  1. tried pin only 4 cores to VM and still same issues.
  2. Tried reduce RSS to 2 and didnt change anything. is it related to my vm running as i440fx-5.1 ? i never used q35 before, would it make any different? what made me curious is that it used to work perfectly fine for more than a year and suddenly this, i think i saw someone mentioned similar issue before and create similar new VM don't have same issue. this made me think that it's windows related issue but can't figure out where should i look into. for the high retry count, i think it's related to windows firewall or something, iperf3 from unraid having issue testing to windows vm. other way around it's perfectly fine and testing from laptop to both vm and unraid also perfectly fine Tested changing back to virtio and it's worsen to around 1Mb/s
  3. updated unraid to 6.9.0 rc2 and now i got 1-300 Mb/s from vm to unraid. top 2 are tested from unraid to self VM and bottom one is other way around My system is 3950x + 64GB ram
  4. trying again and now from unraid to VM is fine now but otherway around still same speed
  5. this is vm on same machine as array. what funny is that my laptop connected via wifi can have 4xx mbps to the array and vm.
  6. here are result from the ping 64 bytes from 192.200.12.8: icmp_seq=56 ttl=128 time=0.191 ms 64 bytes from 192.200.12.8: icmp_seq=57 ttl=128 time=0.204 ms 64 bytes from 192.200.12.8: icmp_seq=58 ttl=128 time=0.153 ms 64 bytes from 192.200.12.8: icmp_seq=59 ttl=128 time=0.287 ms 64 bytes from 192.200.12.8: icmp_seq=60 ttl=128 time=0.172 ms 64 bytes from 192.200.12.8: icmp_seq=61 ttl=128 time=0.138 ms ^C --- 192.200.12.8 ping statistics --- 61 packets transmitted, 61 received, 0% packet loss, time 61423ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.118/0.189/0.310/0.039 ms Files transfer speed never go above 700KB/s which in line with around 5Mb/s from iperf
  7. I'm having issue of really slow transfer speed between win10vm with dedicate nvme passthrough and unraid array tested with iperf and i got around 5Mb/s from vm to array. but got normal speed from other laptop. internet connection aren't affected, only when trying to move file from win10vm to the array is really slow. Tried update unraid from 6.8.2 to 6.8.3 update virtio to latest version. anyone could point out to where i should look into?
  8. Hi, I did some search and found some complain on using this ssd for cache and having trim issue, while some other posted their spec using the same ssd. Could anyone who using this drive give some confirmation if this m.2 ssd is working on unraid?
  9. I think it might be that the adapter is bad, i tried the adapter on different board and having similar result. sometimes it's seeing drive in windows, sometimes just 0byte drive but i can't initialize it or anything. Remove the adapter and M2 working fine in the m2 slot on z390 taichi mobo The adapter being return now, probably go get Asus hyper m.2 adapter instead. Still can't see why the board which basically do nothing other then re wiring the PCIE to M2 can be fail. Thank you for your response.
  10. Hi, I'm trying unRaid 6.7.2 my machine spec CPU : i7-4790k MB : Z97 Maximus VII Formula Ram : 4x8GB DDR3 2400MHz VGA : None I'm trying to add new NVME drive to be use as cache disk but having trouble that the new drive isn't showing in unassigned devices at all I tried checking in BIOS and BIOS is detecting the drive. Samsung 970 EVO Plus is mounting on ORICO m2 to PCIE x4 adapter on PCIE 1 or 2 (Tried both same result) I think the NVME controller is found by unRaid but i'm not sure why the drive isn't showing in "MAIN" IOMMU group 1:[8086:0c01] 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor PCI Express x16 Controller (rev 06) [144d:a808] 01:00.0 Non-Volatile memory controller: Samsung Electronics Co Ltd NVMe SSD Controller SM981/PM981 Any guide? maincondo-diagnostics-20190919-1834.zip
  11. Hi Rorton, Personally, i'm thinking X5675 is way too aged, even though it 6 cores with HT, it should be much slower that the new 6 cores i5-9400f. Performance/price wise X5675 is better. but overall, new cpu should be better as the 1366 CPU is high power consuming and running pretty hot. Also i don't think you will find the 1366 itx board anywhere. so it won't fit in d380 case. Please do note that i'm just start running unraid, i'm not 100% sure that 9400f will be enough. But i think it should be....
  12. Hi guys, Not sure if this is consider right place as it have everthing from CPU+Mobo to SATA controller question. I'm considering Unraid for new NAS build and just found out that it can also be use for gaming (AAA games on 3440*1440 75hz monitor) too. Not so sure on which docker / plug in i'm gonna use but should be mainly on media storage application. On windows, other than daily usage + gaming, there will be times when I will have to use photo editing and CAD+CAE analysis (Stress/Thermal/Flow). My current daily use PC having following spec CPU : i5-8600k MB : Z390 Taichi Ram : 4x8GB DDR4 3200MHz VGA : 1080ti Storage : 512GB M.2 NVME SSD + 3TB HDD + 4TB HDD My current NAS is Seagate NAS Pro 4-Bay with 4x4TB HDD, I'm having trouble with slow transfer speed even with link of 2xGB Ethernet and on my current NAS + Slow processing performance. Currently, i have to turn on both as i will use my gaming PC to do Plex job by pointing it to NAS. Plex possibly will only run maximum of 3 1080p streaming but i'm considering having headroom for 4k transcoding for future usage too. What i'm thinking at the moment is - keep the windows as BAREMETAL and pass through it the VM (i believed it possible, right?) - combining all storage and replace the 3TB drive with another 4TB to have 20TB Protected comparing with previously 12TB protected + 7TB unprotected - With 6 SATA used, got 2 spare port for future expansion or cache drive. I have my old PC lying around unused at the moment. CPU : i7-4790k MB : Z97 Maximus VII Formula Ram : 4x8GB DDR3 2400MHz VGA : None Storage : 512GB SATA SSD Q1 : With just 6 cores/threads, will it be sufficient for plex transcoding + gaming ? Q2 : MB has 8 SATA onboard, but 2 of them control by ASMedia ASM1061. Will it be usable? on can be use as cache drive? Q3 : Based on current setup, would it be better to run NAS on old machine and keep my daily use PC as it is. Q4 : If combining machine have higher benefit, i'm thinking of changing CPU to 9900k (+250$ after selling 8600k) or to 3900x+X570 Taichi (+450$ after selling CPU+MB)
