February 2, 201115 yr Goal: 22 drive capacity. Will be using an i3 550 chipset. Usage: Strictly storage for media Narrowed it to these 2: MSI H55M-ED55 http://us.msi.com/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=170&prod_no=1943 Pros: Less expensive Cons: Single LAN port and not Intel, no direct internal mobo USB port (requires adapter) Supermicro C7SIM-Q http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Core/Q57/C7SIM-Q.cfm Pros: Server grade, dual Intel LAN ports Cons: More expensive (approx. $70) Things to consider: Build Quality / Reliability and lastly - Do the dual LANs even offer an advantage in an unRAID setup? I can't seem to find a definative answer. Thanks for the feedback
February 2, 201115 yr If you are considering Supermicro - check out X8SIL-F: Has IPMI !! and is cheaper than C7SIM-Q. regarding the dual ethernet - maybe in the future: http://download.lime-technology.com/develop/infusions/aw_todo/task.php?id=25
February 3, 201115 yr If money is not an issue I would also go for the X8SIL-F. I love IPMI, I have been running headless since I got it. You will need to go into bios and disable one of the lan ports until Tom integrates duel lan into unraid. If money is an issue the MSI board is a good choice.
