  1. 100% the same thing here as above. Had my usb drive die and had to make a new one. Same issue. It used to work just fine. /var/log/ds_store_cleanup does not exist Any help?
  2. I have the same error, but I want to use TimeMachine so I do not want to turn it off as mentioned above. Any idea what it is? Over and over... Jul 23 14:48:05 Server avahi-daemon[1455]: server.c: Packet too short or invalid while reading known answer record. (Maybe a UTF-8 problem?) It did not stop the error. Thanks
  3. Hi... Been using this script for a long time. Had my flash drive crash today and had to put files on a new drive and get back up and running. The issue is when I try to run the install from within UnMenu Packages, I get... ds_store_cleanup installation: ds_store_cleanup apparently did not install properly, /var/log/ds_store_cleanup does not exist. If I look at the crontab I do see that it seems to have setup... # Removing .DS_Store files 42 3 * * * find /mnt/disk[1-9]*/ /boot -name ".DS_Store" -depth -exec rm "{}" ';'>/dev/null 2>&1 # Removing ._ files 42 3 * * * find /mnt/disk[1-9]*/ /boot -name "._*" -depth -exec rm "{}" ';'>/dev/null 2>&1 # Removing .Spotlight-V100 folders 42 3 * * * find /mnt/disk[1-9]*/ /boot -name ".Spotlight-V100" -depth -exec rm -r "{}" ';'>/dev/null 2>&1 # Removing .Trashes folders 42 3 * * * find /mnt/disk[1-9]*/ /boot -name ".Trashes" -depth -exec rm -r "{}" ';'>/dev/null 2>&1 # Removing .fseventsd folders 42 3 * * * find /mnt/disk[1-9]*/ /boot -name ".fseventsd" -depth -exec rm -r "{}" ';'>/dev/null 2>&1 But Package Manager surely does not think it is installed. 4. Here are the numbers. They do very well. Max temp I have seen is 33C. The top is Drive 1 as you can see, and the drive on the bottom is the parity drive. As you can see, they run all the same which is nice. As mentioned, the highest was like 33C when that was when all drives were running and I was doing all kinds of stuff like moving data from one server to the other and then a full parity check.
  5. Just wanted to send our a thanks to Gary for helping our with a server build for me to replace a 15 drive system. I did not really have the time, and Gary was willing to help out. We needed a small space server but with the storage of at least of what we had before. Thanks to the new 4TB drives, we ended up with not only more storage, but also a much faster system in a small, quite, little box. The server ended up using the new 4TB Seagate NAS drives (ST4000VN000) running on an Intel 3.3Ghz and 8 Gigs of RAM. I will let Gary get into the full specs if anyone cares to know. But this is one nice little system. So, thanks Gary.
  6. Hi... Thanks for the info. Leaning towards new system. Running a full 15 drive system currently with 17.5TB. Where are we? We are mobile. As mentioned, we moved into a motor coach to just travel. Sold everything. Big thing for us as Joe L. would be able to verify. http://OutsideOurBubble.com So...Who wants to build a server and ship it? LOL (BTW..the above box looks clean, small, and quite. All positives when you are in a coach.)
  7. BTW...The Lian-Li PC-Q25B seems to only have 5 bays..not 6. So not sure how you would get 15/20TB.
  8. Never heard of an HP Microserver. Looked it up. Also cool. But also means I start over. Ok, maybe I just have someone make me one and then I need to copy everything.
  9. Thank you very much and it looks like a fine system idea! One of the things I wanted to see about doing was to use the drives I have and NOT have to redo it all and buy all new drives and to reconfigure it all. I know I can copy over things from one server to another, but that then requires another licence for UnRAID.
