Executed command. 5. Open browser and configured Plex. 6. Browsed to http://tower:32400/manage and added media. 7.Opened Pex on HTPC grabbed remote and watched Brickleberry. Takes longer to type than to do. There are other ways to get PMS installed. I test it about a year ago, with a package install. I think you need to stop plex before stopping the array. The one I test before had that option in the GUI. Im sill a noob, so if that is a better method or version, please post.
  2. Anyone gotten their hands on a Pivos XIOS. Offical support from xbmc. No hacking needed. I might get one of these for a customer. Links http://www.pivosgroup.com/xios.html
  3. I had one for a while running xbmc. I found that it had problems playing MKV smoothly. 720 was laggy and 1080 a no go. I bought a crystal hd for it and misplaced it. Its tiny. Never got a chance to install it. Sold it to a friend, and sold it. General conscience, is that the Crystal HD is required in the ATV1 if you plan on playing HD. I you are running something that transcodes on the server side, like PMS and you dont mind stepped on video. It works fine.
  4. I have a friend that has two brand new 1tb SAS drive. I can likely get them free or dirt cheap. Will they work?
  5. Yes that is what I meant. Just found the answer in the wiki. Thanks
  6. I have three disks in my server and wants them to show up as a single large volume. I looked around the forum and found a post about split levels. As a noob, I am not sure I understand.
  7. I too, wonder if its makes that much difference. I spent about 120.00 for MB and CPU. Has the poste seen this thread.? http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=7998.0
  8. I bought a 29.00 case years ago. I think I spent about ten times that at the ER, needed 5 stitches on my hand. I trying to clip the heat sink and fan on. Old style, had to press clip on with screwdriver. Screwdriverslipped, skated across the MB. POS case had razor sharp edges. Second PC builld. Not a good day. Havent bought a cheap case since. :'(
  9. I just built a server in the same case, and I think the same PSU. If you are going to use 5 in2 racks, you will need to get the metal tabs out of the way. They usually hold your optical drives. It probably would have been better to have done it prior to installing the MB. I used a deep throat C-Clamp. I dont know about the Coolermaster racks. Most recommend the Norco 5 in 3. Did you have to get rid of the tabs? [/img]http://www.harborfreight.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/370x/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_16867.jpg You can bend the tabs flat to get them out of the way, so the rack can slide in. As for what version, I am a noob, but If you want to use drives larger than 2tb. One of the 5x betas. I am running beta 14. But I just has so junk drives in it. A 500g sata and 2x 250g Ide. I like the case. very almost silent and good air flow. Any modern dual core processor should be plenty fast for what you want to do. You can find the Preclear script here. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=13054.msg152668#msg152668 You probably could have saved quite a bit of money by getting a cheaper MB and case. I really like Asus boards and the Quick Connect feature. I decided to use a 54.00 board Asrock 880GLE. I spent more on the case, which If I was to do it over again, I would not, since all the facny driive racks are going to be disgarded to make way for the Norco racks.
  10. XBMC is great if you dont want to do the client sever setup. I have two friend that have Zotac Zbox netops with a 2gb external drive attached, XBMC with Icefilms, Sabnzbd,Sickbeard and Couchpotato. Runs great on Ubuntu.
  11. As for applications install, many popular apps can be installed with Unmenu. Browse the forum. I have installed a few. Sickbeard and Sabnzbd and Plex that way. http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php? title=UnRAID_Add_Ons There are many not listed here available on the forum.
