Edit* Nzbget won't load after reinstalling but sabnzbd is working fine anyway so I'm going to stick with that.

I dont know how but after a few goes of changing the network settings on the flash network config it finally worked. I dont know how I may have just mistyped the first 6 or so times when I was doing it...not sure? All good now though I have it up and running. Thanks for the assistance.

No I can't see it I've tried IP address, //tower, looking for tower in the windows network file explorer, tried looking for something familiar in the router setup. Is there anything else that needs to be done when moving networks besides changing the IP address. I tried getting an auto DHCP address but im not sure if it worked.

I think this should be pretty basic but I moved house and have a new router. I'm unable to find my unraid tower on the network. I've tried changing the IP address and gateway in the network configuration and also tried using DHCP but it doesn't seem to work. Am I missing something really obvious?

Just wondering, I've had a broken " Straight Outta Compton " Movie file in my incomplete downloads folder for a very long time on my unraid 6 server. It won't let me delete these files. There apparently 88 nameless items of about 50 MB each. I get the " The file name is not valid or too long. Specify a different file name. " Trying to rename it gives me the " This action cannot be complete because the file is open in another program " Not really sure how to get rid of it.

Yeah the workgroup was fine. I don't know sometimes it randomly works and sometimes it doesn't. I found if i go into the files on another pc then try my main one it will work. Also I dragged "Network" shortcut to desktop and it works every time. weird.

started getting this error out of nowhere when i try to access my unraid server though my windows PC. Not sure if it has something to do with upgrading form windows 7 to 10. Is there something basic I've done and haven't realised?

my unraid server is a gen 8 hp microserver. it has 2 lan ports and it was in number 2. I put it into lan 1 port and reset it and its fine now. Dont know if that was the issue but all good now.

Just wired my house in cat 6. Have a little rack set up with a patch panel and switch. Relocated my unraid server to the shelf in the laundry where this gear is. The server still shows the same IP address as before i moved it because i set it as static, 192.168.0.12 When i type in ipconfig eth0 it still shows as same address. when i type this in on the network on my pc it wont find it. Everything is connected fine, everything works etc. Not sure why this is happening. I haven't changed any setting since i moved it so im a bit unsure.

Yeah I was having trouble with the plugin installer so i tried to move the plugin file to the flash so i could just link it, then realised i'm having issues with write permission when trying to make new files ont he flash as it tries to install plugins. Im having no problems writing to the flash when it's in my windows PC, it's only when it's running unRAID, so i'm confident it's an issue with permission. I ran a chkdsk and it said it is fine. edit* ok found the problem, when I was googling a fix earlier today someone had a similar problem. When they entered a DNS server manually it was fixed. Same for me. I was just having trouble trying to keep the manually selected DNS server as it kept reverting back to auto select. I had to go to the network config and enter my own settings ( NOT DCHP ) and the manual DNS settings stayed

Hi, So i just setup an new unRIAD 6 server, everythings fine, except it seems I can't get write permission on the flash OS drive. If I want to put something on the flash ( ie plugins ) I have to turn off the unraid server and put the flash into my windows PC and transfer that way. Is there a way to get write permission on flash. I don't have any users, just standard " root ".

After starting that " new permissions " thing in the "tools" section it says this when I try to install a plugin. mkdir: cannot create directory '/boot/config/plugins/Sabnzbd': Read-only file system /boot/config/plugins/Sabnzbd/Sabnzbd-PhAzE-Control-1.1.tar.gz: No such file or directory ...Unable to download missing plugin control files. Aborting install plugin: run failed: /bin/bash retval: 1 so I'm pretty sure I need to figure out how to get write permission on my flash? ***OK so now that i figured out how to keep manually selected DNS server settings the problem is fixed and the plugins are installed.***

Quick question, when trying to install plugins i get this error: Warning: simplexml_load_file(): ^ in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix.plugin.manager/scripts/plugin on line 193 plugin: xml parse error Google search says that it may be because i havent manually set DNS server. However when I try to turn it from auto, to manual, and type in the manual dns addresses, once i hit apply it just reverts back to "obtain automatically", with the old dns address. Also, I'm trying to figure out how to get write permission on the flash but not having much luck, was going to try link the plugins from the plugin folder on the flash, as the flash is the only files i can link in the plugin install app ( besides linking URL addresses )

Just wondering if it matters which BIOS update i choose for the HP gen8 microserver before i start installing unraid 6. There's options for windows versions, linux versions etc. thanks.

I wonder if its the USB that the unraid flash plugs into, I'm sure that'd cause problems.

Just wondering, I came home to find the unraid server offline. When i tried to restart it i had the same rbeooting loop problem. It said something about " HC died " in the startup logs. I have a feeling the flash drive is dying. Another reason is that it hangs a bit on finding the Primary slave and the rest of the disks. I'm doing a memtest now to rule that out. Does anyone know what " HC died " means?

So I started a new install of unraid 6 using a couple of new 4 and 5 tb drives. I have an existing 2 tb drive from my unraid 5 server. The new drives formatted to xfs, the old one is still reiserfs. Will this matter? I've tried to reformat it to xfs but it hasn't worked. First it tells me to stop the array to reformat, but when I do the option isn't available. I've clicked on the drive and changed filetype to xfs but it swaps back to auto and stays as reiserfs. Obviously this isn't a major problem, I'd just like to know how to do it, thanks.

All good now, it was my fault. I used an existing flash guid that was linked to an existing reg key. Tom helped me out to resolve it so thankyou for that.

I pulled the power plug out and put it back in to do a hard reset, and it's working now. I just got to figure out how to get the new unraid 6 to format the new drives

OK, After moving house i tried to start my unraid server but it keeps going through a rebooting loop. After it loads the unRAID OS and goes through all the logs and white matrix style writing ( im obviously not super technically minded, but i know enough to have this thing working for the last 2 - 3 years ) it will reboot before it gets to the part where you type in the username ie: root I thought fk it and installed unraid 6 to the usb as i figured I start a whole new fresh install and it's doing the same thing. It did work about twice out of about 30 boot attempts. In between I've swapped out some 2TB drives for a couple of 5tb and 4tb drives. I have a feeling my HP N36L microserver may have shat itself, or i need to update the bios or something. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

as of this morning it's just randomly become visible again on the network. interesting...

righto, what does master browser function do? is anything going to happen to my network if its turned on, on my router, and then i disable it. I've never had to do this kind of stuff before, as it happened before, and i've been using the unraid server fine for almost 2 years.
