unRAID Reports unclean Shutdown after Clean Shutdown

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've shutdown my unraid server using the gui.

It shutdown normally or it seems like it.

It couldn't boot up correctly after that.

I got it to boot but no networking was found.

I could shutdown using the console (IPMI)

after 3 or 4 reboots I finally got into the gui but got the message that the parity should be checked.

Diagnotics attashed but I can't seem to find why.

Thx in advance.

Unfortunately that does not guarantee that you got a clean shutdown :(

If you want to make sure you get a clean shutdown then you need to successfully stop the array before using the Shutdown option.

Then how can you prevent an unclean shutdown when ups is running low of battery

Figure out what process is hanging up the normal stop sequence and fix it.

Also, you should never get even close to running out of battery, it should be configured to be fully shut down well before the battery reaches 50%.

But the server didn't hanged. It shut down cleanly.

So when ups is shutting down unraid it does a shutdown just like the gui.

but if you need to stop the array first how does the ups software does it?

When doing a shutdown then if the dockers, VMs and the array do not stop within the timeout periods allowed then a forced close of the array is done thus leading to an unclean shutdown.   The timeouts have default values suitable for most common setups but may not be sufficient for your system and need increasing.

You will need to do manual tests first to see if you can successfully stop the array when NOT doing a shutdown.   If not you need to work out what is not stopping cleanly and fix that.
