Cannot Add/Remove while Preclearing

I noticed last time that while I was preclearing my drive with the preclear script, I could not delete files on an existing share or add new files.  When I attempted to add or delete something, Teracopy would just hang for a while then give an error.  I was able to stream to my xbmc boxes and computer though.  Is this normal?  My friend said he experiences the same thing while preclearing.
