I found a better Solution than a hardware upgrade. I checked all cpu usage and drilled down on what actually caused the load. Turned out that the monitoring software had reset the substream to none for all cameras causing the cpu having to do massive decoding work loads. After having set the sub streams of all IP cams correctly and where needed the decode to the Nvidia graphics the cpu load is down to…. 11-12%. So no need at all for a cpu swap. nevertheless. I would be very interested in knowing what ryzen would be quicker in multi thread jobs than the current one.

Hi all, I'm running an unRaid (pro) server in a 4u 19" chassis that is running software to record the video streams from 64 IP cams in a block of flats (large apartment block). It is running a VM with Windows 10 pro (the software "Blue Iris") is working good and stable. When I installed the system years ago the amount of cameras was around 45 and all was really well. The system runs an AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Eight-Core @ 3400 MHz with 64 GB RAM and a NVidea graphics card that is pass-through to the VM as the windows machine is also providing the screen to the security officer (big monitor with 8 rows of 8 cams view). All is recording etc. ok, but the CPU is constantly on 90-95% load (seen in unRaid). The host has 2 cores of the 16 hyperthread cores and the VM the rest. The mainboard in this system is ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. TUF GAMING X570-PLUS. This board was mainly chosen due to the price and the many SATA ports and m2 slot. (m2 for cache). We're running Seagate surveillance hard drives (8TB each, 6 drives) in the array and they have been good so far. Only 1 replace (on warranty) in last 4 years. This all needs to run on a very tight budget. We don't have budget for thread rippers or something. I was wondering if there is any sense in just a CPU upgrade in the AM4 socket. The board supports more, but I'm wondering if there is anything that really will perform better than the current cpu on this board. Any comment and/or advice would be highly appreciated.

Hi, I am running the latest unRaid stable release with a graphics card that has 2 HDMI outputs and 1 displayport. I have 3 TVs connected. The unraid server runs shinobi monitoring (CCTV) and that works great an all, but I'd like to show on the TVs the live-image for the security employee to monitor. I'm doing this at a non-profit organization and therefore looking for a free or as-low-as-possible-cost-solution. I'm currently getting only 1024x768 out of the HDMI port on 1 TV and I'm wondering how to handle this. Is unRAID capable of running multi-monitor? Or should I go for a virtual machine that I assign the graphics-card to? Any help, direction, etc. would be highly appreciated. Thank you!
