  1. Just did another test, which doesn't give me any answers, but might help somebody help me.  :)

I got the error on a specific file, which was about 5 dir down, copy failed.  I went to that sub dir and started a new copy job from there, and it worked just fine.  It seems to be related to permissions on subs, but only some.  This is dam weird.

What should the permissions look like from a Windows pc?  I looked it shows Tower/steve with Special access....this directory only...when I try to change it to This Folder, sub, and files, it acts like it works, but really don't change anything, meaning when I go back to check, it's back to Specal...

  2. The subject says it all.  I had XP and map to my unraid shares with a valid unraid login, and had no issues at all.  I did a fresh install of Windows 7 and I can map and read the data on my unraid, but I get an error message when trying to write.  The weird part is the error will pop up, but after several files have copied just fine.  For example, I go to copy a dir with lots of subs and files to the unraid share.  It might get 60% complete, then the following error will show up,

    ERROR: Cannot write x:\apps\blabla\aerith2.mid!

    Please remove the write protection!

I can only hit OK, and it terminates the copy job.  I've tried skipping that one file, and it just happens later on another file.  I figured if I had a permission issue, I wouldn't even get past the first file or sub, so I don't get it.  I have full Ownership and Full Access on the Windows side and I can copy the files from and to any of the 3 internal windows drives.  This error only happens when I try to copy to unraid.  Furthermore, I tried taking ownership via Windows permissions, and now if I'm connected as root, I can't delete or create sub dir.  I have another account that is setup on my unraid, that one still works, except I get the above error.

I think this must have something to do with windows, but even that troublies me because I thought the files on the unraid are controled by unix permissions and root always has full control.  If I'm connected to the unraid share with root, why does my copy fail?

I've tried searching for this, but as you can see, its not a case of Access or No Access, it's part Access and that is killing me. >:(

  3. thatis weird.  My issue turned out to be a split level lession for sure.  My problem didn't go away until I increased my split level to 6 on my shares.  They were set to 1 and 2 and each of the shares filled a physical drive full.  I don't have any problem now and I guess I really don't care that my data is spread all of the 8 drives.  After doing this I did run the Parity Check again to be sure all was good.

    Good luck.

  4. In looking at the syslog, I'm getting a No space left on device error when the mover trys to run.  Here is an example of the syslog entry,

Aug 19 06:01:41 Tower logger: mv: writing `/mnt/user0/./movies/Comedy/National Lampoon\'s Vacation (1983)/NATIONAL_LAMPOONS_VACATION.ISO': No space left on device

I don't understand why.  I have a total of about 2tb free.  That share is set to split level 1, although I even had it on split level 2, no help, and on high water.

    More screen shots attached.

Any ideas on what is going on?

  5. My cache drive was working fine, if I copied data to the unraid, it would move it to the main drives at 3:40am everyday.  Furthermore, I could go to the Shares tab and click on the Move Now button and it would move the data right away.  After hitting the refresh, you would see the free space increase each time.  However, I was copiing data to my unraid and I got a message saying it was out of space.  I logged in and see that the cache drive is full.  I left it like that for a few days, thinking when I returned it would be ok, but NOT.  The cache drive is still full and nothing happens when I hit the Move Now button.  I have lots of free space on several other drives, so I don't get it.  I rebooted and checked the logs, no errors and everything looks fine.  Except the code that tells it to move the data to main drives is not working.  Anyone else have this issue?  I'm running 4.4.2, with Bubbaraid.  My system has been up and running for several months with no issues and I have not Smart data errors and no access issues.

    Help!

  6. Is it safe to change from level 2 split to level 1, after you have alot of data loaded?  I have 9 drives, which includes 1 cache and 1 parity, so 7 data drives, that total just under 8tb.  I only have 2 tb free.  Can I just go change the split level?

    Thanks,

    Steve

  7. For the iMac issue see this thread and specifically this post.  Don't ask me why you have to do that but I guess you do.  I do not run NFS shares so I can't comment on this but it should work.  Look through that whole thread in general and you should be good to go.

Thanks a bunch!  I searched but didn't see that post.  Putting the *(rw,insecure) on the NFS line fixed the issue.  ;D

Now off to test my popcorn hour.  I'm hoping this is the same issue and it will work.

    Thanks again!

  8. just a note, OSX users will need to use the following export options:

    *(rw,insecure)

    otherwise the shares won't mount

Thanks for this, but Im getting "could not connect to server because the name or password is not correct."

Samba connection is fine Any ideas?

