disteele1962
I've decided to upgrade my mobo, cpu and RAM. The array and cache drives are fairly new and formatted to xfs and btrfs respectively. I'm running version 6.8.3. My main concern is whether or not I'll loose the data when I install the hard drives? I don't have a backup of my 7.5TB of data, only a parity drive. Is there a safe way to fire up the server without putting the data at risk? Quote Link to comment
sdamaged
As long as the drives are installed back to the same location, the CPU, RAM and board make no difference. Data won't be affected Quote Link to comment
ChatNoir
Unraid assigns the drives with their serial number so there should not be any issue. At most, some VM passthrough could be impacted. If you want to be sure that everything is OK, you should: deactivate the Array auto start backup your boot drive maybe take a screenshot of your drive assignement (Array + Cache) After the upgrade, check that the drives are in the appropriate position before starting the Array. The most important thing is to be sure that no data drive is allocated as Parity. Quote Link to comment
