The office where I have an Unraid running is being blocked from many apps and plugins due to a self signed certificate. I've actually been able to download plugins via command using this old method but only when using '--no-check-certificate'. Is there a way to configure Unraid to '--no-check-certificate' when installing plugins and apps?

I'm struggling to get an Ubuntu VM to be able to write to a shared directory. I've got the directory configured properly in Shares (Secure) and the user configured to have read/write access, yet when I go to the directory in Ubuntu I can see the contents but not write to the directory. If I access the directory in Windows, however, I can read/write no issue. Does anyone have any idea how to get a SMB shared directory writable in an Ubuntu VM?

Can't install Plugin - SSL verification failure
thunderclap replied to thunderclap's topic in Connect Plugin Support
Good to know, thank you. I know the company blocks a lot of online storage sites (Google Drive, iCloud, Backblaze, etc.) so I'm guessing this site is blocked too. Manual back up it is. Thanks. -
Can't install Plugin - SSL verification failure
thunderclap posted a topic in Connect Plugin Support
I'm trying to install the plugin and am getting an SSL verification error: plugin: installing: dynamix.unraid.net.plg Executing hook script: pre_plugin_checks plugin: downloading: dynamix.unraid.net.plg ... plugin: dynamix.unraid.net.plg download failure: SSL verification failure Executing hook script: post_plugin_checks Other plugins/apps install fine. I've attached the diagnostic report to see if someone more knowledgeable can spot the problem. I think the issue is that this system is used within a single department of a larger company and that something is being blocked by IT, however I would like confirmation. If they are blocking it I'll need to figure out how to backup the flash with another app/plugin or manually. I appreciate any help. Thanks. media-relations-diagnostics-20230503-1211.zip -
I was running a digital asset manager on an Ubuntu 20.04 workstation for several years. I've now set up Unraid for video/photo storage and wanted to run the software in an Ubuntu VM. I exported the MySQL database and moved the files to the VM (still 20.04), installed Apache, PHP and MySQL. Everything went fine, imported the SQL file (again fine) but when I try to run the DAM I keep getting "Sorry, an error has occurred." At first I thought it might be a permission thing but I've set everything properly in the var/www/html folder (I even tested using 777). I then did a clean install and during the initial set up it asks for the MySQL host. I left it set at its default, localhost, and when I try to complete the install the program says an error has ocurred, however it doesn't say what that error is, and there is nothing in the logs so far as I can tell. I then tried running MySQL (and MariaDB) in docker and pointed the installation to use them but it didn't work either. This is the first time I've attempted a VM so I'm curious if I might have something configured wrong. Is there something other than localhost I should be using?

Two are 240GB and one is 500GB. Figure it would just be easier to put in two 1TB.

I currently have three cache drives configured as RAID-0 totaling 1TB. I want to swap those three out for two 1TB drives configured as RAID-1 so there is some redundency. What is the best method of getting all the data off the cache drive(s)? Would simply using Windows Explorer or WinSCP and copying that data to a backup drive temporarily be sufficient?
-
I run an Unraid server at home which I love. It's easy to use and maintain and I really appreciate the piece of mind of redundancy. I am now considering building an Unraid server for my employer, but before I get to what I'm thinking, here's a brief preamble as to why... I work for a government entity where getting anything ordered or approved is a nightmare. Six years ago I was told by my supervisor we needed a some way of tagging photos and for easy searching. Unfortunately, IT refused to help because "it isn't in our contract." So it fell to me to find a solution that satisfied my bosses wishes and, on a selfish level, made my job easier. I settled on ResourceSpace and after some griping from IT, they agreed to allow us to use it as long as we purchased a department server and maintained it ourselves. Not a big deal to me, since I've been building systems for 30 years. But we had to use the server they selected, a Dell Precision because it had a Raid controller for mirroring. Once we got it I promptly installed Ubuntu and got our digital asset manager up and running. Within a few years I expanded it with a couple external drives for video/photo editing, which is my primary responsibility. The reason for this was because there are two of us editors, and two machines, and we were tired of having projects on two different machines, especially if there was a rush and we needed access to a project the other was working on. This set up worked fine for us... until now. We suffered a major hard drive crash last week and the main drive no longer boots or is accessible. No problem, I thought, and pulled the drive out and moved the mirror drive. Turns out it had stopped mirroring the main drive in March 2022, so a lot of photos and b-roll is missing. Slightly panicked, I figured this was bad but not terrible because we have cloud backup. Turns out that IT decided to block all cloud storage access even though we'd been authorized for it, and none of our data had been backed up since May 2022. At this point I felt like I was a part of a disaster: fail safes in place and each one failed. Which is where I am now. Since I've had such good success with Unraid for a personal server, I thought it might be a good option for work. Here is what I'm thinking; please let me know if any of this is a really bad idea. Please keep in mind I've gotten approval from my boss to build a system myself and go around IT. Build a system with Intel Core i-9 12900k, 32GB RAM, 2 4TB SSD for cache, 8TB parity, and an array made up of an 8TB drive and 2 4TB drives. (Drives are a combo of new drives purchased to get the old system up and running and drives purchased for video editing last year.) Since there is no ResourceSpace docker I will create an Ubuntu VM and install it there. Shares will be created in Unraid for photos and b-roll which I will share with the VM and that's where anything added to ResourceSpace will go. The cache drives will be configured for RAID-1 and be used primarily for our current editing projects. Once completed, they will be offloaded to the array. I know I've seen some comments regarding using Unraid storage as an editing drive, but the tests I've run on my personal Unraid system seem to work fine, so I don't think there should be any major issues. I hope I'm not forgetting anything and it all makes sense. Is there anything I'm forgetting or not considering? Are there any issues that might cause a problem I'm not thinking of?

