  1. After some more reading, it looks like I might have to go ahead and let the drive preclear to then format it correctly. Why is this? I thought preclear was just a peace of mind testing tool and not a necessary step to even use the drive.
  2. Hey guys! I can't figure this one out, even though it seems like it should be pretty simple.. I upgraded my parity drive to a larger one and now want to use the old drive in the data array. No matter what I do it stays as unassigned. I've tried deleting the partition and adding it without formatting. Reformatting to xfs, even though the array is xfs encrypted. I've restarted the pc. The only thing I can think of is going into the new config tool but I don't want to mess with that before asking here. Any help is appreciated!
  3. Yeah man unfortunately I've pretty much tried every which combination possible
  4. Okay I figured I would wrap this one up. I'm fairly sure that nothing on my end is actually wrong and the Windows vdisk is just throwing a fit because of the new hardware. I didn't realize that was actually a thing... but nonetheless thank you
  5. I messed with some configurations and was able to reset windows... Which sucks but its running smooth now... What on earth in my original 2 vdisks would cause it to break? I'm so confused
  6. Restarted it and it froze again... Here is the diagnostics file. unraidserver-diagnostics-20191204-1224.zip
  7. Okay uhmmm... I didn't change anything, started it up again to give you diagnostics and now it magically works.. With one caveat, it is pretty sluggish and is consuming a ton of resources. Any idea where to go from here? I'm afraid to restart it lol
  8. Hey guys! I just upgraded to a new Ryzen server and now my windows 10 vm isn't working. It either just straight freezes or windows fails to repair the os. I've also tried using a known working vdisk backup which yielded the same results. I'm really at a loss here because my Ubuntu vm works just fine. Any ideas? Thanks.
  9. Okay so I figured it out. A couple things threw me off. The lock symbol next to the drives was showing "to be encrypted" and also when prompted for the original password, it read "new passphrase" with the repeat passphrase section directly below it. As if asking for a new password. In the end, it really just wanted the og pass to start the array. All good, thank you for your help
  10. Hey guys, I just installed a new LSI card and all the drives show up, except for now they are listed as to be encrypted and its asking for a new encryption key. The drives are still formatted as xfs encrypted so I'm not sure what's going on. Will Unraid try to reformat them if I enter a new key? Or do I just have to enter a new one and start the array?
  11. Aha! Yep the tips and tweaks plugin was messing with things. All set now, thanks for the command line help, much appreciated!
  12. Okay so that command showed stock as well so i restarted and dialed it back to 4.5. When using that command before starting the array, it reported as 4.5. But after starting the array it goes back to stock. I read somewhere else that it could be the tips and tweaks plugin. What do you think?
  13. Now that my unraid server is all set up and stable I'm trying to overclock the cpu. I went into the bios and set the cpu at 4.6. Ran some stress tests in windows to make sure it was stable, then went into Unraid and installed the dynamix system info plugin and it reports the cpu still at stock speeds. Tips and tweaks is also set to cpu performance mode. Is everything just reading the speeds wrong or what's going on?
  14. Very interesting! So to summarize, I'm basically gambling with the sata cards. Thank you for your help guys, I'll switch them out as soon as I can!
  15. Okay gotcha I'll definetly replace them! What are the risks with using the marvel sata cards? Was Windows just not reporting errors or will the cards just eventually fail me?
