Hmm sounds reasonable, in that case I guess the issue is either related to the volume mounted filesystem, perhaps it didn't support hard links, or its a bug in Radarr.

It has worked for others using unRaid, Radarr, and Deluge where Hardlinks work but thank you for looking in to it.

ok cool, so each movie you have added to radarr will copy/move/hard link to /media/Movies/<movie name>/ is that also true yeah?.

Correct, once completed the torrent program places it in the completed folder and then Radarr begins the copy/link to the Movies Folder in the same Media share.

hmm i just had a read through that blog, its pretty in depth stuff, i think the short of it is you cannot hard link across different filesystems, not sure if that is relevant to what you are trying to achieve, looking at your notes i think what you are saying is that the media share and the completed folder are in the same volume mapping (and thus in the same filesystem), right? so:-

    /media

    and

    /media/completed/

    is this correct?

Correct, for Radarr which is managing my movies the relevant folders I have are:
    /mnt/user/Media/completed/

    /mnt/user/Media/Movies/

hard links will mirror the file (not link), thus doubling the disk space used.

I don't believe that is accurate and is not how hard links work based on all the information I have read. It specifically goes over this in the guide/blog I first linked.

  5. Hello folks, I am currently having issues with Hardlinks not working properly in Radarr. I'd like to keep the files seeding in my completed folder without having to copy them to my media location which doubles up the data usage until the torrent is removed. To get things started this is how I have my folder structure setup. I have share called `Media` which has my various folders on the top level where the media is stored.

After this on my Docker page is how I have the mappings setup for Deluge/Radarr

    image.png.a181383dbee3beca573b1bbb1ac03f03.png

/mnt/user/Media is the same mount point for each of the programs, and inside that I have the `Completed` folder where my downloads are moved to when finished and then the carious `TV Shows, Movies, Documentary, etc` folders that is used for organizing in plex.

I have gone over this blog post http://lukemanning.ie/sonarr-hardlinks-unraid/ many times as well as sought out help through a reddit thread and my current screenshots are where I've ended up now. It feels like it is really close to being correct but my latest tests still show double the file size being taken up on the cache drive when something completes and Radarr copies it to the Movie folder.

Is anyone able to lend a hand or is there some more information I haven't provided that would shed some light on the situation? Thanks for taking the time to look.

EDIT: This (https://forums.unraid.net/topic/86157-error-with-ln-hardlink-in-docker/?do=findComment&comment=809179) was a previous post I was asking in earlier this month as well attempting to follow anothers lead.

  6. So i've changed my folder to use what I listed above and updated my mappings to:
    tempsnip.thumb.png.665d02ae38d3eb80068178a183d80ebe.png

Downloaded something and still saw the size on my cache drive increase double what the file was. Is this because I don't have Media as my top level of the share and it being a folder in the greater "Storage" share which then has other files not related to my media? I feel like that is the only difference I am noticing now and was wondering if anyone has any ideas?
    image.png.926ce40999da9cad1f034755c376ab98.png
I double checked to make sure I am not a big dumb and Hardlinking is still enabled in Radarr

EDIT: Tried moving everything to top level of the share which is now named Media (not Storage) and these are my shares:
    /mnt/user/Media/Movies

    /mnt/user/Media/TV

    /mnt/user/Media/Completed

The completed folder is the one my downloads move to when they're complete.

    Docker mappings:

    Deluge

    /data -> /mnt/user/Media/

    Radarr/Sonarr

    /data -> /mnt/user/Media/

    /media -> /mnt/user/Media/

Am at a bit of a loss again.

  7. I'm going to try having my download folders (completed, incomplete, unzipped_torrents) inside my /mnt/user/Storage/Media similar to how he's done it above and see how that goes.

     image.png.dad22b80ccb14bb7beebc37380c9bc01.png

Haven't stopped the containers and updated the paths but will give it a shot later today and post if everything is working or not.

I can confirm the above worked. Leaving this topic open in case it helps someone else with their docker hardlink issues with sonarr, radarr and deluge.

Hello! I've been struggling to get my folder structure and mappings correct for hardlinks for some time now and was hoping you could lend some insight. Looking at the simplicity of yours I feel like I may have gone too far with the folders I have as I am still unable to get the hardlinking working (This was my last attempt at sorting it out

These are my current mappings and am currently just going off Radarr but will configure Sonarr the same once I get one working

    image.png.4b433dd0b75f4efeb482c7e69d598438.png

The folders I have setup are under one share "Storage" and in there are 2 folders, a Torrents folder and a Media folder (And some other things not relevant)
    image.png.6855ed4418a624fa2648cb5350e54f36.png

Each folder, torrents&media are laid out in with the same folders, and a couple extras in the torrents folder for stuff not downloaded from sonarr/radarr.

