[PLUGIN] ZFS Master
Hello! I also have some feedback. It is nice to be able do perform snapshots, however I see there is no scheduling function for snapshots. It would be nice if it could be scheduled. I see there are other plugins and scripts for such, but I think it would be nice if it was just part of ZFS Master.

Plex Spinning up disk but not accessing anything
It would seem that this was the issue, guess it’s some quark specific with the ATV Plex accessing the server and it needing to read something from the docker.img file. Is odd that it only happens with the ATV though… This command does nothing by the way, I run it in the Unraid terminal and it just does not return anything ever, even while I’m deliberately coping a multi GB file via SMB.

But I will move it over, but don’t think it will change my issue, I believe I tried this in the past.

Plex Spinning up disk but not accessing anything
Not from what I have seen, I have had disks not spin up for days when I have not used plex or the like (with it still running in the background of course)

Plex Spinning up disk but not accessing anything
From what I was reading while researching what is stored where by default that is the storage location for VM templates and Docker images. And is only accessed when making a VM from a template, Starting a docker (once started it’s no longer accessed) and when updating/adding Docker images. Am I wrong? I have not noticed any random disk spinning up having it on the array VS the cache.

Plex Spinning up disk but not accessing anything
Yes, same here, browsing does not spin up the disk, only when starting media and this “bug” does. Here. Nope, just media files, cover art is embedded into the media files, subtitles and the like as well. No “Optimized Versions” of media either, though if I were to have such I would have them in there own share. I have been burned in the past by the likes of Plex and Jellyfin corrupting or deleting media files in the past, so my media share is read only. I do suspect this is a plex bug. I have done a random experiment in the past where when I got up I just power cut the Apple TV without waking it and it did not spin up the disk on the NAS on wake. e3l1-unraid-diagnostics-20250614-1710.zip

Plex Spinning up disk but not accessing anything
Hello! I have a slightly annoying issue. Before I go into the issue let me explain what I do that seems to cause the issue. One of the things I use Plex for is “watching” media while going to sleep. That way it can play long without using any internet. Plex eventually will time out the playback basically asking if your still watching by not autoplaying the next episode. Once this happens my Apple TV will then eventually go to sleep on it’s own. Whenever it is next that I turn on the Apple TV Plex will still be open but on the Plex home menu just as if you have just opened the app. At this exact moment the disk on the NAS that holds the last media file played will spin up, but nothing is actually accessed (File Activity and Active stream shows no activity) even if you don’t interact with the plex app at all and close it to do something else that disk still got spun up for no reason that I can tell… So the issue that may be entirely a Plex issue is that when waking the Apple TV to the plex app a disk on the NAS gets randomly spin up. Whats also interesting is that browsing media does not in any way spin up disks, only when media begins playback and this issue do any disks spin up. (Well and scanning media, that I have set to manual) The only thing I can think of is that Plex for a split second when it starts back up on the Apple TV thinks it’s trying to play the last media it played, but before the disk actually finishes spinning up Plex decides it isn’t so nothing is read… Any ideas on what could be done? This is one of the times I really do wish that Unraid had a legitimate READ cache. (As in another copy, not a move, of the data is stored somewhere else like an SSD or a RAM disk) I do know of that one plugin the moves the video file to the cache while plex has it open, but I don’t know if this would even work for my issue, nor do I want it to be a move, just a copy, AKA READ Cache… Also it should be noted that Plex only has read only access to my media storage. And all other files related to Plex are on my redundant SSD cache. I entirely understand that this is probably a Plex issue not an Unraid one.

Passing an AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX's "Raphael" IGPU to a VM
Well still waiting on some guidance here…

Passing an AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX's "Raphael" IGPU to a VM
It’s a MINISFORUM BD790i, perhaps, but shouldn’t I still be getting basic video out? VGA 2D mode?

Passing an AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX's "Raphael" IGPU to a VM
Hello! I have been trying to pass the Raphael IGPU on my 7945HX CPU (only GPU) to a VM so that I can use the NAS as a TV box as well. Ideally I would like to run Steam OS in the end, From what I have read the IGPU should be supported by Steam OS but I digress. At the moment I'm just trying to get it to work with any OS... I have assigned the IGPU to the VM, and when the VM is started the HDMI out does black from the normal Unraid Terminal. But the VM never shows video... If I assign a second VNC GPU and boot Manjaro it can see the IGPU, but it only sees it as an unknown ATI device... So it would appear that it is being passed but does not work? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

File Transfer results in Error 0x8007003B
In this case it should not be an issue. I have VHD I would like to move to the NAS that are 512GB in size (deceased relatives system archives), and the array has 16TB drives that are basically empty... Even not setting this setting the error still occurs. If the array is involved the error can occur even if the array is a secondary location. If I make a share that is just on my cache I can copy over even the 512GB VHDs with ease, then change the share to have the array as a secondary and invoke the mover and it works. But if the array is involved with the share AT ALL there is a change of it throwing this error when SMB copying... There is something very odd happening with SMB and the way the array works.

File Transfer results in Error 0x8007003B
It's very large set. 513GB. a 64GB VHD should not be a problem.

File Transfer results in Error 0x8007003B
You have it backwards. Using the cache is perfect, never has issues. its just if the array is involved at all the SMB error happens.

