No Network connection

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am having a problem with my network connection to my unraid server. The local Gui shows no network activity, I can not access the server over the network and when entering "ifconfig eth0" in the terminal i get the following error: "error fetching interface information device not found".

I have set up my first Unraid server about half a year ago and for the last 170 Days it worked flawlessly. The reason I had to reboot the server was that I added an additional hard drive to the system.

The problem with not getting a network connection occured during the initial setup of the system already but it "solved" itself back then, i dont know how but it did.

Now it doesnt solve itself and I need the server to be back up and running which is why I am hoping that somebody can help me out here!

I have attached the diagnostics zip files. there are two because i made one today after rebooting the sysem multiple times and then found the second one which is from yesterday, i dont knwo whether this was created automatically but i wanted to add it if there is additional information that might help!

Thank you so very much for your help!

No NIC is being detected in the second diags, make sure it's enable in the board BIOS, if it is try an ad-don NIC.

Thank you for your reply!

I have checked the BIOS but it seems that there is no option to enable or disable it (the board is an Asrock X570 Pro4). I have just made an Bios update but this did not help...

Do you mean that i have to buy an extra network card with "addon nic"?

Whats so strange to me is that it worked before so the parts have to be compatible... its very strange!

Any help is very much appreciated!

Yes, in the first diags the NIC is there, it's completely missing on the second ones, like if it's disable or doesn't exist.

Hmm I really just turned off the server, added a hard drive by plugging in an additional sata cable (and power cable) and then turned it on again...

is it possible to disable the NIC within unraid or only within the Bios?
I was using the onboard lan port on my motherboard all the time...

This is a hardware issue, you can try a CMOS reset and/or BIOS update, if that doesn't help you'd need to replace the board or use an add-on NIC.

Okay, I will try the CMOS reset! I have done the bios update already it did not help...

If it does not help I will try to replace the board as it should still have warranty...

thanks so much for the help!