We have an Ubuntu server running the digital asset management software ResourceSpace. It's been working fine over the years but the main drive failed and apparently the RAID-1 mirror drive stopped mirroring over a year ago, so a ton of data was lost over the last 4 months. Long story short, the companies IT department I work for is... difficult. We have a static IP assigned to the the machine, but if I create an Ubuntu VM for ResourceSpace it wants to create its own IP which IT will have an issue with. Is there a way to create a VM that retains the same IP as the main Unraid machine but can be accessed with a port number instead? Unfortunately ResourceSpace doesn't have an Unraid friendly container otherwise I'd consider doing it in docker. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I'm not sure, and I don't even know where to find the files. I did a search but can't find them. UPDATE: Okay, found it. It's in /mnt/cache/appdata. It looks like it's the Unraid syslog file. UPDATE 2: It looks like under Settings the syslog server was set to the appdata folder. I changed it to the log folder. Hopefully that will fix the issue.

Every time I run a backup with v3 of the plugin I get two errors: CA Backup/Restore: tar verify failed! and CA Backup/Restore: A error occurred somewhere. Not deleting old backup sets of appdata But there is no other information on what that "error occurred" is. Any ideas on how to correct this issue?

LSI SAS 9207-8i Problem

LSI SAS 9207-8i Problem
thunderclap replied to thunderclap's topic in Storage Devices and Controllers
I'm an idiot. It was a cable issue. I'd checked all the SATA cables going into the drives but not the SAS cable in the LSI card itself. I must not have pushed it in all the way and it had come loose. Two days troubleshooting over a loose cable. Thanks for the help. -
LSI SAS 9207-8i Problem
thunderclap replied to thunderclap's topic in Storage Devices and Controllers
I re-installed the LSI and got new diagnostics. Thanks you. buhmonte-server-diagnostics-20230131-1058.zip -
I just picked up this card (https://www.ebay.com/itm/284754322881) and it looks like it's been flashed in IT Mode. I installed it in my Unraid box, fired up the system, and everything worked. For two days. Suddenly today, the drives connected to the controller card were no longer recognized. During my troubleshooting, I did see the device under System Devices so it seems to be recognized by Unraid, yet the drives aren't registering. Any idea why it worked for a few days and then stopped? I've attached the Diagnostic file, but I'm not sure it will be shown as I pulled the card and replaced it with the Marvell PCIe one I was using to get the system back up temporarily. buhmonte-server-diagnostics-20230130-1913.zip

I currently use a basic PCIe SATA card (Marvell chipset) for some additional drives in my system. I've purchased an LSI SAS 9207-8i and am waiting for it to arrive. My question is pretty basic: when I swap the SATA card with the LSI card will I need to manually assign the drives to the correct Disk assignment, or will the system automatically do all this and boot without any additional work?

Since I've rebooted Unraid and almost done rebuilding, I assume the log I need is no longer available?
-
This is the first time I've experienced this issue. Unraid reported Disk 1 had errors and was taken offline. I rebooted the system to see if that would fix the problem and the drive ended up in Historical Devices. When I re-assigned it to Disk 1, Unraid is now doing a data rebuild when I thought the drive would just come back up. Did I do something wrong, or is this how Unraid does this sort of thing? Is there any way of finding out what happened to the drive exactly?
-
Thanks for that. I sort of figured it out. The extra parameter is --net=container:binhex-delugevpn and needed to set the Emby docker to network type None. I also needed to add Emby's port number to the DelugeVPN docker. That gets Emby and running, but I can't verify if it's using VPN or not. I can access the docker via its domain but not by its IP:port. I also can't access the Emby docker console to do an ifconfig check. UPDATE: I searched "VPN_INPUT_PORTS" and found someone recently commented on SpaceInvader One's video about doing this. I originally followed the video and added a new Port to Deluge with Emby's port number. That's what got it sort of working, but the newest comment said: "To add the other container's ports to delugevpn you must: "Edit 'VPN_INPUT_PORTS' env var and put applications Web UI port number in the 'value', if multiple ports required then use a comma to separate". So I tried that and Emby becomes inaccessible again.
-
Well unfortunately this isn't working. I've tried all the ports the binhex docker uses and all result in a command failure. I also tried without the port and it still fails.
-
So you're saying I would just add under Extra Perimeters something like "--network binhex-delugevpn" since that's the docker that I have VPN configured?
-
I know with several other dockers (e.g. Sonarr, Radarr, etc.) you can for them to use a VPN docker, in my case the Deluge docker with VPN. Is it possible to do the same thing with Emby?

Marvell PCI SATA Card Question
thunderclap replied to thunderclap's topic in Storage Devices and Controllers
PCIe, sorry.
