artagnan
Hi! I'll buy the Asus P5B-VM DO and pretend to use 2 x Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8, but another forum member has told me that Prior reports are that you cannot run SASLP in the x4 slot, so dual SASLPs may not be possible (You can put an Adaptec 1430SA, but it has only 4 Sata ports, and I need 8 without using PCI cards; they are slower than PCI-E ones) Someone has tried it? Is it possible to put a Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 in the Asus P5B-VM DO PCI-E x4 slot? Rahajal has told me that certain older motherboards will only accept video cards in their PCIe x16 slots. Generally you can go into the BIOS and disable any 'PEG' modes and they will work, but not always. I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance. Link to comment
SSD
I can find the thread where this issue was discussed and post link later. I run a P5B VM DO with a SASLP in the x16 slot, a 1430sa in the x4 slot, a 2 port PCI card (for 1 disk and 1 dedicated preclear slot), and 8 MB ports = 22 ports. Link to comment

Kaygee
Setting the Internal Graphics Adapter setting in the bios to IGD (default is PEG/PCI) might work but to be honest go with Supermicro C2SEE which does work if you feel you must have a 24 sata port system. Link to comment
artagnan
Thanks, Keygee. Rajahal told me the same. When I have the Supermicro I'll give it a try. The C2SEE is a good choice, but much more expensive and hard to find here in Europe. Link to comment
