  1. I have upgrade from 4.7 to RC10 on my HP N40L. It all went smoothly, and the party check was a lot faster. The only issue I had was all the array shares unmounted or something, but I have a feeling this cause when I was playing with simplefeatures and mount drives. I had to powerdown via command and that instigated the parity check. The biggest issue I've had so far (and as yet unsolved) is how to mount a drive outside the array for apps. Otherwise a fantastic upgrade, everything seems to be working, and I can now take advantage of a few plugins like Plex (If I can get a apps drive up and running). Great work Tom, keep up the good work.
  2. I've recently upgraded from 4.7 to RC10, and with SNAP not working anymore, and mount drive not reloading on reboot I went looking for an alternative, and found this. I've got exactly the same problem as above. I was having all sort of permission problems with only some folders, and had a backup so I just started again, and ran a pre-clear on the drive, and then formated it to reiserfs via unmenu. The problem I have is when I go into putty, and type "ls -l /dev/disk/by-id/" I don't get a -part1 listed for the drive. This is all I get. lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 2013-01-13 14:27 ata-WDC_WD1200JD-00GBB0_WD-WMAET2169779 -> ../../hdb I tried adding manually running the command that I entered in the go script as per JoeL's help above and this is the result I got. root@Tower:~# mount -t reiserfs /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD1200JD-00GBB0_WD-WMAET2169779-part1 /mnt/apps mount: special device /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD1200JD-00GBB0_WD-WMAET2169779-part1 does not exist So why don't I have a part1? And how can I mount this drive via the go script? FYI I have mounted the drive successfully via Benni-chan's mount drive plugin, but it don't remount on reboot. I really need an apps drive that survives a reboot because Sickbeard, SAB & my DNLA server run off this drive. At the moment the upgrade is at a standstill.
  3. I attached a PDF file, will that not work? Probably not. Its certainly not as easy to read as a syslog.txt that was asked for. If you provide the info that JoeL and ScienTiFIC suggested you'll probably get more help. At the moment they don't know anything about your system.
  4. Thanks lainie, I think I found the culprit, the PS3 Media Server itself. I'll report back if I find out the problem.
  5. Hi kizer, I've noticed the same BUT if you click on to a link on the forum, say Announcements, your suddenly logged in. I think it's only an issue with the main screen where it doesn't remember your login when you load the forum, after the initial hiccup you stay logged in. Hope that made sense. I'm also using Chrome, and I know another forum that uses SMF has strange quirks with Chrome users.
  6. I think I've narrowed down the problem to Sickbeard. I rebooted last night and with PS3MS, Sickbeard & SABNZB running and it ran from 10pm last night to just before 3pm this afternoon with free memory and I could access via DLNA no problems. There was around 2.7Gb free on a system with 4Gb memory. Sickbeard ran a scan around 3pm resulting in errors. 2013-01-02 03:07:16.085885 SHOWQUEUE-REFRESH :: Unable to parse the filename "TV Show" into a valid episode a valid episode The errors are nothing to worry about, just Sickbeard unable to find a TVDB listing for an episode, but it shows that it was running a scan of the shows on the server. PS3 Media Server was missing again, memory is now a miserable 150Mb free, and cache is a whopping 3.68Gb again! Nothing else was running, SABNZB hasn't downloaded for days. So now that I might have narrowed it down to Sickbeard, does anyone else have any suggestions or experiences with Sickbeard hogging memory? FYI Sickbeard is installed via unmenu and kept up to date. It's currently Alpha Master, Python 2.6.4 (r264:75706, Dec 5 2009, 21:18:28) [GCC 4.3.3] Any help would be very appreciated.
