Options for moving huge amounts of data internally

Featured Replies

I have an ongoing server upgrade.

I have a lots of old 4Tb hdd's full of stuff that I need to move to my new server (v6.8.3). I got new 12Tb drives in the new server.

Now it seems that even without parity not assigned yet I get slow write speeds. Like 70-80Mb. I have my old hdd connected with sata and they have 5900RPM. Is this most I can get?

There is so much files to move, is there an app like MC that I could use to move files internally without the need of having PC on? The move/copy commands I could use, but they don't show the status of the moving/copying. Is there an app that could do this internally with statistics?

Sounds like its connected to a usb2 port, if the drive supports usb3 try and connect it to a usb3 port for better speeds.

MC needs to have interface open during the copying/moving of files. I would need an app that would run in the background.

Screen command, available in nerdpack.

As was mentioned you can run any CLI app under Screen to avoid needing to keep a session open and let it continue running in the background.
