New Unraid user with issues logging into Unraid 5.06

Long story shortened, have a Unraid plus license from approx 2011 at that time I downloaded and installed Unraid onto a usb stick booted into Unraid and I think registered the usb. At that time I was running WHS, then went to WHS 2011 now want to move to Unraid, so I'm booting off the usb and want to upgrade to the latest stable version of Unraid before configuring. I cannot for whatever reason telnet into http://tower or find it in my router, I've tried all unknown ip addresses to no avail.

BTW I have a monitor, keyboard and mouse hooked up to this computer as well so I can see the Uraid system loading to Towerlogin :  I typed in root which gives me Tower login: root Linux 2.6.36.2-unRAID. Stumped as to what to do next I did some searching and found that you could type MC which gets me to some interface that I have no idea to use. Any help for this Unraid/Linux newbie would be much appreciated.

I recommend backing up all the files on the USB stick to a desktop, then run the USB creator tool and install the latest version. Find the plus.key file in your backup and copy it to the config folder on the newly prepared USB, then boot up and see what you get.

Ok, thanks for the response. How can I  backup the  USB stick  if I'm  not able to telnet into Unraid? Can I  do this on a Windows 10 computer?

Yes, plug the USB stick into your desktop.

Alright, thanks Jonathan. So I copied all the contents to my computer but I cannot find a plus.key file? I guess this means that I have never registered or entered a key?

If you had a very old version of Unraid on the USB drive (which sounds likely from your description) then the license file will be in the top level of the flash drive rather than in the config folder.   Also look for any file ending in ".key" in the top level.

if all that fails and you haven’t got license files saved elsewhere (like on the original email which it was sent to you) then you will need to contact [email protected] with as much details as possible so support can find your license in their records and they can arrange to send a replacement.

This has been solved, apparently since my Plus key was purchased in 2011! I have never registered the flash drive. I have now installed 6.8.3 (registered) onto the existing usb drive with the same GUID and am in the process of setting up my array. I'm sure I will require help to work my way through setting up Plex, Sabnzbd etc I will have more questions but will first use the search function on the forum. Thanks

None of these are available as plugins anymore. Those and literally hundreds of additional apps are available as dockers now.

The first plugin you should install is Community Applications, then use CA to install any other plugins or dockers you want.
