  1. I've just upgraded to 6.2 rc2 to get the new cache pool system working (I needed 6.2 due to the device number limits) However after the upgrade, the web ui seems very slow when browsing around the menus (around 5-10 seconds for a page to load) and I keep getting the following errors in the log. Jul 24 19:51:22 Unraid avahi-daemon[23719]: Failed to find user 'avahi'. 2. I'm still running mine after 3 years. I've replaced a few of the fans but left the PSU's in there (its in a cupboard under the stairs so have now got use to the noise). Up to 26Tb in storage in it so far and on Unraid 6 with crashplan, plex, sab, sickbeard and couchpotato all running in docker and then a couple of test Vm's that I run when needed. I did upgrade the ram to 24gb to help support those as well. Only thing I never tracked down is the slow speed of the parity checks but they do completed after 18 hours so haven't worried about it so far.
  3. Sounds like a similar build to mine. I am using a 24 bay rack mount server case with dual Opteron 2212 processors (6 cores @ 1.8ghz each) and 24Gb of ECC ram. Server cost me $200 (and $400 to ship it to the UK), with an additional £50 to add the 2nd processor and increase the ram. With this, I have been able to stream out to 7 devices so far, including 2 surface tablets, 2 mobile phones, a samsung TV, the WD box and a friends pc via the web app. Worked well but was more bottled necked via the cache drive's write speed via the cpu power in the end. I use Plex DNLA Service for streaming out to a projector (an Epson TW-5900 in my case) but went down the WD Tv-live box to act as a simple player. This use to connect direct to my unraid server shares but due to issues scrolling through the large lists of folders, I switched it over to the DNLA stream from Plex. Still waiting on a Plex app for it so wouldn't recommend it at the moment unless you are happy with text only lists. Total space is at 24Tb at the moment, with a 3Tb parity drive, a 2Tb cache drive and a mix of 1tb, 2tb and a single 3tb data drives. The plan will be to upgrade the 1Tb drives up to 3Tb drives as they fail, giving me around 60+Tb of storage in the end. Hope that helps.
  4. Just got home and I can still access the server via the webgui so the downgrade to beta10a does appear to resolve the issue.
  5. Server has 24Gb of memory, all of which is ECC. 5 docker images are installed with no plugins. The docker image is also newly created as of a week ago as I just transferred all the old plugins over to the new docker images. Memory was tested about 2 weeks ago for 36 hours with no issues found. Cheers R
  6. Nope. I've tried IE, Firefox and opera but no joy. I can get access to unmenu which allows me to stop the array but when I do, I can not get access to the server via telnet or ssh and I get kicked off unmenu as well. I have to run shutdown -r now via a local command in order to get access. I've downgrade to beta 10a to see if the same problem exists there.
  7. Is anyone else having issues with emhttp crashing on beta14? I upgraded from beta10a at the weekend after converting all my drives over to xfs but since then, I am unable to access the website after a few hours. Syslog doesn't seem to show anything and the site does come back up after a reboot. syslog.zip
  8. I'll take a look at the beta then but with the amount of data stored, ita difficult to fully back up the media elsewhere.
  9. Recently, my server has been crashed and taking down all websites and user shares, leaving only telnet running although this is also 50/50 if it remains. I end up having to run a shutdown -r now command in order to get the server to reboot. I have been having this issue for a few days now but haave managed to get the syslog tonight on the latest crash. In the log, the server crash is listed at 19:42:27 where java invoked oom-killer and continues to do so until the server is rebooted. Does anyone know how to resolve this as my searches on here are not bringing me any answers. The system : Supermicro h8dme-2 with twin 6 core opteron 2419 processors and 24gb of ram. Drives : 1 x 2tb Parity, 1 x 2tb cache and 20 data drives between 1 and 2tbs. Total space of around 22Tb. Unraid version : 5.0 Final Plugins : Sickbeard, Sab, Plex, Crashplan, APC UPS and Cache Directories (this one is disabled at the moment) Thanks for the help. Syslog is attached. syslog.zip
  10. Getting the issue here on 5.0 i386. I'm running 8Gb of memory with Sab, sickbeard, crashplan and cache_dir plugins. Cheers Ryan
  11. Firstly, apologies for having to post this but I am completed confused on how split levels work and how I am meant to use them (which is highly annoying ) I have 5 shares that I have configured but the data is copying all over the place when I start transferring it. The build is new so no issues if I have to start afresh as all the data is sat on my current desktop. So, my current share setup on my desktop is.... Films | <Film Title> | [Film Files] TV | <Series Title > | <Season> | [Files] Music | <Album> | [Files] Downloads | <Download Title> | [Files] Data | <Documents Folders> | [Files] I would like to use this same setup on unraid and have tried the following config but the files ended up being split up across multiple disks. Films - Split level 1, all disks included. Downloads - Split level 1, All disks included. Music - Split level 2, All disks included. TV - Split level 2, All disks included. Data - Split level 2, All disks included. Anyone have any idea where I went wrong on this? If it helps, I am running Unraid 5.0-Rc5 Pro. Thanks for your help.
