  1. In terms of sizing your PSU, I would use the following online tool: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp You just have to input your components, and the tool will output the recommended PSU wattage for your setup.
  2. I booted into 'Safe Mode' and noticed the same behavior (i.e. once I manually spindown all drives and close the web GUI, the cache drive spins back up). I'm going to try using v6-beta3 later today to see if that makes any difference. 2/14/14 Update: I'm having the same problem with v6beta-3. Has anyone else experienced this problem with their cache drives spinning back up after a manual spin down?
  3. Here is another observation: - If I manually spindown all drives, the cache drive spins back up the moment I close my browser window (using Dynamix Web GUI). I checked my syslog, but I'm not showing any activity after the manual spindown: Feb 11 13:25:10 fortress emhttp: Spinning down all drives... Feb 11 13:25:10 fortress kernel: mdcmd (59): spindown 0 Feb 11 13:25:11 fortress kernel: mdcmd (60): spindown 1 Feb 11 13:25:11 fortress kernel: mdcmd (61): spindown 2 Feb 11 13:25:11 fortress kernel: mdcmd (62): spindown 3 Feb 11 13:25:12 fortress kernel: mdcmd (63): spindown 4 Feb 11 13:25:12 fortress kernel: mdcmd (64): spindown 5 Feb 11 13:25:13 fortress emhttp: shcmd (8264): /usr/sbin/hdparm -y /dev/sdf &> /dev/null
  4. I ran the 'lsof' command as you indicated, and there was no output displayed.
  5. The subject line says it all. I had been running 5.0rc-16 for over 6 months without any issues involving the auto-spin down of my drives. However, since upgrading to v5.0.5, my cache drive no longer spins down (data+parity drives are fine). Note: I have the "spindown delay" for the cache drive set to 15 minutes. Any suggestions as to which settings I should be looking at? What additional information would be useful to help diagnose the issue? Thanks!
  6. Thanks for the replies! I just ordered an AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 from amazon, and I should have it by the end of the week. Update (2/7/14): I just installed the AOC-SAS2LP-MV8, and it was a snap! Using unRAID v5.0.5, installation was completely plug-and-play (attached a 4TB WD Red Drive to the controller).
  7. Hi All, I'm considering purchasing Supermicro's AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 to expand the # of SATA ports in my system. I have the following questions: 1. Has anyone successfully used the AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 board with Supermicro's X9SCL+-F-O motherboard? 2. Will the AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 support 4TB drives? 3. Will I experience any noticeable performance degradation when reading from drives hooked up to the AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 vs. reading from drives connected directly to my motherboard? Thanks in advance!
  8. There is a command-line option for rectifying this problem. Goto: /boot/config Edit: disk.cfg Make sure the following lines are in place for each drive you wish to "hide": diskExport.1="-" diskSecurity.1="private" diskExport.2="-" diskSecurity.2="private" and so on... Hope this helps
  9. NewEgg is selling 2TB WD's for $99 each (limit 5 per customer): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236343
