Drive model is not getting recognized

Featured Replies

I am helping for a friend to setup his unraid and I am facing with an issue I've never seen before.

On unRAID main page (not the main page of unmenu) the drive model is not getting recognized for one of the drive, although it is the same type of drive than all the others and is also on the same controller.

I attached a screenshot which is showing the issue.

I've checked it with hdparm and it is showing the drive modell correctly. The firmware version is also the same as the other drives.

Do you have any idea what this can be?

Thanks in advance.

Post a syslog, what version of unRAID you are running, what hardware specs the computer is, and if you are running any addons.

Thanks, here is the syslog. unRAID 4.6.

MB is an ASUS P5B-VM DO with its own sata controllers.

Update the BIOS on the motherboard to the latest one to see if this is going away.

This drive is not on the same controller as you claim (you have six on the regular motherboard cntrl, one on additional SIL add-on card) and the one in question is alone on the JMicron® JMB363 controller (shared with the eSATA).

If everything else check out OK this is minor annoyance that you will have to live with.

On your place in the current configuration I will swap the 2TB drive on the SIL card with the 1TB Samsung and make sure the cables are secure and locked. And you can buy one eSATA to SATA cable and use this one for your next drive before adding anything to the PCI card and slowing down your parity checks.
