  1. You should be able to accomplish this with a VM
  2. You need to delete all the files in the share. You can use mc to do this if you're sure that all files should be deleted.
  3. Just a clarification, you can move between user shares, and you can move between disk shares, but you cannot safely move between disk and user shares, if the files on disk shares are also in user shares. Thanks RobJ, I couldn't remember the exact scenario where data loss could happen. Much appreciated.
  4. You haven't given enough detail. Where are you moving the data to? How are you moving the data. I suggest you use disk shares as there is a known bug moving data between user shares.
  5. You can't really mine on cpus any more. You could mine with a gpu passed through to a vm. At this point in time it's probably not worth the cost of the electricity.
  6. Are your other devices on the 192.168.0.x subnet? Can you ping anything from unRAID, if yes, internal/external, or both? Does the port on you're connecting unRAID to on the switch or router light up? If multiple switches/routers, are the ports further along lit up? This is probably a networking issue.
  7. Yep. Reply #4 above - "RAM: 8Gb (tested OK)" Sorry, I missed that. How long did you let memtest run? I would recommend overnight at a minimum, multiple passes are suggested.
  8. Do you get any errors in the syslog when this happens?
  9. The USB key shouldn't get hot, as it's mostly only being "used" during boot. Unless you're using it for apps (which will kill it quickly) instead of a data disk or cache drive. Also I can't imagine needing more than 8 GB (unless you're using it for apps). I'm currently using a Kingstion FCR-HS3 card reader, as is at least one other user, and I've updated it so I'm pretty sure it's not blacklisted. I switched to this card reader as there is a problem with certain USB controllers under ESXi, and unRAID 6 that causes the usb device to reset constantly. This doesn't happen if I use a reader. Due to the new procedure for moving licenses to new USB devices in unRAID 6, which is automated, and for me took less than 2 minutes, using card readers is less important than it used to be. You are limited to using this automated process 1x/year, but if you are killing multiple usb devices per year, you're probably doing something wrong or have a hardware issue. USB devices I've used successfully: ATP Nano 4GB Patriot 4GB Xporter
  10. Here's how I've got mine set up (ups also connected to a raspberry Pi that's running apcupsd). You'll want to change the power off/down timeout settings I'd guess, and the IP address for sure.
  11. How much of your memory is being allocated to onboard video, if any?
  12. Probably because they're already on your array disks. AFAIK there is no way to automatically move them back to cache.
  13. It's good to note that with the addition of the unassigned devices plugin in unRAID 6, you can update unraid 6 final (and some betas) via the menu and then easily mount the VMDK within unraid, and copy bzimage and bzroot to the vmdk from /boot to the mounted VMDK drive. After rebooting you will be on the latest version. IMO there's no need to have someone maintain the VMDK image given how simple this process is now. I guess it would be nice if LT made a vmdk though.
  14. I'm still seeing some issues regarding this (with a card reader that is supported by unraid, and a generic microsd card). To recreate, I simply reboot, and navigate the web-ui until it hangs (basically all menus), it eventually does. And then I get something along the following in my syslog: Jun 26 23:10:06 phatstore kernel: usb 1-1: reset high-speed USB device number 2 using ehci-pci It doesn't repeat like it did with a usb flash device, and I don't know if a better microsd card will resolve it, but just thought I'd post as a heads up.
  15. I think this thread should note that some ESXi 5.x and 6.x hosts show USB reset issues with PLOP and USB passthrough on unRAID 6. 2 members have been able to work around this issue by using microsd cards attached to Kingston FCR-HS3 devices,.
  16. ok, thanks for the info.. so you are using reader with flash card(which one? ) and if you have paid licence, then you must transfer your key? I'm using a generic 32GB microsd card, and I transferred my license from a USB flash drive to the key reader via the unRAID web gui.
  17. http://www.amazon.ca/Kingston-Memory-Card-Reader-FCR-HS3/dp/B005ES0YYA That's what I'm using, I ordered a second for further testing, but the one I bought works properly, and was authenticated via the automated process unRAID is now using.
  18. Thanks a lot Dan, much appreciated! Will look into it shortly. Off to search for a microsd card.... I just used the same card reader with a generic microsd (32GB was all I had on hand). 20 minutes in, no more reset messages, whereas I was getting them about 40 seconds after booting, and then every 30 or so seconds. Running esxi 6, passing through the usb device, USB connected to a usb 2.0 port (wire from mobo header).
  19. I just had success with the same reader (I bought it a couple years ago). Was able to remove a USB thumb drive, and activate this via unRAID's new guid process. This also allowed ESXi 6 to use the media without any reset messages. Thanks again Dan!
  20. Thanks a lot Dan, much appreciated! Will look into it shortly. Off to search for a microsd card....
  21. Dave, I haven't seen errors in the last week. 1. Boot ESXI from USB 2. I use the USB header on the MB 3. Reader Kingston FCR HS3 4. vmdk boot 5. 6.0 final Cannot say when errors were cleared as I did not really followed it. Dan USB Header (which would be pins on the motherboard, perhaps with a cable attached going to ports on a case), or USB Slot, which would be a USB port on the motherboard or USB. Also what speed was the header/port (usb2/3). I have one of these, or a very similar model (looks the same). So I can test it. X9SCM has USB2 only. Sorry to bother you again (I'm remote to where the install is so I want to make sure I have everything I need). Do you have a USB device plugged into the card reader, or something like an SD/MicroSD card? Thanks for getting back to me so promptly.