File Transfer results in Error 0x8007003B
I am also having this issue completely at random. Does not matter the size of the file but is worse with larger files. I have been trying to copy this 64GB VHD for like a week and it just does not work... I have tried everything I can think of and also know its not a client side/windows issue as the other two NAS machines on my network (sysnology and TrueNAS) do not have this issue. I have noticed that yes if your messing around withing the Unraid UI it will cause ANY SMB traffic to fail but this can be expected especially if your changing shares or users. What is also interesting is if I retry at the end every file that threw the error the transfer at the end will think the file already exists and asks if you want to overwrite. I have also noticed that the error is only thrown when the array is interacted with. If the share has any interaction with the array (this includes if the array is secondary) the error can occur. But if the share is only in a cache no error.

Dynamix - V6 Plugins
Hello! I am new to Unraid and am trying to get some way to have more control over cooling. I have installed Autofan but it does not seem to be running anywhere?? I see a new item in the settings for it and have tried enabling it but nothing anywhere else seems to exist. What am I missing? I may also be in the club of my MB does not have any controllable fan controllers (MINISFORUM BD790i MB) could that be why?

QNAP QDA-A2AR work?
Ya, But it's RAID that in supposedly invisible to the hosting device (Unless you have there Windows software installed or it's a QNAP NAS) you set the RAID via DIP switches

QNAP QDA-A2AR work?
Hello! I have a New 5 Bay NAS I'm building and 4 2.5" drives from salvaged laptop of the past. 2x 2TB, 2x 1TB I would like to use these drives in my new NAS. I would like to know if the QNAP QDA-A2AR 2x2.5 to 1x3.5 drive converters/Raid devices will work? and if it would be better to use RAID 0 or JBOD mode on them. The idea being that Unraid will see say the 2x2TB as a single 4TB drive (I will be treating them as one drive anyways) So I guess my question is will the QDA-A2AR function with Unraid? The current plan is to get a couple 8TB drives, one for parity and then use all the 2.5 drives I have lying around to achieve 14TB of usable.

mounting unraid OS into a ssd drive.
No more the idea is if say my house is robbed the likelihood that said crook trying to extract data past the “I can’t get it to boot my unlocked OS media” is very small, they would likely just whip the drives (if that) and sell it or the parts off. And that’s the goal, you can’t have mu data even if you get my hardware. It should also he noted that encryption does not secure data, it makes it non viable to read it in a relevant time frame. Aka by the time you can decrypt it the data is not longer relevent. But I digress.

mounting unraid OS into a ssd drive.
Can you by chance shed some light on this? Posts? any kind of potential timeline other that maybe 2 years? I would also hope there is going to be some way to transfer a USB install to an SSD install? If I know its coming I can deal with it in the short term. Also I seem to also be in the boat where my MB only boots from USB when explicitly told to via boot override. I can't seem to just set it to boot off USB all the time... Probably some security measure for the board or something...

mounting unraid OS into a ssd drive.
You can if you lock the UEFI with a password and have an OS that encrypts via TPM. aka that drive can only be read by that that MB/MB CPU combo in the case of FTPM. on some board the FTPM is also linked to the UEFI so if the CMOS is cleared you lose the TPM key and have to use a encryption recovery password. Yes if the box is stolen the HW is gone but the data would remain safe as long as they don't crack the OS login or use some other exploit like Meltdown back in the day or the like. With that said I'm not saying that USB should be dropped, Just that other options other than USB should be available. Also not saying that the Unraid OS should be encrypted (though it would be nice as an option) but it could still link to TPM just to detect HW change of the MB/MB CPU combo for FTPM.

mounting unraid OS into a ssd drive.
If I understand the reasoning correctly the main reason a USB drive is used is because many have GUID allowing an instance to be locked to a single device. I can understand this as it's a paid software model. However SSD that support GPT (which is most of them) the partitions also have GUID. Now from what I have read this is copyable but I would also argue that if Unraid supported TPM it could see that a major HW change happened and could check some repository to see if any other connected Unraid instance had the same GUID or similar and disavow both instances and shot off an email to that instance owner or something. A NAS not connected to the internet is not that helpful except for things like local SMB or the like which can be done for free and relatively easily with like TrueNAS, OMV, so on. I also actually like the idea of the GPT partition potentially being copyable. Could just make a clone of the drive and if it fails I could just plop it on another drive without having to contact support. But I digress. I know I am pulling at straws here but I really don't like the idea of having an externally mounted boot device that can just be yanked and substituted by someone doing bad things... On that note it would also be nice if Unraid (or really any NAS OS for that matter) supported secure boot... But I digress. If Unraid had SSD install support tomorrow I would get an ultimate license at once... I like the UI, the flexibility, and am even willing to pay a hefty price for it but the relegation to a USB boot device it a major killer for me for multiple reasons... Again sorry if I'm beating the horse so to speak.

mounting unraid OS into a ssd drive.
I would really love to have an ETA on if SSD support for the boot drive will happen if it's happening. My new NAS that I'm building only has 3 USB ports (one USB-C 4 and two USB 3 via internal header) and just do not have room for a always connected USB drive... I already will have to use a small internal adapter for things like a ZWave adapter and for plugging in my UPS... I did not know that Unraid had to be on a USB drive. I was planning to use this ~50GB Intel Optane SSD as a boot drive... I have been messing around with True NAS Scale and I just do not like it...

Another question, do things like AirPods, handoff, iMessage, and Apple Pay work via the VM in Catalina? And if so would I need to pass a WI-FI card to the vm?

Question, would it be possible to have the Mac OS VM have hardware access to the iGPU in a 9900KS?
