  1. Hi All, I was upgrading my trusty old V5.05 Server to V6.7.2 but had some issues, I reverted back to V5.05 to fix some drive errors as recommended in an earlier post, I Fixed the main problem where a 4TB drive lost it's file system, however 2 disks were showing errors one was a 2TB Hitachi drive showing Pre-fail "relocated sector count", the other a 3TB WD Drive showing Old Age "Current Pending Sector". I have Precleared a healthy Samsung 2TB drive that I had sitting in a cupboard and replaced the Pre-fail Hitachi 2TB Drive with it, started the Array in Maintenance mode and started the Data Re-build, It all seemed to start off ok, I been to work all day come home to find the rebuild has slowed to a slow 2.68 MB/sec and it says its going to take approx 8 days to complete. The array is over 40TB in size with a mixture of mainly 3 and 4 TB drives in 15 drive bays. Any advise as what to do, something must be wrong. I'm terrified I'm going to lose data. Rebuiding: Total size:2TB Current position: 201.39GB (10%) Estimated speed: 2.68MB/sec Estimated finish: 11166minutes Is there and Diagnostics I can retrieve whilst it is running or can anyone offer any advice please? I appreciate that I should have upgraded much sooner, I have no excuse other than I have been pre-occupied and it was working fine as it was for years! I'm loving V6 and all it's benefits can't wait to get this system back to health so I can upgrade safely. Any help much appreciated. syslog-2019-10-02.txt
  2. Thanks to everyone above who has helped me! I am now back up and running on v.5 and rebuild tree has completed. Thanks again to everyone who has helped me you have been awesome!
  3. Completed on Disk13 and says to --rebuild-tree. would I be better off replacing the drive and hoping that it rebuilds ok from Parity (or does it not work like that)? so am I best to "reiserfsck --rebuild-tree /dev/md13" OR to wait and replace the entire disk and let it rebuild? (Not forgetting I have 2 other drives that were showing errors when in v.6) that I was blissfully unaware of until attempting the OS upgrade lol I really appreciate the help guys!
  4. Hi thanks itimpi, I'm attempting that now. will report back how I get on.
  5. I have booted back into V5.0.2 and Disk13 is still saying unformatted. I have ordered a replacement 4TB disk which should arrive tomorrow. I am not sure If I am better off just replacing the unformatted Disk with the new one or letting the system format it as it is.

I have a 4TB drive which was running ok on V5.02 which now says unformated. I have 2 drives with errors. Not sure what to do for the best, any help please? attached syslog
  7. OH No! it was seeing one of my drives as an error (Disk 13), quickly popped my existing USB back (as parity drive would have needed rebuilding in v.6) and indeed one of my 4TB drives (Disk 13) now shows as unformatted. Any sugestions?
  8. Thanks for the quick response, I have used the USB Creator tool and built and that is ready to use. Can I put this new USB drive into my existing server for testing purposes with my current drives, If it all seems ok revert back to my existing licensed USB then upgrade as new build? I am worried about the data staying intact not so bothered about the existing Apps etc. just don't want to lose any data, it currently has 15 drives mixture of 3 and 4tb.
  9. Wish I had done it before to be honest, I upgraded from v.4 to v.5 but you know how it goes, busy life and it was working fine at the time so no need to fry fixing something that wasn't broken. My mistake! LOL Thanks for the response
  10. Hello, My trusty old i3 array is still running v.5.02 it is quite slow now but with over 40tb of data I have been too cowardly to update it. My question is simply can I download the latest OS version onto a new USB drive as a trial instead of updating the current version? I'd like to test it without having to change any of the existing apps that are installed like Twonky. If my hardware is all good I then want to reinsert my old licensed USB and then update to the latest version. Any advise appreciated.
  11. Hi, I was hoping someone would help me. My Unraid Server v:5.0.5 recently suffered a power cut which at first seemed to fry my Supermicro MV8 SATA Controller, but since removing and cleaning up the controller (re-attaching a heatsink which had fallen off) it now appears to be working. and I now have the array back up and running. This machine has been running fine with 14 data drives and one parity drive since 2012 so the components are getting old. I have purchased a new Controller, does anyone know If I can simply swap the controllers or is it much more complicated? I also would like to upgrade to V.6 when I know all is OK. Any advice welcome. regards David
  12. Rebuilt Disk 10 and all seems fine, not sure why I have these troubles, I must be doing something wrong.
