Cannot download torrents to array

Featured Replies

This is my first Unraid build. I'm still in the trial and I'd like to figure this out before committing to it.

I have an Ubuntu (20.04) VM running on a separate ESXi machine. I'm using Deluge (2.0.3) and I'd like to set the download folder to an SMB share on the array. Whenever I start the torrent, it will error out with "Operation not supported" Sometimes the error shows immediately after starting the torrent, sometimes it takes a minute.

  • I can copy to and from the share manually.
  • I've tried SMB and NFS for the share.
  • I've tried the Ubuntu 20.04 and Fedora 33.
  • I've tried setting the share to cache only or array only.
  • I've tried this with and without a vpn.
  • I've tried another bittorrent client (qbittorrent).

A Windows VM running Deluge seems to work fine.

The only thing that works on these Linux VMs is downloading to local disk, then setting Deluge to move it after the download is complete. This may work for me, but I'd like to figure out what is going on.

What should I look into next?

Why not run deluge docker on Unraid?

Does it work if you

@trurl Thank you for the suggestion, I will try that.

And I'm not using docker because I already have a full vmware environment and most of my workflow is setup around that.

I can reproduce it while saving to a freenas smb share, so it must be something with the linux clients.
