  1. Thanks. I will try. Wish there was some AI assisted photo management not just reading metadata but don't see it unless its heavily worked on.
  2. I was just wondering if there was any docker/app that has similar photo categorizing features such as Google Photos, QNAP Qumagie, or Synology Moments. I know these are very complex and feature filled. I am just wondering if there are any options out there even if its simple search features. Thank you.
  3. I've been running UNRAID since version 3.x. I am planning to setup a new small rig to play around with. There used to be a free unlimited option with a maximum of 1 parity + 2 drives. Is this option still available or is the only way the 30-day trial? Thanks.
  4. Thanks for the reply. You mentioned v5 but I am currently using v4. This should not matter correct? Is unraid v6 using a new filesystem? What is it? The current one on mine on v4 I believe is ReiserFS if I remember correctly. I assume it is better to convert to the new filesystem? Do all the drives have to be only 1 type of filesystem on the new UNRAID? I do not have spare hard drives to copy all my drives and start new. Is it possible to upgrade with old file system then convert each disk individually one at a time? I only have 1 spare hard drive to store enough data for maybe 1 drive at a time. Thanks
  5. Hello. I've been using unraid 4.73 for yearssss and haven't really done much because it served my needs for media storage. I finally decide to upgrade because of all the plugins available. I want to upgrade to the newest unraid and at the same time I will transfer all my hard drives to a newly built pc. I just have a few questions for this. UPGRADING FLASH At this current time I still want to use my old flash drive. I am not sure if there is a process to backup my flash drive. Do I just copy and paste if on my pc for now? My unraid version doesn't have the backup flash in the GUI. Also I read something a while back about running 2 flash drives (in RAID1?) in case one fails. Is this still possible? I read that I have to do a clean install because of my older unraid. Does this mean cleaning my current flash, install new unraid on flash from pc, and then transfer contents from old flash drive back? TRANSFERRING DRIVES I want to transfer everything without clearing out all my drives. Do I just need to transfer my drives to the new pc and unraid will set it up as it was? What is the process for this without losing or wiping any of my data drives? I currently have 12 drives (parity, data, cache) in my system which has additional connections through sata pci cards and ide pci cards (i know its old..). Thank you.
  6. Thanks. I will try it out either this weekend or next weekend.
  7. You guys have some really nice rigs =p. I had a question for some of you DIYers if you don't mind because I do not really mod cases myself. I saw that bjp999 and smino made their own custom rack and cage. I was wondering what kind of spacing do you need to have between drives. They need to be cooled correctly right. I currently have an Antec 300 and my case is full. I do not want to buy a new case right now and I only want to add 1-3 more drives to it. I was planning to make the lower cage of the case hold more drives. I was just planning to drill new sets of holes and remove the semi-tray inside the bottom half (cannot be seen). The only cooling they will get are the 2 120mm fans that I currently have. I attached a pic of the case so you guys get an idea of what I am talking about. What kind of spacing between the hard drives can you suggest I can use? Can I just tightly pack the hard drives as long as they are not touching? I currently measured 11.5". So I was thinking 1/4" space for top and bottom. Hard drives about 1" each. [11.5 - 2*(1/4)] / [1+x] = # of drives. x- spacing between drives. @1/4" spacing I can make it go from 6->8-9 drives Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.
  8. No prob I think it has changed already . I do not use any of such. When I need something I just search for it at one of the sites such as binsearch.info mentioned and put the nzb into sab manually either through the /sabnzbd or the firefox add-on. I have not made any scripts of the sort and still fiddling with it to see how it works and if I would want to use it for my purposes. This is my first server made and I am a window user so I am not sure I am the right person to ask. Sab has an RSS feed you can use if you want though. I think people use that with tvnzb.com for TV shows. I cannot comment on such because I do not use feeds or scripts (at least at the moment). Thats why I use newsgroups =p in addition to its security. I am pretty sure u can hit a faster download than that .
  9. Just read Romir's install script that's what I did. Download the newest sabnzbd+. Extract the files somewhere on your flash such as /boot/custom/usr/share/packages/sabnzbd. Download Romir's dependencies package and edit your go script: # Install SABnzbd dependecies installpkg /boot/packages/SABnzbdDependencies-1.2-i486-unRAID.tgz #Find local IP and start SABnzbd on it IP=`ifconfig eth0 | grep 'inet addr:'| grep -v '127.0.0.1' | cut -d: -f2 | awk '{ print $1}'` python /boot/custom/usr/share/packages/sabnzbd/SABnzbd.py -d -s $IP:88 That or wherever you place your items sab/packages. I got the info from Romir's AIO package script. This way I can upgrade sabnzbd in the future when a new version comes out. I have not figured out how to upgrade any of the extensions such as unrar, yenc, etc. when new versions are released so I have to depend on the dependencies package.
