Hi All,
I am very new to this whole thing, like I just made my first share and assigned my HDDs in unRAID kind of new. I have been loving exploring the platform and really finding out that it is very approachable for newbies.
The reason I am reaching out to all of you experts is because I have a question for you - Is it possible for unRAID to repair a disk in order to get to the contents on it so that they may be transferred onto the protected array?
I will clarify what I am asking, the whole reason I built the unRAID server was to replace a Mac Mini and dual drive RAID 1 array. The Mac Mini died and is no longer usable and one of the two drives have failed. Now, I have confirmed that the original files (almost 3tb of movies that I really don't want to lose) are still present. I have a Windows PC and was able to use a program to verify that the files are still there, but I can not do anything without purchasing a license for the software.
When the drive is connected to my server, it is found in Unassigned Devices and when mounted it shows 3 partitions - a boot, and efi partition; both are empty. It also shows the partition that contains all of the movies in it, but it is unmountable. When I run the Check on it, it comes back with Volume Need Minor Repair. Is that something that unRAID can do?
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
N