  7. Hi, Lately, over the past few weeks my DLNA servers (UMS & PS3MS) have been disappearing, I reload them via putty and the next time my son goes to stream some media the servers don't appear and have crashed or stopped somehow. Is there any way to tell why these programs have stopped working? There is nothing in my syslog at all about stopping a process. Running unraid 4.7 The strange thing is that I haven't changed anything on the server, and last night I rebooted it, and woke up this morning and no dlna servers. According to unmenu this is my memory usage. Memory Info (from /usr/bin/free) total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 4020096 3896280 123816 0 54104 3717476 -/+ buffers/cache: 124700 3895396 Swap: 0 0 0 Most of it seems to be cached. So do I need more RAM? I run the server with unmenu, snap to assign an apps drive, sickbeard, sabnbz, mrtg, and I haven't updated anything, BUT I have just before Christmas bought a LG LED TV, and Samsung BR DVD player, and the troubles were noticed around that time (I spend ages trying to get the TV to recognised the DLNA servers, then realised they were not running Syslog is attached if your interested. I'm fairly new to linux so I have to admit I'm starting to feel a bit lost with all this. Happy New Year from Australia Cheers. syslog-2013-01-01.txt
  8. Thanks Benni-chan. I'll give you plugin a go again. I tried it ages ago when I first started with unraid on b14. I downgraded to 4.7, but with that I learned a lot about unraid, and linux. I think I'll have to bite the bullet and upgrade to 5rc8a. I was hanging out for a final, but by the look of the forums it's pretty stable, and will allow me to run Plex and other apps. Plex looks fantastic on the LG TV by the way, a complete upgrade from PS3MS. I'm currently running it though my PC though.
  9. Thanks. Now for the nightmare that is upgrading. Any tips? I was going to use a new key, with 5RC8a on it without any plugins/apps. Run that, and make sure data is intact. Then start installing plugins in the following order. SNAP to mount the apps drive, SABNZB, Sickbeard, and Plex all running from the apps drive. Will SNAP boot before the SABNZB, Sickbeard and Plex plugins start installing to it on a reboot?
  10. Hi, I've currently got unraid 4.7 set up with sickbeard, sabnzb & playstation media server (ps3ms). All is running fine. Only 2TB of data, so not a massive system. I just need some advice on how to tackle installing plex. I just bought an LG TV, which can use Plex for media, so I'm thinking I could ditch ps3ms (which has been causing me grief lately, crashing, and not refreshing files) and use Plex for DLNA, and an improve interface on the LG TV. I also have a WDTV, PS3, Samsung Smart Blueray, and iOS devices what I stream to. My main issue is that I'm happy running 4.7, with a SNAP drive (apps) for running all the applications on. To run plex, do I have to upgrade to unraid 5, and do I need a cache drive to run plugins?
  11. I recently loaded RC8a on to a test machine to play with plugins and noticed the same thing. I wonder if it's normal? Certainly doesn't do it on 4.7. I didn't get too far with my test rig, all 3 plugins I tried didn't work and one even broke it! I now doesn't respond after boot at all! Time to start again!
  12. elkay14, sounds like that was causing me issues too during install. TM is working fine for me even though I'm missing a file. Can you explain what the afp_voluuid.conf does? I only have one mac, and I've successfully backed up my mbp, and restored files.
  13. The afp_voluuid.conf is not on my system. In the netatalk folder there is afp_signature.conf afpd.conf and AppleVolumes.default and a folder called db. All the files you listed are installed (I manually downloaded the ssp one). Internet access is fine on my server as far as I can tell. It downloaded the .sh files okay via putty and it syncs time online ok. I did have issues with the downloads when I ran tminstall.sh, it downloaded one, then failed on the next, then when I started again it wouldn't download at all on further attempts. The ssp one seemed to be a broken link. I cheated and ran tmupgrade.sh which downloaded some of the missing packages, and I found the ssp one and manually installed that.
  14. No. I'm only using 8% of a 8Gb Flash Drive. The afp_voluuid.conf files is definately not on my flash drive. Time Machine is working though, and backing up. If there anyway to manually copy this file?