  10. Hi All... I sent this to LimeTech but no response from anyone. So, well, thought I would post it here... Hi Tom...(Or someone in support.) Hope this email finds you well. Long time it has been and my Lime-Tech 15 bay server is still running great. I come to you today however with a question. When I got this MD-1510/LI server from you, we lived in a 3000 sqft home with a section in the basement just for my NOC. So the server was out of the way and never thought much about it. Fast forward to today, and we are selling this home and moving into a 600 sqft motor coach. In any case, the issue. I will bring my server. Yes, I will find a place to put it. I need to as it has all of our business records on it, personal and business photos, music, and movies. 13TB used out of 17.5TB. So, well, I have to make it work. Whats the issue...ok, I'll get to the point...the noise. Looking inside the MD-1510/LI server in a PC-A17 case we have the 15 drive bays and on the back of each of the 5 bay caddy is a cooling fan. (3 drive cooling fans in all.) They seem to make the most noise. I stopped a fan to see the noise level and an alarm went off. (Did not know I had that...so cool.) However, that got me to thinking. If a fan stops, the alarm goes off and I do not know how to stop it without shutting down. I have no docs or anything with the server or the drive bay system. 1) Can the Alarm be turned off? (I see a switch on the side of the bay by what looks like a ribbon cable connector. No idea what it is for.) 2) Can I stop the fans if stored in a cool place? (Unplug them somehow or are they part of the drive bay system and thus can not be stopped?) 3) If I need to replace a fan, it is special? It is inside some plastic casing that is housing each fan. Or... 4) Can I move to a case that is more quite (And maybe smaller) and still keep my drives all setup? If so can you recommend a system or build me one I can just move the drives into and not have an issue? Thank you. David Bott

  12. Hello All, long time no type. Ver: 4.7 Using Program: Monthly Parity Check Description: This package installs a script that will schedule a monthly parity check on the 1st of the month at midnight. Use NOCORRECT if you do not want parity to be automatically updated. Use CORRECT if you do want it automatically updated. It is recommended that you NOT automatically correct parity, since it might be a data drive that is in error, and the parity drive might be correct. Challenge is determining which is correct, and which is in error. unRAID normally assumes the data is correct and parity is wrong. Pressing the "Check" button on the web-interface will check AND update parity based on the data disks. Each month my system runs full check using the above. I had thought that when it finds a parity issue it auto fixes the issue and I would not see the error again upon the next run. (But as I read now it does not unless I tell it to and that can be a bad thing.) So as you will see below, I get the same error each month (seeing it was not corrected.). Jun 1 00:00:01 Server kernel: mdcmd (301): check NOCORRECT (unRAID engine) Jun 1 00:00:01 Server kernel: (Routine) Jun 1 00:00:01 Server kernel: md: recovery thread woken up ... Or how are users auto doing things like this. Or are you not? I just want to be sure my data is of cose safe. (Currently running the manual CHECK function now to clean this up.) Thank you for the advise.
  13. I do agree, no issues at all. Just was wondering if I would have any benefit really. Thousands on thousands of files (travel photos) and the like. Not to mention I also serve XBMC thumbs etc from it. (One down side to XMBC is that you can not turn off the actors images and thus thousands of them by themselves.) But I do agree...no issue with the board itself.
  14. Hello… I have a MD5010/LI that was purchased sometime back. It came with Super C2SEE Motherboard and 4 Gigs RAM. It was a full system so it also had the 2 Adaptec 1430SE Cards and another card that has a single internal connection and external one. I was thinking up of upgrading my RAM to 8 Gigs and found out it can only handle 4. So that lead me to a few questions. 1) Is the RAM really needed? (Would it help with anything seeing it is just a file server?) 2) If I was to change motherboards, which one is recommended that would work with my parts and would I gain anything with a newer board and even processor as far as the array was concerned? Running… Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E7300 @ 2.66GHz 4 Gigs DDR3 1333 15 Drives with 1 external cache drive totaling 17.5TB of storage with 13TB used. 2 Adeptec 1430SE cards Thank you David Bott
  15. I knew you would come to my rescue! THANKS JOE! I owe you a drink on the ship.
  16. Hello All... Long time no type. Hope you all are well. (Hi Joe! See you in Nov.) Ok, this is what I am trying to do. I use CrashPlan for backup running on a Win7 Machine. I want to map a drive as drive S to access my unRAID server. This I can do without issue when you map it to a user share (Volume). IE... Music However...what I really want to do is to be able to see all my shares (volumes) with one drive mapping. So like... use net s: \\server\myshares Where inside myshares I can see my real shares Music, Videos, Documents, etc... (myshares would be a virtual alias or whatever.) Did I say that right? Hope so. So, I was hoping their was a command I could server side to make one virtual share (volume) that acts like a real share where the other shares show up in it. So then I can map one drive letter to a volume and see it all. (I could not find a way to just go to the server without a volume to mount to.) Not even sure this can be done and I will just need to map multi drives. But thought I would ask some of the pros here. Thank you kindly. David