The reason there are many is because of how I have my sorting setup in Plex, and had intended to have deluge move the completed ones to their respective folders depending on the label they are downloaded with from Radarr/Sonarr. But yeah, am I close to having it sorted out? Would I just need to change my Sonarr /Media map to /mnt/user/storage/media ? Would that affect which folder the completed downloaded are hardlinked into?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  9. I have been searching around to find a way to move the files from this disk and am not sure what the best method to do so. One suggestion is using the docker "Krusader", is this one you are familiar with? Is there a way to reassign the data (that is available) from the disk7 to disk6 on the array without use of a docker, Or would that be the best method?

  10. Sorry when I say "Not in use" I mean that mostly, though it looks like some newer things have started being placed on it even though Disk 6 was still at 50% (Disconnected disk 7 is at 9% use). Now the data on there is not the end of the world to replace, but would the steps above lose those files? I had initially wanted it to be reconnected (again this is why I did the on off disconnect business previously mentioned) but that is when the pci expander appears to have failed.

Am I explaining this poorly? I apologize if I am, but very much appreciate your input.

  11. Disk 7 is "new" in the sense that it was bought/added the same time as disk 6. It was the only one that's plugged in to the pci expander that didn't reconnect and instead is listed as "disconnected". Since the parity is failing and disk 7 is not in use yet (disk 6 is only 50% full), what would be the best way/series of actions to replace the failing parity drive with disk 7? That was what I was hoping to do but when I had followed the steps to have it register again (stop array> power down> Disconnect> Restart array> Power down again> Reconnect drive> Power on) , the rebuild started and that's when the 6 drives disconnected halfway through. I need to figure out what is wrong with the pci expander and if that needs replacing, but would like to ensure the data is safe first.

  12. Here is the latest I just grabbed after the read check just finished. I believe there is an additional issue with the PCI sata expander because during last nights rebuild all 6 drives disconnected. I had to power down and restart which allowed 5 of the drives to re-appear but one of the drives is still listed as disabled (Luckily the least used one). I had checked the connection for the 6 drives that momentarily disconnected and all but 1 reconnected without issue.

I am now right back where I started, I have a disabled drive and a failing parity in a now unprotected array.

  13. Hello there! have a bit of a situation here and am unsure how to proceed. To start with a little information, this occurred while i was trying to get a disk to no longer be listed as "disabled" (from the very first part of https://wiki.unraid.net/UnRAID_Manual_-_FAQ). I followed the steps and once i started it back up and re-assigned the disk to the array, the rebuild started but now i appear to have hit some read errors from the Parity drive and the estimated speed had dropped to around 100KB/sec with an estimated finish of 2 years (certainly not ideal).

The parity appears to be giving some "reallocated sector" error/warnings which i wish i had picked up on prior to this disk replacement but here we are. I've looked through which files are on disk 7 (the one that i used the above steps to no longer be disabled) and it's nothing that can't be replaced, and it is the same size of drive as the parity and it is the only drive I would have available to replace it. So i am thinking my current bad scenario would be to lose what is stored on there and use this as the new parity if the current one has kicked the bucket, but am wondering what to do or how to do it.

This rebuild taking place does not appear to be going anywhere other than the errors line steadily climbing (Currently at 18k). How boned am I and/or what would you suggest? Due to the steps required for the drive replacement I unfortunately don't have a systemlog prior to shutting down but I have attached the diagnostics I was able to grab.

EDIT: Looks to have stopped at 33,000 errors on the parity and we're back to a ~11hr estimated finish at 150MB/sec

With the array stopped, disable VM and docker services (assuming they are using cache), unassign all cache devices, start array, this will make Unraid "forget" cache config, stop array, re-assign original cache (you will no longer get the "data will be lost" warning), re-enable services and start the array.

I couldn't wait and went home during lunch to turn it back on and follow your steps. That did the trick and I'm back where I started, thank you again very much for the assist! So to do this properly, I need to assign the current cache as a pool yes? (Even with only the one drive active, I have it set to 2 slots as mentioned in the FAQ) Where would I go about setting this so when I repeat my steps it mirrors it successfully.

EDIT: I repeated the steps in the FAQ while this time having the cache slots set to 2, and it appears to be working as initially intended. Thanks johnnie.black for getting me back on track.

  15. Hello, I recently got 2 new SSDs to increase the cache drive size as well as having a back-up wince that is where the VM is living. I was following along from this post

and connected 1 of the new SSDs and started it back up. As indicated in the post above, I stopped the array and changed the cache drive from the old one and selected the new one. Once I had selected the new cache drive and restarted the array, it did not appear to copy over from the initial drive or start a btrfs replace (Confirmed both drives were this type). I was then suggested to run the mover, and there is now a little over 22GB on the cache drive though I am unsure whether or not this is the previous data, as I am still unable to restart my VM. I had them both connected at the same time and am unable to go back to the original one as it states the drive will be formatted.

What have I done wrong? Is this an issue with the file location changed and needing to update the VM directory? Was i supposed to move the VM data prior to connecting the new drive?
EDIT: Found out that the 20gb is my docker allocation, so that doesn't account for the VM on the original cache.
