Okay that’s at least a start. If I go down to a single parity drive, I’ll have room for 5 data drives. So I could have the other two 12 TB + three of the 4 TB. That would be my preferred setup. So my two 4 TB parity drives will be no more, then the one 4 TB drive in the data array, do I just need to hard copy all the files off it to one of the 12 TB drives?

Hey y’all,
wanted to get some opinions on best route to take for some upgrades. I currently have 2 x 4 TB parity drives and 4 x 4 TB data drives. I have reached 100% utilization finally. I bought 3 x 12 TB drives last Black Friday but haven’t put them in.
I would like to move the parity drives to a single 12 TB drive and also upgrade 2 of the data drives to 12 TB as well. What would be the best way to go about this upgrade? This will be my first hardware upgrade since starting up my server so I want to do it right.thanks all!

Yes, then the container should be updated since it was downloading, reconfiguring and verifying.
It did just finally update to the newest version now. Thanks for confirming everything and appreciate your work on this docker!!

You can of course try to force an update but that‘s bot recommended.
Please try a normal restart in a few hours.
Here's the log after restart if helpful. I deleted the majority of parts with progress status for brevity. The last line showed up as a warning.

From what I know the Ark Linux server version can be a bit behind and you have to wait a bit, try to restart it in the next few hours again and see if it pulls the update.
Do you have any AdBlocking software somewhere on your network?
I will try again to make sure.
I have adblocking on my desktop, but no adblocking docker or anything for the network level.

Hi all,
Brand new with running gameserver dockers here so bit of a newb question.
I am running ArkSE server container and it was doing just fine for the last 2 weeks, but now Steam has pushed out a new patch version.
When I go to log in to my server, it is not showing up, because it is still running the old patch.
I restarted the container but this did not fix the issue. How can I force the container to be running the new patch version to match steam? Thanks!!

Saiba,
I'm having the same issue.I backed up my world and reset all the non-relevant chunks using the MCA editor program.
Now I'm trying to move my server to 1.17 in MineOS and it will not start.
I have seen other instances of this happening - looks like it could be some incompatibility with the old version of java..
Need some help to get this resolved though - just wanted to let you know you are not alone -
Hey all,
I have an issue with my cache drives - they are showing up as read only which is causing all dockers to act up.
I have tried a few common fixes seen on the forums like rebalancing the cache but haven't seen any success yet.
Wondering if someone can look at the diagnostics file and see if there are any other thing I can try.
I also got this error that I've never seen when I tried to write the diagnostic file.
Thanks!

Hey Jorge - wanted to let you know it looks like this solution worked.
I changed the RAM speed to 2400 MHz in the BIOS (updated BIOS while I was at it)
Then ran 2 back to back parity checks. The first still found and corrected about 1000 errors, the second was completely clean.
Thanks so much for your help!

Thanks, Jorge, appreciate the tip.
Just to make sure - I am running a 2nd gen Ryzen with 2 of 4 DIMS (dual channel) populated, so I should set my mem frequency to 2400 MHz in BIOS?
Would you suggest running any more tests other memtest if that doesn't help?
-
Small numbers of parity sync errors were corrected starting about a month ago - now I have ran a few within the last week with several thousand errors being "corrected". If they're being corrected, shouldn't they not appear on the next scan?
Unless there is a hardware issue that is causing this.
Posted my diagnostic file if anyone wants to take a look and can figure out what might be causing this.
I'm having trouble starting VMs and wondering if the drive space for them might be corrupted?
Thanks in advance!
-
Thank you, I will try that!
The disk has a three year warranty of which only 1 year is used - so if worse comes to worse I am covered for a replacement. Thanks for looking over the data!

I had this same issue happen to me today - one drive shows up as disabled - contents emulated.
I'm attaching the SMART report here so someone can review it. It shows "Passed" on the overall health assessment.
Parity check was performed 3 days ago with 0 errors.
Any help would be appreciated! This is the first time I have come across this situation in Unraid.

thats a successful start, can you confirm you have set the correct lan_network, see Q4 here if you dont know how to configure it correctly:-
https://github.com/binhex/documentation/blob/master/docker/faq/vpn.md
I opened the console for the docker in Unraid, ran the ifconfig. See attached. Couldn't copy/paste for some reason so took a screenshot of it.
It's reporting eth0 inet of 172.17.0.2
Even though when I set it up, I specied LAN network 192.168.1.0/24 as the LAN_NETWORK variable.
I'm not sure if this is causing the discrepancy..
Let me know what you think. Thanks!

ok great, in that case can you follow the procedure below:-
https://github.com/binhex/documentation/blob/master/docker/faq/help.md
Here's my supervisord.log file from today after setting debug to "true" and restarting the docker. Very long so uploading instead of copy/pasting. I changed my PIA username and password to "username" and "password" for this version of the log file just in case
Thanks in advance!

ok so have you configured deluge via the web ui to use the volume mapping /data for incomplete and completed downloads?.
Currently going to:
/data/Incomplete for my downloading files and
/data/Completed when they are finished.

Using unraid! I guess that would have been important to mention.

Hey everyone!
I'm working on getting my DelugeVPN container set up (used SpaceInvaderOne YT video for reference for initial setup).
I'm using PIA for the VPN.
After getting everything set up, I got my first torrent started and saw reasonable speeds (~5MB/s download) but after 30s to 1 min of these good downloads, my download speed drops to 0 kb/s and never recovers.
I can delete the torrent and restart the docker and try again but see the same pattern every time I try to restart a torrent (have tried using a few different connection points and toggling port forwarding on/off.
Wondering if anyone can help with further setup to get stable downloads. Let me know what data I need to attach! Thanks!

So could I just use the 2 Samsung Evo's as the cache pool (one for redundancy) and maybe keep the NVME as an unassigned drive for Windows 10 VM?
-
Hey Trurl,
I've never had an M.2 drive and always wanted one, and got a good deal on the Intel 660p NVME so I threw it in there.I'll have three SSDs for cache (total ~1.5 TB), but I'm assuming I will get read/write speeds of the slower drives?
That doesn't really bother me though.
Are there other possible uses that could take advantage of the NVME speed?

Hi everyone!
My wife and I are building our first server!
Here are the parts:Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix X470-F
CPU: AMD Ryzen 2700X
GPU: EVGA Nvidia 1660Ti XC Ultra
CPU cooler: CoolerMaster ML240L AIO
Case: Fractal Design Define R6
Storage: 1x 512 Gb Intel NVME M.2 SSD, 2x 500 Gb Samsung 680 Evo SSD, 4x 4 Tb Seagate IronWolf NAS hard drives
Power supply: 1000W EVGA G+
Planning on using as a NAS (for our side gig laser cutting/engraving business), Plex Media Server, and Windows VM for light workloads or gaming if we have a friend over (we already have another dedicated gaming PC).
My dad suggested VMWare when we first told him we were setting up a server (he's an IT professional and uses VMWare for his home server) but to our eyes it looked like VMWare has somewhat limited hardware compatibility.
I found Unraid from the Linus Tech Tips videos about it and am giving it a shot! It seems to be a very flexible and user friendly platform, so for a first timer, this will be a huge plus.
Wanted some feedback from you all! Do you have any useful tips for getting set up for a first timer? What are some of your must-have or favorite applications (I think they're called dockers here?) and other cool stuff you do on your Unraid machines.
Thanks everyone in advance and I'm looking forward to joining what looks like an awesome community!

Upgrade parity and data drives
in General Support
Posted
Yeah I got that bit, but I will also have to give up one of my 4 TB drives for a 12 TB, would it be best to just copy the data off that 4 to the 12?
