January 10, 20215 yr Maybe a silly question, but I am very new to unraid and I don't know anything. I would like to be able to access my unraid management page (the one you see when the machine starts up) from a different PC on my network. The Nas is in another room and to check things out I have to get up and go into that room and physically access it. I thought I could do something like 192.168.1.XX and it would be right there. But when I try I just get errors loading the page. Do I need to configure something or what? Can someone hold my hand here? I mean it when I say I don't know anything.
January 10, 20215 yr Community Expert On the Console GUI, go to Settings >>>> Network Settings Then look at the 'ipv4 address assignment'. Enter this address as //{ip_address} example: //192.168.1.242 on the Internet browser of your choice on the PC. If you get an error, make a screenshot of the error and post it up in a new post.
January 10, 20215 yr Author You're a very helpful person and I thank you. That worked. Much appreciated. *EDIT* Sort of related question? When I get to the main login page the url changes to a whole lot of letters and numbers dot unraid dot net. Is there a way to change that to a more readable name, so maybe I can do //myunraidserver.unraid.net? I mean, 192.168. etc etc isn't hard to remember. I'm just curious. Edited January 10, 20215 yr by Hydranmenace Additional related question.

No, it is a part of getting your SSL certificate for secure access between your PC browser and your server. you can read a more about it starting here: https://unraid.net/blog/unraid-sponsorship-of-lets-encrypt I have found that if you setup a Bookmark with the IP address (that you found earlier) it will automatically redirect to that changed URL. Everything (there are some gotcha's that can occur with routers have greater security than the standard consumer router has) can be setup to happen in the background as you have seen. I just checked (using Firefox) and you can created a bookmark using the redirected URL by dragging it off (Point at the 'lock' and left click) onto the Bookmarks toolbar. IF necessary, you can rename the bookmark by 'right-clicking' on it and selecting 'Properties'... Edited January 10, 20215 yr by Frank1940