  10. As of right now I do not think there are any sites that have any news searches that go more than 240+ but are building up to it as the news servers build up their retention such as Giganews at 365 days and Ngroups.NET at 400+ days.
  11. Yea I used the AIO package. Anyways I figured out how to make it so I can upgrade sab in the future but not the dependencies, so I have to rely on the dependency package for the future unless it gets upgraded again. I realized I only get that error when I try to change certain config settings when sab is unpacking/downloading. Thanks.
  12. I have troubleshooting question and am posting here since this is a sabnzbd thread. If I should post a new topic elsewhere please do tell. Everytime one queues is done or when it is done verifying and extracting I sabnzbd always shuts down. I always have to reinstall it to get it working again. In the syslog the following occurs: I installed Romir's AIO package. I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.
  13. Currently trying sabnzbd to see how it works out but I wanna try nzbget since you say its a better performer for unRAID. NAS, are you using your own nzbget or are you using bubbas? I was looking at bubbas but there I do not think there is any SSL support yet and it has many functions which I do not need. Is there a link to some instructions or something for me to get NZBGET installed without installing bubbaRAID? I am looking at this post. Is this the right one I should be looking at?
  14. Does this install have SSL?
  15. Thanks for the reply. So nzbget is the most unRAID friendly. But what about SSL? I know that the bubbaraid's nzbget SSL is being worked on but what about sabnzb. Are these running on unRAID w/ SSL?
  16. I was reading up on the usage of a newsreader on unraid. I saw different kinds and am wondering what the differences are because I have never used any of these before. I am used to newsleecher which gives me the best performance. I am not very linux savvy as well as the fact I do not want to rely on command line interfaces. I like GUI (it looks pretty =p). From the 3 newsreaders HELLANZB, SABNZB, and NZBGET that I have read has been working on unraid systems, what the pros/cons of using them are? Are there other alternatives? My purpose and preferences are as follows: 1) Which gives the best performance? I do not have a dual core so I do not want it to be abusing my system. This is in terms of grabbing headers as well as download/repair/extracting. 2) Are there web interfaces in which I can connect to them like I do with unRAID (http://tower)? I am trying to find which is the most user friendly but all the screenshots I can find are all command line based. 3) Are there schedulers/bandwidth limiters? Can it be used in off hours with my main PC off? 4) SSL support? Number of connections (I do not know if software limits this)? My main purpose is that I will get nzb or create nzbs on my windows PC therefore grabbing headers is not important. I would like to upload/transfer them to the tower which will download/repair/extract then delete the nzb/rar/par files afterwards. Scheduling them to perform these functions overnight is a plus so I can just turn off my main PC (I do not want to have 2 PCs on overnight). I want it only to remain connected to the newsgroup server during these off hours which I will schedule. Defining where they go in the tower is also a plus so I do not have to transfer them again within the server. Also SSL is important and necessary. I want to do everything from the WEB connection like I do with unRAID in other words no cmd line if at all possible. Thanks for the help.
  17. Are all you guys talking about running system with only 4GB of RAM? Are there any negative effects if there is more than 4GB running unraid without vmware (since it appears it hasn't been officially tested)? The reason I ask this is because I am gonna be able to get some extra RAM and wondering if I possible max out my board/unRAID with whats supported which I believe is either 8GB or 12GB. BTW, I do have a pro license =p.
  18. I am planning to upgrade my memory and was wondering if there are any changes in the maximum supported memory for unRAID. Is it still 4GB or has the max memory gone up? Thanks.
  19. Great! What are the character or strings can be used or does it just need to be consistent through the user share? I already had some folders with [] in it so I guess I unknowingly already had those folders to be placed on the same disk even though that was not the intent of the folder. To make it simple by this method I can just setup a user share to span say disk1,disk2,etc.. and set the split level to 0 (so I do not have to figure it out). Then anytime I want something to stay in the same disk i can just use []'s. Is this right?
  20. I finally got the scripts running on telnet and gonna link it in my go script to make sure its working. Thanks for the help.