    Mark.

Hi Mark,  did you ever get this working?  I have a imac and I'm trying to connect to my unraid via NFS, but it says directory doesn't exist or wrong user name and password.

I have set the share to export NFS per the instructions, putting the *(rw,insecure) on the NFS line.  SMB works just fine.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Please disregard.  I had to reboot my unraid for other reasons, and it works just fine now.  I have no issues connecting my imac to the unraid via NFS.

    Thanks,

    Steve

  10. I've read the instructions and searched about how to setup unraid for nfs shares.  I think I have it setup correctly.  I'm attempting to test these shares with a popcorn hour and a imac.  Both are having the same result, which points to my unraid server.  I have 4.4.2 and I'm running Bubbaraid.

After setting up my shares, I added the follwoing in the Export (NFS) line,

    *(rw)

For testing, and because there are lots of other things about the popcorn hour, I would rather continue testing with my imac and pc, and not add the bs with my popcorn hour right now.

I have to admit, setting up the shares seems very easy.  I can connect using my pch and imac using smb, without no issues.  My pc (XP) also has no issues connecting to my unraid server shares.

I've left the Exceptions, Valid Users, and Invalid Users all blank.  My share name is all lower case.

Any ideas on why my imac and pch cannot connect via NFS?

    Thanks!

  11. hum, not sure how to troubleshoot that.  I had this same cable/ups plugged into my xp box, with no issues.

here is the log output from the tower,

what can I check?  Could it be a config file setting?

    Thanks

I never get a lost connection, so is this working or not?

  13. Ok, I think we got the apcups emails working.  However, I got one email yesterday and one today, both said, "Tower Communications with UPS restored", and were sent about the same time of day.  I have not loss power nor did I get an email saying communication was ever lost.  I'm just not sure what these two emails I did get mean.  It is looking like I will get one each day.  Are they simply status emails that go out once a day?  The subject is a bit missleading being I never lost power or communication with my UPS.

I haven't tested pulling the power plug on my ups yet, but will do that soon to ensure it sends the email and does a safe powerdown.

    Thanks

  14. I have bubba raid running wihtout any issues.  unotify is working too.  My ups is now working, except mail but we're working on it.  The issue I have now is that from one of my XP computers, I can't edit the apcups config using the builtin bubba raid edit window.  When I hit the save icon, I get an error, very genericl, like A error occurred, sorry...error 122.  That was with IE7, also tried Firefox and Opera.  Those two also error with with the same message, except the error number was 400.  I think it's a buffer error, but I'm not sure.  I can use my laptop, also XP and edit the config using the same method just fine so I don't get it.  I've turned off all firewalls, A/V, MS Defender, etc and still it does't work.  I'm running in mon-admin mode as well.  I haven't tried it when logged in as a admin, but that ishouldn't matter.  I'll try it anyway.  I can nano edit using telnet just fine, it's only the web browser edit that isn't working and only on one of my pc's.

I don't know what else to check.  I know it's not he server cuz I can edit fine from my laptop.

    Any ideas?

  15. Yes, stopping after running for a shot initial period is a sign of misconfiguration.

I will look into this in the next version.

Thanks bubba.  So that would imply that everyone is having this issue where you can't change the configuration and get the error.  Is that correct?

BTW, when is the next version coming?  :)

Nope I have always been able to run u-notify.  I have not had a problem getting it to run and configured.

The next version will probably be out when 4.5 becomes stable, although he might release a new BubbaRaid for 4.4.2.

    S

So you added the missing lib files and corrected the smartdrv info stuff by recompiling or editing the code, right?  Becaues it doesn't work on a fresh install unless you do that.  I don't know how to do that so I'm hoping that a new version that works is released.  Right now, unotify emails aren't working, not even the test ones and based on what I read, the likely cause is the missing lib files and issues with smartdrv being reported.  My ups isn't working either, as I can't change the config, and the apcupsd service quits after a few minutes.  Mine is far from being dialed in, to say the least....  ???

    help!

  16. I'm trying to config the apcupsd to work with my apc Backups usb device.  When I try to edit the config file and change the settings to usb, blank out the device type, etc, I get an error when trying to save it, error 122, "An Error occured while trying to save, sorry......FO...Do we have a wizard for this yet?

    Thanks

is this the right thread to ask about the apcupsd config error?  If I click on it from the dashboard and just hit the Save button, I get the error 122, without changing anything???  The service also stops running after a short time ,but that is most likely because it isn't configured correctly.

    Help please.