  15. I thought this might be great to backup my MBP with Snow Leopard. I've tried a few times to install this, all seems well until I get to the end. It does say Instalation complete, but it's not working (ie not visable on to my MBP) I'm using settings location for TM backup /mnt/disk2/Backups/TM user=none set size limit =300 (only have a 250Gb mac drive) Start daemon Y. The error message I get is. Any ideas where I can start looking? I've reinstalled it a few times, and same problem. I got a heap of http errors downloading the lib files on one install. Seems libcap couldn't be found, but I restored it from a previous attempt. EDIT: I found libssp-1lk.tgz on the http://www.blueskyhorizon.com/unraid/ site and tried that. I manually install using "installpkg /boot/packages/libssp-1lk.tgz" Tried another install and now I only get "WARNING: Cannot copy afp_voluuid.conf to flash drive", but the Time Capsule is now visable via my Tower! Is voluuid to do with setting the time capsule size?
  16. Skank he wants to remove it not install it. In my go scripts I would edit the go script from Flash/Config/go (via windows) in notepad (I use notepad++), remove the snap start up script below, and save it somewhere , then put it back when you want to run it again. /usr/local/sbin/emhttp & /boot/config/snap/snap.sh -b I'm running 4.7
  17. I'm not sure what version of your MRTG conf I am using but I've been getting this error email while my disk2 is being rebuilt. I upgraded from a 250Gb drive to a 2Tb drive. SNMP Error: Received SNMP response with error code error status: noSuchName index 2 (OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.9.1.9.2) SNMPv1_Session (remote host: "localhost" [127.0.0.1].161) community: "public" request ID: 1716314557 PDU bufsize: 8000 bytes timeout: 2s retries: 5 backoff: 1) at /usr/bin/../lib/mrtg2/SNMP_util.pm line 497 SNMPGET Problem for dskPercent.1 dskPercent.2 sysUptime sysName on public@localhost::::::v4only at /usr/bin/mrtg line 2330 2012-06-04 11:05:01: ERROR: Target[server.disk][_IN_] ' $target->[9]{$mode} ' did not eval into defined data 2012-06-04 11:05:01: ERROR: Target[server.disk][_OUT_] ' $target->[9]{$mode} ' did not eval into defined data I'm assuming that it will go away once the drive has finished its rebuild, but I was wondering if there was a way to disable the emails from within MRTG's settings? I totally forgot I had this running, I usually check it now and again to see how/what is being used resources wise. Adam T, has much changed in the conf? I've running the original release when you got 4.7 working.
  18. Anyone? Lucky me has only 350mins of rebuild to go, and 70 more emails to go. I hope this goes away when I reboot, it's bloody annoying. EDIT: Doh, I was looking at the email and though MRTG was familar, then I realised I installed a while ago to monitor my server ram & CPU usage. It doesn't seem to like the fact disk2 is being rebuit. I'll post up in the MRTG thread with this issue.
  19. Hi, I've got SMTP set up and it's working fine, but this morning I replaced a 250Gb drive with a new pre-cleared 2Tb drive. The drive is slowly rebuilding and says it'a going to take 900 mins to complete at 36,287 KB/sec. Fair enough, but I keep getting this message every 5-10 minutes by email and I don't have a clue what it means, or how to stop it. Normal emails are being received okay, ie I am receiving my "unRaid Resync Notification" emails fine and the daily status updates. Email title is; cron: env LANG=C /usr/bin/mrtg --lock-file /tmp/mrtg_lockfile /boot/config/mrtg.cfg Message body is as follows; SNMP Error: Received SNMP response with error code error status: noSuchName index 2 (OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.9.1.9.2) SNMPv1_Session (remote host: "localhost" [127.0.0.1].161) community: "public" request ID: 1716314557 PDU bufsize: 8000 bytes timeout: 2s retries: 5 backoff: 1) at /usr/bin/../lib/mrtg2/SNMP_util.pm line 497 SNMPGET Problem for dskPercent.1 dskPercent.2 sysUptime sysName on public@localhost::::::v4only at /usr/bin/mrtg line 2330 2012-06-04 11:05:01: ERROR: Target[server.disk][_IN_] ' $target->[9]{$mode} ' did not eval into defined data 2012-06-04 11:05:01: ERROR: Target[server.disk][_OUT_] ' $target->[9]{$mode} ' did not eval into defined data Any ideas? If anyone can tell me how to stop the SMTP process so that I can stop the emails, that would be great. I assumed it's either due to the rebuild, or I need to reboot my server to see if that fixes it but at this rate I'll get 180 emails before the rebuild finishes! Edit: And the only thing that seems to change in the emails is the request ID, which is different everytime.
