ATHEROS L1E

Featured Replies

Forgive my ignorance. I compete newbie when it comes to Linux.

How do i make build-in PCIe Gigabit LAN (motherboard: Asus P5KPL-CM)

work in unraid, it is a ATHEROS L1E chipset.

Currently I'm using PCIe Intel addon card.

Atheros is not supported in 4.7. It might be in 5.0b3. But 5.0b4 is due out any time so you should wait for that.

Thanks.

I hope it will. I'll wait.

It is not that it is not supported, It is that the driver typically does not work very well.

The slackware base system that unRAID runs on was updated in 5.0b3 and there may be new drivers in there that will help with the problem.  I DO NOT suggest updating to 5.0b3 and just use the card you have in there now.

Once 5.0b4 is out and has been tested with no major bugs found you can then update, if you like.

The config for the unRAID 5.0b3 kernel includes ATL1, ATL1E and ATL1C drivers compiled as modules.

However, as prostuff1 pointed out, historically the Atheros drivers have not worked very well at all. So once unRAID 5.0b4 is released and has been tested by others and having no major bugs found, then if you feel inclined you could try updating if you like.