  12. as far as I can tell, that is where the noise is from. I going to look up at ordering up a couple of fan mates or PWM mates ( http://www.quietpc.com/products/casefanaccessories/fanmate2 ) to see if I can try and reduce the speed /noise of those fans.
  13. I have the amd version of this server - took 10 days to make it over the pond but made it with just a bent corner. A few hits with a copper hammer and its all fine. Already updated the bios, got the dual 6 core processers installed and got it booted. My unraid key has got stuck in customs so been waiting for that for a while - fingers crossed it will be here in the next couple of weeks. I've unplugged the 60mm fans to see the reduction of noise and while it helped, the two radial fans on each side of the case helped a lot more. Just need to learn the system now and see how to get all the add ons and packages installed.
  14. $253 for me.... still cheaper than getting a different 24 bay case.
  15. I just order two 6 cores from the states and a socket F heatsink. Should be an easy enough install compared to a pc case. Just need to order the internal usb header and key, ready for the install.
  16. Managed to get one through a friend - just need to work out the shipping to the UK when he gets it. Any recommendation on fan replacements? I'm planning for this to go in the loft but also don't want it to be too noisy up there. Also debating if it is worth an additional process or not. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
  17. if only he would ship to the uk.
  18. if you're still looking for the cage - these are in the UK and cheaper then shipping them in. http://www.xcase.co.uk/hotswap-stoarge-kit-p/hddkit-xx-500.htm
  19. I can find a pci card somewhere - think I had one at work from memory. Good point as I hadn't thought of that. I do have raid 5 running on the perc controller but that data is backed up to the two 2tb drives and the nas box so was thinking of moving the raid drives over to the unraid box, then copying the data back over from the nas and 2Tb drives. Once that is done, then installing them into unraid box to bring it up to its full total. Free space on the perc raid is down to 400Gb hence the thoughts of merging the lot together. It will mean I will lose the full backup of dual copies that I have now but unraid means that the loss of the entire array is not so much of an issue as it is currently. Cpu has been overclocked for around 2 years so tempted to leave it as is and use the extra speed. PSU - I have an HX850 in the desktop at the moment so might get another of these as they are decent quality. From looking at the dell Perc 6/i a bit more online, it appears that there is no option to use it in a jbod mode but instead, you have to run raid 0 on each drive in order for the OS to see it. A bit of an issue with that in terms on using it so it would appear that I need a different sata controller as well. Something like this (http://www.scan.co.uk/products/supermicro-aoc-saslp-mv8-8-port-sas-sata-300mb-s-pci-e-controller-card) with 2 of these (http://www.scan.co.uk/products/supermicro-cbl-0097l-02-1-x-36-pin-4i-mini-multilane-sas-(sff-8087)-to-4-x-7-pin-serial-ata) I guess. Thanks for your help.
  20. Hi, I am currently looking at options to provide more space for my media collection and for a better ability to provide 24x7 access to my media. My current setup is : Main PC : 1 x 64Gb SSD, 8 X 1Tb 7200rpm Seagate drives (in raid 5 on a Dell Perc 6/i controller), 2 x 2Tb drives (no Raid) Buffalo TeraStation : 4 x WD 1Tb 7200rpm drives in raid 5. Issues I currently have is that my main machine is a tad full with it backing up data to both the 2 x 2Tb drives and the TeraStation (both required to do a full backup). I also need to leave my machine on when we want to stream media on the network to the xbox or other computers and it is quite power hungry (2600k overclocked to 4.5ghz). My collection of 'spare' parts include the following which I was hoping would be suitable to build an unRaid server out of. Case : Antec 900 or Antec 1200 (used as my main pc but with the reduction in drives, I could move back to the 900) Motherboard : Asus P5Q Pro (http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5Q_PRO/) - Installed in Antec 900 at the moment CPU : E8400 (overclocked to 3.6Ghz) - Installed on P5Q pro at the moment CPU Cooler : Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro RAM : 4Gb GeIL Black Dragon PC2-8500C5 Sata Controller : Dell Perc 6/i with battery. Already has 2 x 4 sata breakout cables. (would not be used to provide any raid functions in this unit) PSU - Nothing available and would need to purchase. USB Drive : Would need to purchase as well as a header. Drive Caddys - Nothing available but am looking at X-Case caddies - http://www.xcase.co.uk/hotswap-stoarge-kit-p/hddkit-xx-500.htm On the hard drive front, I need to be careful in which ones I install first as I need to have at least one copy of the data available to copy over but am thinking on installing 1 of the 2Tb drives as the parity drive and then the 8 x 1Tb drives from my main pc as a starter and once the data has finished copying, moving the 2nd 2Tb drive and the other 4 x 1Tb drives from the TeraStation into the unRaid box . I also need to upgrade my SSD as the 64gb is no longer big enough so could possible use that as a cache drive if its suitable. Its an OCZ Vertex 2 if that helps. My main aims are to use this as a media server and backup area. I do use newsgroups and sickbeard as well but guess this would need to remain on my current machine and let it copy the files over. Hopefully everything is suitable but if you can confirm that, it would put my mind at risk. Thanks for your help.
