January 4, 20215 yr Hello, I am having some trouble with accessing my shares via SMB and am hoping somebody can help me figure it out. Whenever I go to my shares, I can get into the root of each of them, but as soon as I try to enter any of the folders within the root, it tells me the location is not available. It does that in all of my shares except for my movie share. In that share, it allows me to get into my general "movie" folder and my "4k_movies" folder, but as soon as I try to get another layer deep it gives me the same error as the others. Also, I am unable to playback any of the files I do have access to. When I try to play a movie file, it gives me the following error within VLC. I can access all of my shares and files via a rootshare I setup using one of spaceinvader's tutorial videos. I can browse every folder I have tried, playback media, copy files to my windows PC. Initially, until 10 minutes ago I was not able to write anything via the rootshare, but somehow that issue has been fixed. Not entirely sure how, but at least I have write access via the rootshare now. Things I have done to try and resolve the issue: 1) I have attempted using public security settings on the shares and still encounter the same issue 2) I have enabled unsecure connections within my windows settings on my PC 3) I have enabled SMB 1.0 (or at least, I believe that is what I did. I apologize, but its been a multi day issue and I dont remember everything I have tried) 4) I have reset my user permissions via the new permissions tool on all shares 5) I have tried disconnecting from and reconnecting to the share via my windows PC 6) I have tried deleting my user account and creating a new account in the unraid gui 7) HalianElf in the discord was trying to help me figure out the issue and had me list the contents of one of the directories that results in the disk location not available error with the following results. This was done via the terminal within unraid after I had performed the new permissions tool operation on all shares. My SMB settings are as follows: My User settings are as follows: Like I said, now it is allowing me to write to the rootshare where it wouldn't before, but it would still be nice to figure out where the issue is and correct it so that I can access the individual shares. Thank you for any help you are able to provide and if I can do anything to make it easier to figure out where the issue resides please just let me know.
January 17, 20251 yr I am running into this issue now. Sorry to bring this back but were you ever able to resolve it? I've tried all the things that you've tried and still the files cannot be "available" on my Windows system.
