Just a question, is there any point having Cache Dirs plugin if you keep your HDDs spinning all the time? Would it for example still cause less HDD head movement both with and without cache SSDs?

Updated to 17.0.1, can still not add exsternal storage anymore, still shows an Red ! without telling me what the error is

So I updated from 16.04 to 16.06 and got an issue. Everything seemed like normal except I could not share with link from stuff that is external storage. Found out the allow share setting was turned off after the update, so I tried to activate it again. But no, error symbol but it does not tell me what the error is! Then I tried to remove it to then add it again, but I cant add it again because the same thing happens! It just shows an red ! but doesnt say why! its exactly how it was when it worked before the update.... holding over the ! doesnt showing it, clicking on it doesnt show anything! Anyone know why? In worst case, can I revert back to 16.04?

Removed it from docker page and then added it again from template, same thing happens. That above and removed and added the tamplate from CA again, same thing happens. I mean same error and WebUI does not open

So I switched out my router/modem because a problem with it. (to one that is a same) And then OpenVPN did not work even after I set up the same port forward, Router/modem IP is the same, NAS IP is the same. When I looked in unraid, the OpenVPN log did not show anything I see as at direct error, but I dont know, I dont quite remember. WebUI was not possible to open. Thank you, that works. work different than nextcloud. It works via browser and chromecast via app if I conncet with local IP, but putting in https://jellyfin.XXX.duckdns.org does not work, just could not connect error

I am trying to set up letscrypt with jellyfin with the included config files, but I do not get it to work. (My goal is really to be able to use it with Chromecast) It just comes to "Welcome to our server" webpage Docker is set up at the same reverse proxy bridge as letscrypt and Nextcloud is on. So I have a few questions: If the thing I am using is "XXX.duckdns.org" for example, I am supposed to write "XXX.duckdns.org" in jellyfin external domain field, or "https://XXX.duckdns.org" ? And in config file I expected not have to change anything because its on reverse proxy bridge, but I tried to put something there behind proxy_pass to see if that works, am I supposed to then write "XXX.duckdns.org:8096" or "the local IP adress of container:8096" or "the local IP adress of NAS:8096"?

Yes, Nextcloud seem to have two appdata folders. The other one, the one is already excluded, via just excluding the appdata forlder. but putting in my own location does not seem to work as I mentioned so I may do something wrong?

So, the plugin complain about file corruption in the preview folder of Nextcloud. As I have told I should probably just exclude the Nextcloud appdata folder, I have tried to do that. I have added it to the custom folder field like this : /mnt/user/NCloud/appdata_[Some Weird Letter and number combination] because thats the Nextcloud appdata and location is called. I then have tried both clicking remove and export and remove and build, but it still complains about the same corruption inside the appdata preview folder. What do I have to do different to get it to work?

Why wouldnt I? Isnt Gbit Ethernet faster than Wifi? Gbit is 100-125 MB/s. So NAS would automatically understand that one ethernet port is to allow acces from desktop but the other is to other things if IP is just set static on both, nothing else that have to be done? Before now, there was zero communication between devices in the house except for chromecast to phone. If communication to the NAS with something on wifi connecting to it counts as using it as a switch, yes. If only between ethernet ports count, no, there is only one single ethernet cable connected to it, and its the one going to the NAS, and its the only cable to it there will ever be. Everything else like phone or my brothers computer if he ever use the NAS (he probably wont will just be through wifi to the router, because no one wants to put an ugly Ethernet cable visible through 4 walls anyway. In my country, cheapest is 22€, and its 22€, if I could do what I am asking and it works completely fine, I wouldn't have to pay that. My NAS have 2 Ethernet ports and I have a cable. I also would have no idea about what switch to get and stuff, zero knowlage. If the cheapest is ok or not or what the hell differences is. WIFI is not a bottleneck at all when connecting to to the outside world, the internet connection to the outside world is. But to the NAS it is, what else would it be? What benefit at all would getting a switch be if what I asked about works? If I got a switch, NAS box would not be on the same layer as the router, it would be the same one as my Desktop. The router is beside the TV box and my parents do not want my NAS there. NAS is basically right outside my office/bedroom/gaming room or whatever you would call it. One wall.

So my NAS is plugged in to the router/modem with Ethernet. My desktop is connected to the router/modem with WIFI. From my NAS to desktop I get 50 MB/s reads and writes. To get better speed, (twice as much), but ethernet between desktop and router/modem is impossible. The NAS does have two Gb ethernet ports. I want to put an ethernet cable directly between the NAS and my Desktop, so a switch isnt needed. Is that possible? If so, how, is there some guide? If possible, will my computer still use wifi (its fine if it does, just curious) to the internet, or does it pass through the NAS (Both are totally ok)? I want an answer before I just start trying it out because it would require a hole in one wall.

I am thinking of getting my first NAS. I am using it for for example Movies (rips of blu rays I have paid for, noting illegal) and videos and photos I have taken with my camera. It will be most of the time used from my Desktop, and less often other things that is on the wifi, but how much I dont know, maybe someone else in the house starts to want to use it too. I expect I wont really watch stuff to outside the house. I guess that its most likely I wont use transcoding at all, but If it ever happens its probably just one 1080p. Wont be a deal breaker if I just cant tho. Might run VPN on it, but I dont know if I will do anything else (Probably not, but who knows, I know for a fact nothing advanced tho) I plan on getting 2x8TB HDDs and run them with parity, will probably last quite a while. (If you think its a better idea to get something else like 3x4 TB or whatever, say it) After some recommendation from some other people somewhere else, I have basically found these components: Case: Lian Li PC-Q25 FD Node 304 (Larger) Supermicro CSE-721TQ (More expensive, so probably not this one) Mobo/CPU: Asrock J3455-ITX Has 4 sata ports, but limited expandablility because only PCIe 2.0 1x slot. Dont know if it would actually be used tho. Maybe to 2 Sata ports Biostar A10N-8800E (Why did AMD release an Bulldozer chip this late when Ryzen is out? clear stock? Seem to be more powerfull, but dont know if I need it. Has 2 Sata ports, but has a PCIe 3.0 16x slot that allows for more expansion. Anything more than the 2 HDDs (that I dont know if I would need, but more likely than needing more than 4) would require me to get an Sata card. Easier to find something that is more than 2 Sata ports, but they are quite a bit more expensive and might actually end up costing the same as the Mobo/CPU combo depending on what I find. Someone mentioned LSI RAID card from ebay and flash it, but that seems risky, and some told its speed might not be the best? Third option would be to go Mobo and CPU that is socketed, but that is more expensive, RAM: 4-8 GB. (1x4 or 2x4 or 1x8?) Speed dont matter that much right? PSU: Not decided yet 300w Is enough, Right? Any have any inputs?