  12. I am running the AsRock 880 GM LE, Unraid B14. Its a brand new build and I am new to unraid, no issues so far. The AMD Tri core is probably overkill. It was on sale. I may swap it out for a dual and use the tri in another build. I am using the same processor you llst, same PSU. Running Sabnzbd,Sickbeard, Couchpotato Headphones and PLex Media Server. Prominent 9 is the case I am using. Will be adding 5 in 3 racks soon. unRAID Version: unRAID Server Basic, Version 5.0-beta14 Motherboard: To To Be Filled By O.E.M. Processor: 3.3GHz AMD AthlonTM II X3 455 Memory: 4864 MB 533 MHz Speed Network: 100Mb/s Full Duplex Uptime: 3 days, 7 hrs, 11 mins, 53 secs
  13. I have used Nod32 for several years and like its light footprint and its pretty effective. I dont like there annual payment tho. Some have use cracked versions. wink, nudge.... But since I got the limewire using computer breaking teenagers out of the house, its less of an issue. Also I out of 5 pcs in the house only two are running windows on a regular basis. One is strictly a HTPC the other has Nod32. The firewall can be a bit quirky, blocking out stuff I dont want blocked at times. Avira is my fav free (are used to be) AV. For spare change to buy PC gear I do malware/virus cleanups a month. Malwarebytes is my tool of choice. There are some really nasty one about, that write to the MBR and I have never been able to clean, without reformatting. I highly recommend getting the paid version of MB which provides active protection. In several cases of the mbr written virus, MB would blocked the Trojan downloader that was still present after the OS had been re installed. It can prevent a minor malware infection from becoming a big problem.
  14. Thanks for the quick reply. That simple solution, came to me about an hour after posting the question? Just turn of the autostart.
  15. First of all, thank you for a awesome script. I am a Unraid noob, and it made things easy. I have a couple of questions. I had installed Plex and if you want to stop the array, you have to stop the running apps. In the Unmenu package you have an option to stop/start the apps. What is the proper method if using the script?
  16. I assemble my new server tonight. I got a C-Clamp to flatten the optical drive tabs as recommended. I stuck an old 500gb hard drive and I have Unraid running. I want to start with one 5 in3 drive bay, but NewEgg is out of stock. What would be a good second choice?
  17. Man Unraid is sweet. Install Unraid on 4g usb stick and dropped a old 250g drive in my trusty old Dell crashbox. I got it running in minutes. Installed Unmenu, sabnzbd, sickbeard, and plex server in a few mins more. If I had known about Unraid a year ago, I never would have dropped the cash on my expensive Qnap Nas. All I can say is ......Winner, Winner....Chicken Dinner.
  18. Thanks all, for the advice. I picked that case, because I want a quiet system. It will go in a spare bedroom, that is used fairly often. I need to order a 120mm fan for the rear case. Any recommendation for a quiet fan? You have a great forum here. I am testing Unraid on a my sandbox PC, a Dell 745, and it looks sweet. I installed Plex and Sabnzbd and it was easy. I am still not sure how to install Sickbeard and CouchPotato. I am going to try and get it running, on the Dell, I just need to put in a spare drive.
  19. I use to be a Tivo Hacker, and it was my first exposure to Linux. That lead me to Ubuntu and I have basic Linux skills. After haing several Tivo hard drives die on a period of ten years, I started look into less restrictive options. Finally went went a HTPC and Sabnzbd, Sickbeard, and CouchPotato. I use Plex Media Center/XBMC for the front end. Currently I am using a Qnap 259 Pro with 4 TB of storage, configured for max space, no data protection. Now I want more space and data protection. Out of all the options I have looked it. Unraid appears to be the most cost effective and flexible. I just orderd the parts for my build. From information found on this forum, and the Xbmc forum, I decided on the following hardware. CPU: AMD Athlon II X3 455 Rana 3.3GHz Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core $79.00 (for transcoding Plex Media Server needs a Dual Core 2.8ghz) I Intend to buy the dual core 65w cpu. While swapping stuff in and out of the shopping card, I made a mistake. so I may replace this cpu with a 65w dual. The tr-core is overkill. MB: ASRock 880GM-LE AM3 AMD 880G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard $59.00 Kingston 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) $19.00 PSU: CORSAIR Builder Series CX500 V2 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC $59.00 Case: Nexus Prominent 9 $99. http://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Prominent-9/dp/B0057JAJT6/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323193985&sr=8-1-spell Next month I will order a 5 in 3, probably a Norco. I have three or four drives laying around to use in this build. I will buy some better drives when prices come down from the moon. For now I will continue to use the Qnap and just get to know Uraid. I am open to suggestions. I will be building another PC for a friend in a couple weeks, so the cpu in this order may end up it that, and a low power cpu will on in the Unraid box. I wil be running Plex, Sabnzbd, CouchPotato, SicKbeard and Headphones on the Unraid. So I am pretty sure a dual core would be the best option. I would like to be able to run up to 15 drives in the future.
