  1. I haven't tried using this script since upgrading to v6.3 Whatever was contained in the above referenced post is now gone. I see this happen in a lot of the older threads around here. If anyone could detail the necessary steps to take to make the script contained in the 2014-10-15 FastPreclear_FIX.zip in post 1 of this thread work in unRAID v6.3.x I'd be much obliged. Else can/should I simply use the one referenced in post 1 of the Preclear plugin thread? Just to be 'clear' I do NOT want to use the preclear plugin itself. Last time I tried that it wasted 3 days of my time and still seems hopelessly broken. Thanks for any help!
  2. Greatly appreciated, thank you! Thanks also to Yoshiofthewire for the update.
  3. Thank you for keeping this updated. I'm still interested in trying it. I was holding out for the DVR service to be released at a $30/yr price point but it looks like that's still a ways off.
  4. Thanks for the quick reply and info, greatly appreciated. I should have added that based on some recent smart reports for one of my disks I forsee the need for a new data drive in the near future to replace the older failing smaller one. I have been using the 'parity swap' procedure when this has happened before to take advantage of buying a larger drive than anything currently in the array and then using the old parity drive to replace the failed one. I was just thinking of getting some improvement in the new drive I'd use for parity. It's sounding like the WD Red might be a good choice for me given the cost is not a barrier, though I would say that a lot of simultaneous write activity by different users would not be a factor in my case.
  5. Using unRAID 6.3.2 I have a Seagate Archive 8TB ST8000AS0002 as my parity attached to an IBM M1015 pci-e sata controller. I'm considering swapping in a Western Digital Red 8TB WD80EFZX to be the new parity drive and moving the ST8000AS0002 to be a data drive. Should this present any problem in terms of the controller seeing the WD80EFZX as smaller than the ST8000AS0002? A long time ago I seem to remember there was a thing about some like sized drives from different manufacturers being seen by the controller as larger or smaller depending on something (cylinders maybe?). Looking at the the below specs I don't see anything to help me here. Any input appreciated. ST8000AS0002 specs WD80EFZX specs On a related note I'd be interested in any comments on the conditions where the WD80EFZX at considerable extra expense might be preferred. Like many here I don't believe I've seen any performance issues with the ST8000AS0002 but am curious if the WD80EFZX would be a worthwhile upgrade for whatever reason(s).
  6. https://forum.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=289566&sid=7029dd8e5a39a56b722ce3744a83fa82#p289566 ... As mentioned hereviewtopic.php?f=119&t=31745&start=270Basically, nothing has changed in the linux version of the record engine since Nov 7th, 2016SD when they release a new windows installer they do a update the version number only.. but effectively the 20161107 version and any other version since are exactly the same EXCEPT for the version number.
  7. Thanks Rob I appreciate it! I definitely intend to upgrade to v6 and had gathered the notes for that but just hadn't gotten around to it and then had a drive failure. Something tells me I will want to get that taken care of before attempting to upgrade to v6 Thanks for mentioning XFS I had not investigated that option yet as part of the move to v6. I will look for a wiki article or thread about that. --Don
  8. Thanks Rob for the fast reply and great info, greatly appreciated. I will definitely take note of this for future use of Seagate drives with preclear/smartctl.
  9. Thanks for any comments on what look like high numbers to me for the Raw_Read_Error_Rate, Seek_Error_Rate and Hardware_ECC_Recovered compared to other drives I have including a recent WD 6TB Red. I know Reallocated_Sector_Ct and Current_Pending_Sector are key values to check and those look ok. This is one of the newer Seagate 8TB drives cleared using the Unofficial Faster Preclear I want to use this drive as part of a parity swap procedure including a failed drive. Just to be clear I'm familiar with that procedure. 10. I searched previous threads and saw some posts with results like I have and they look to be maybe acceptable but I'd appreciate comments as I didn't see what look like high numbers to me for the Raw_Read_Error_Rate, Seek_Error_Rate and Hardware_ECC_Recovered specifically addressed in previous posts. These numbers are definitely higher than I've seen with my other drives including a recent WD 6 TB Red etc. I know Reallocated_Sector_Ct and Current_Pending_Sector are key values to check and those look ok but I seem to remember maybe needing to be concerned about a high Seek_Error_Rate . 11. Yep, I too was fairly horrified when I received the package, heard the insides jostling around and opened it to find the blister pack surrounded by only a few packing pillows. I had better luck and my packing pillows were still inflated and the blister pack 'looks' fine, but as you say who knows about the drive. I'm going to go ahead and run a preclear on it and see where it's at. If it has problems does anybody have any experience RMA'ing a drive to tigerdirect after opening it etc?
  12. For the WD60EFRX if you can take advantage of the tigerdirect paypal checkout deal and don't need to pay tax the $235 price is hard to beat. See below thread for more on that. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=36479.0
  13. I just checked out using paypal and upon return to tigerdirect for final approval the $25 credit was applied/subtracted from the total.
  14. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9149259&CatId=4357 So merely matching the lowest price these have gone for over the past month or so. Black Friday has been a bit of a disappointment for me so far. I do need to buy one of these asap though. The question is pull the trigger today or wait to see if cyber monday brings a better deal and risk missing out?
  15. Thank you for taking the time to do this, extremely helpful!
  16. Awesome, thanks downloadski and StevenD, appreciated!
  17. Wow this is a huge deal to me (I have a SuperMicro C2SEE). Can confirm/deny PWMCONFIG doesn't/does work with SuperMicro C2SEE on unraid v5? I'll start a different thread about it.
  18. Ok. The way I read your september 4 post was that I would get one from this round, but after Bob. Guess I misunderstood. No biggie. I can wait.
  19. Just saw your post tonight. Thank you! Apologies for the bitchfest, my angst got the better of me.... No hurry on delivery of the card, was only worried I wasn't on the list. PM or email me if you need anything. --Don
  20. Given the above and the fact that I have a confirmed paypal transaction (charge to my account) August 14 For $75 to the email address per your instructions via PM the same day and have not received a package let alone replies to my inquiries I'm a bit concerned. Per my previous post I PM'd you August 14 02:22:57 PM in reply to your PM of 02:02:17 PM the same day with instructions to send paypal funds to [email protected]. My PM confirmed the order and the paypal transaction to the email address you specified. I'll followup this post with another PM including the details of the paypal confirmation to the email address per your instructions to give you a chance to reply to me privately. I understand your position but please understand mine. PM via this website is the only option you've left buyers other than posting publicly in the forums. The fact that you have more PMs than you have enough time to reply to leaves me few options in this particular situation. I figure you won't remember a previous communication from June when I replied in the affirmative to your offer with the information you requested and then never heard from you. If you let me down, it will be the second time. The difference is this time I have a bill from paypal for $75 and no card. Please make good on this deal. Based on everything you've said in public I still have faith. --Don Don Lindbergh [email protected]
  21. Thanks for the post seanant. I'm sure I'm among many that very much appreciate your generosity of offering a great deal to individual fellow unraid users with the hugely additional benefit of flashing the units. I PM'd you Aug 30 regarding the status of my order from the Aug 14th and haven't heard back yet but understand you're busy. As long as I get my card I'll be happy.
  22. Thanks for the followup. Not good signs for a vendor to purchase this card from, at any price.
