If you were still using the old version of unMENU, you probably did not configure mail as you thought you did. Did you COMPILE and INSTALL ssmtp? (unless you compiled it yourself, through the package manager, it cannot handle gmail and ssl, it can only handle un-encrypted mail) If you did not download and install the compiler, you did not install an ssmtp that can handle SSL transactions to gmail, as it must be compiled on YOUR server. (I could not find a pre-compiled version with that capability enabled) Joe L. Hi Joe, yes I did do that. I selected the C complier on the package list, installed that...following the instructions, then I was able to install the smtp package and configure that. In fact, the smpt package would not install, had a error saying compiler not installed....but after I installed the compiler, smpt installed just fine. Is there a conf file I can paste here that would help?

The package you want is mail and ssmtp - Configure unRAID to be able to send e-mail notifications via the "mail" command. It needs to be compiled... So... You'll also need to install the "C" compiler. Don't worry, clicking on the buttons on the package manager will do everything for you, you don't have to learn "C" Click the download button, then the "Install" button. It is because I was unable to find a version of ssmtp with the encryption library compiled in. It caused me a bit more hair loss, as I tried valiantly to connect to gmail with the compiled version I did find. It was one of the incentives I had to get the package manager to where it is today. So... First install the "C" compiler, you do not need to set ti to re-install on re-boot. Then install "mail and ssmtp" after configuring its editable fields. Set it to re-install on re-boot Then, install the e-mail alerts. Set it to re-install on re-boot. All in all, it will take you longer to edit the few configuration fields than any of the other steps. Before you start, use the "Check for Updates" button on the user-scripts page, as lots of tiny fixes and improvements have been made in the past days based on feedback and suggestions. Joe L. I had the notify email stuff working before I upgraded to 4.5.3 and unmenu 1.3, so I have the correct information, server, etc. However, when I hit the TEST Email button, the browser hangs. Is it safe to change from level 2 split to level 1, after you have alot of data loaded? I have 9 drives, which includes 1 cache and 1 parity, so 7 data drives, that total just under 8tb. I only have 2 tb free. Can I just go change the split level? Thanks, Steve

I have a imac and I'm trying to connect to my unraid via NFS, but it says directory doesn't exist or wrong user name and password. hum, not sure how to troubleshoot that. Ok, I think we got the apcups emails working. However, I got one email yesterday and one today, both said, "Tower Communications with UPS restored", and were sent about the same time of day. I have not loss power nor did I get an email saying communication was ever lost. I'm just not sure what these two emails I did get mean. It is looking like I will get one each day. Are they simply status emails that go out once a day? The subject is a bit missleading being I never lost power or communication with my UPS. I haven't tested pulling the power plug on my ups yet, but will do that soon to ensure it sends the email and does a safe powerdown. Thanks

I have bubba raid running wihtout any issues. unotify is working too. My ups is now working, except mail but we're working on it. The issue I have now is that from one of my XP computers, I can't edit the apcups config using the builtin bubba raid edit window. When I hit the save icon, I get an error, very genericl, like A error occurred, sorry...error 122. That was with IE7, also tried Firefox and Opera. Those two also error with with the same message, except the error number was 400. I think it's a buffer error, but I'm not sure. I can use my laptop, also XP and edit the config using the same method just fine so I don't get it. I've turned off all firewalls, A/V, MS Defender, etc and still it does't work. I'm running in mon-admin mode as well. I haven't tried it when logged in as a admin, but that ishouldn't matter. I'll try it anyway. I can nano edit using telnet just fine, it's only the web browser edit that isn't working and only on one of my pc's. I don't know what else to check. I know it's not he server cuz I can edit fine from my laptop. Any ideas?

Thanks bubba. So that would imply that everyone is having this issue where you can't change the configuration and get the error. Is that correct? BTW, when is the next version coming? Nope I have always been able to run u-notify. I have not had a problem getting it to run and configured. The next version will probably be out when 4.5 becomes stable, although he might release a new BubbaRaid for 4.4.2. S So you added the missing lib files and corrected the smartdrv info stuff by recompiling or editing the code, right? Becaues it doesn't work on a fresh install unless you do that. I don't know how to do that so I'm hoping that a new version that works is released. Right now, unotify emails aren't working, not even the test ones and based on what I read, the likely cause is the missing lib files and issues with smartdrv being reported. My ups isn't working either, as I can't change the config, and the apcupsd service quits after a few minutes. Mine is far from being dialed in, to say the least.... help!

is this the right thread to ask about the apcupsd config error? If I click on it from the dashboard and just hit the Save button, I get the error 122, without changing anything??? The service also stops running after a short time ,but that is most likely because it isn't configured correctly. Help please.

I'm trying to config the apcupsd to work with my apc Backups usb device. When I try to edit the config file and change the settings to usb, blank out the device type, etc, I get an error when trying to save it, error 122, "An Error occured while trying to save, sorry......FO...Do we have a wizard for this yet? What is a good split level for Movies if the source structure looks like this Movies/Action/Transformers/files Movies/Drama/God Father/...files What about a Backup share, that has all pictures and docs Backup/Apps/Nero/ I have my movies set to level 2 now and my backup to 1. I didn't mean to set the backup to 1, just goofed. Should I and can I easliy change that without any issues? Thanks

Just wanted to close this one out. The delayed write errors were really the cache drive running out of space. I'll check the Future Options request area to see if there are plans to change this in future upgrades. It would have been nice if the server would have just started writing directly to the drives when the cache drive got full. That said, I would rather have a disk full issue than a darn delayed write one! Thanks for all of the help.

My cache Mover didn't kickoff, meaning it didn't move anything. What can I check to investigate? Also, I can manually hit the Move Now button and it works fine, but I noticed that it leaves the directories on the cache drive. Shouldn't that move Everything off? Thanks

Not sure why, but the cache drive is now moing files....Main page is now showing 78gb free and increasing....guess it just takes a while. What is the best process to disable the cache drive, without loosing anything? Do I just stop the array and remove the Cache drive on the Devices tab? While I only have 1 data disk right now, I have 7 more to add and I want to use Split Level so my data is stored using all available disks. Thanks!

ok, I'm trying to figure out how not to loose what I already have on the cache drive. I've gone into the Shares tab and selected Move Now, but nothing is happening. The cache drive still shows 26gb free. The settings on the cache drive are , Min free space = 2000000 and Mover Schedule = 40 3 * * * I'm watching and refreshing the Main screen and do not see the cache drive free space increasing, meaning that it doesn't look like the cache drive is moving anything??? When I connect directly to the cache and disk1, I see most of the files are still on the cache drive?? I'm thinking the Move Now doesn't work Suggestions? Thanks

no the mover is scheduled to run once a day... once you have filled up your cache drive (moved 320gb of data to it) then it is full and the mover needs to run to clear it for you BEFORE You can add more... it sounds like your problem is because you reach 320gb(filling your cache drive) and there is no more room for more info. I would disable the cache drive if you are moving LOTS of information over (initial dump on the server) and use the cache when your daily data addition is less than 320gb.