  21. Hey all. I just setup my box recently and have been finding a bunch of different add-ons and scripts from other members here. Any of the scripts that I have been able to download into a file, I can run from telnet just fine. My problem when I make a script file with the code I found that users made I can't seem to run on telnet. For example I am trying to make a script for the install of the PS3 Media Server and the ls -R code. For the ls -R I made a file named "ls-r" and copied the code from the ls -R thread. Then from telnet I go the directory where it is located and type ls-R on telnet. I get Am I not doing something right such as an extra command I have to put on the telnet console in order for me to run this. The Filename Is ls-r (or ls-r.sh, I tried both) and whats written in the file: #!/bin/sh # Edit as needed, if user shares not used, then list /mnt/disk1, /mnt/disk2, etc. #shared_drive="/mnt/user" #shared_drive="/mnt/user/Movies /mnt/user/Mp3 /mnt/user/Pictures" shared_drive="/mnt/disk1/Videos1 /mnt/disk2/Videos2 /mnt/disk3/Videos3 /mnt/disk3/VidLib3 /mnt/disk4/Videos4 /mnt/disk4/VidLib4 /mnt/disk5/Videos5 /mnt/disk6/Videos6 /mnt/disk7/Videos7" crontab -l >/tmp/crontab grep -q "frequent ls" /tmp/crontab 1>/dev/null 2>&1 if [ "$?" = "1" ] then echo "# frequent ls to keep directory blocks in memory:" >>/tmp/crontab echo "* * * * * ls -R $shared_drive 1>/dev/null 2>&1" >>/tmp/crontab crontab /tmp/crontab fi The same thing happened for the PS3 server in which I made a file named ps3 and tried running it. Filename: ps3.sh, Whats written in the file: cd /boot/custom/usr/share/packages installpkg jre-6u11-i586-1.tgz cd /boot/custom/usr/share/packages/mencoder installpkg *.tgz cd /boot/custom/usr/share/packages/pms ./PMS.sh The console respons: If I take the code and paste it onto telnet it runs perfectly find but when I try running it through a file I get errors. Is there something I am doing incorrectly? Any help would be great thanks.
  22. bjp- thanks for the help. I think I finally got it down when one of my disk got full when it shouldn't have =p.
  23. I know this post here is nearly a year old thats why I made a new topic here because I just finished building my first unRAID server (for the most part at least) and I was playing with the SHARES options that unraid offers and was lead here. Hopefully some of you can clarify and answer my questions to these options here. In the visual explanation: From what I read this is saying at SPLIT LEVEL 3 that If I want to make a folder in level 4 then that means the files in any of the folders in level 4 will be placed on the same drive. 'Can I generalize this in saying that if I make a SPLIT LEVEL X that means all the files/folders in folders LEVEL X+1 will be placed in the same disk.' Does that mean that all files and folders created between LEVEL 0 to LEVEL X (including level 0 and level x) can span disks according to the allocation method chosen. How about separate files created at level X+1, do these span disks as well? If several directories then files are created after LEVEL X+1 does that mean that those directories/files will be placed on the same disk as the disk of where LEVEL X+1 was placed. Is there a way for a user share to have more than one split level. What I mean by this is say I take different routes from the parent folder, one route takes me to level 5 another takes me to level 7. I want a different split level for files/folders at level 5 than I do at level 7 even though they are still under the same parents. Say for example I had a share folder for all my family vacation/events which consists of videos/dvds/music/etc... I am assuming this is impossible right? Also since we are taking about shares I had a question about SMB/NFS Export differences. I do not know what these stand for so these are my assumptions from what I read around here. SMB is a general share which applies to all users that you specify and all those users have the same access rights (depending if placed on the include/exclude), correct? NFS is more specific and applies to specific users/PCs to specific share access rights. Am I correct in these statements? For NFS exports I found this in the FAQ. These are the options correct: r-read, w-write, rw-read&write Can I change the IP to the PC name or a user name specified in the users menu such as PC1®,PC2(rw) or user1®,user2(rw) instead of the IP numbers? example- I want three users connecting to a share. I want one to not be able to see it, one able to read only, and one to do read or write on it. How would this be done. Sorry with the X's and other way of explaining things. If you have problems understanding I can explain it clearer. Thanks for the help.
  24. I know this post is 2 months old and I might be asking a stupid question here but since its about cables: Is there a difference between a SATA1 cable and a SATA2 cable on today's SATA2 HDs/Motherboards? I was about to buy the cheapest SATA cables on monoprice.com when I noticed that they were 2 different specs of cables. Is there any difference in terms of speed/transfer rates b/w them or is it just the physical attributes such as the locking mechanism or just a marketing thing?
