February 2, 201115 yr Hey guys, I was wondering if there is any VPN software that can be run on the unraid box to allow my iphone/ipad/laptop VPN assess to my home network. I thought it would be nice for secure browsing when in public and to allow access to the web interfaces on the unraid box. I was looking at http://openvpn.net/ and http://www.astaro.com/en-us/resources/free-astaro-trial but thought I would check and see if anyone here has something setup. I would love to hear what the pros here think. I keep finding more and more great uses for this unraid box.

Two parts of the infrastructure that are not part of unRAID too. unRaid is basically insecure...VPN run by unRAID is not increasing that security. If you are into DIY, I'd look into employing a broadband/Wireless router for this purpose. At best one that would support an open firmware, like DD-WRT Buffalo models from that link are fine for this and basic models are really cheap. I am running several WHR-HP-G54 models on my premises. They make a good start.

I have the ports forwarded from my border router to the DD-WRT device and it works just fine.