  20. skoj, you can't preclear a drive assigned to the array. If you want to preclear it you will have to stop the array, remove it from the array, then preclear and then assign it back to the array.
  21. That makes sense flomaster. Hopefully someone can confirm if mine will be okay, currently running unraid as unaligned, but preclearing I force -A aligned. Will it be okay? Also, what speeds did you get during preclear? The first read I was getting great speed, starting at 150MB/s, and the same during writing to the drive, then when I checked the post read it's only at 1/3 of the speed at 50MB/s. Any idea if that's normal?
  22. Flomaster, I'm running 4.7 too, and I've got the same drive ST2000DM001 and I've just started a preclear with -A. I read a post by Joe L. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=10198.msg99785;topicseen#msg99785 that stated "Use the MBR-4k alignment for everything. A disk that is aligned at a 4096 byte boundary is automatically also aligned at a 512 byte boundary." I'm not sure if it's a good idea in my situation because I have 3xdrives (2x1Tb & 1x250Gb) precleared without the -A, and MBR unaligned set in unraid. I posted up my query in another thread, but no reply yet. Maybe I should have posted it in here? I figured I would be making 2 preclears anyway, so I can always change it on the second run. Are you in the same boat as me with unaligned drives in unraid, but wanting to add a bigger advanced format drive? What's your MBR set to in unraid? By the way I noticed that your drive started with sector of 64 on it's preclear, wouldn't that suggest that preclear aligned to 4k even though you didn't set it? I noticed when I loaded preclear that my drive, stock was listed as starting 63 with a 512 byte boundary and I then ran preclear it changed it to 64 (I used the -A command). Seagate state on their website that it's got some new "SmartAlign™ technology for no-hassle transition to Advanced Format 4K sector technology" but I'm not sure how that effects my preclear. I hope someone can help sort point us in the right direction, I've searched and searched and I haven't really found an answer.
  23. I've searched a fair bit but I'm not getting anywhere! Maybe it's just me worrying, but I want to get it right first time! I'm currently running unraid 4.7 on a HP N40L. I've currently got 1xSamung HD103UJ as my parity drive and data drives are 1xSamsung HD103UI & the 250Gb Seagate drive that came with the N40L. I precleared all of them WITHOUT the -A and they are currently set as MBR-unaligned in settings. So, my issue is that I need more space. This set up was originally a test rig to see how unraid would go, and I liked it! and it's now running just the way I like it with all the extra bits I wanted running smoothly. I just purchased a Seagate ST2000DM001 http://www.seagate.com/internal-hard-drives/desktop-hard-drives/barracuda/?sku=ST2000DM001 because it seemed better than the WD Greens, and only $120AU. I hoped to preclear this drive, then use it as a new parity drive, and use the 1Tb parity drive as a data drive but I checked on the forums & wiki first and now I'm more confused than ever! I'll be adding more 2Tb drives as I need the space so I want to get it right now and not have to fix up a mistake later. I've also got a 120Gb WD drive as a apps drive mounted with SNAP (not sure if you need that info) So, do I preclear this new AF drive with a -A or without? I'm confused, and if I change MBR to 4K Aligned undersettings with my current drives install will it all go BOOM. My data is all backed up on my PC, and an external drive, so if I have to start with a clean slate, I suppose I will have to. I do hope to upgrade to 5.0 when it goes final. Thanks in advance for your help.
  24. Just a quick question. I'm still on unraid 4.7 and SNAP 0.47. I want to move my SNAP mounted apps drive to a different position in my HP N40L (into the ODD drive bay) so it will have a different SATA port. Will that effect the drive being mounted in SNAP? I just want to know what I have to do before I start pulling out drives. Edit: Took the plunge after reading more and realising that SNAP uses the serial number to mount/share. Drive moved, and no issues!
  25. I second that. Then I can do all my work on my kids iPad! will save sitting in a stuffy office too!
