Transferring from VM to Share

Featured Replies

So i'm 100% sure this has been addressed here before, but i've looked through some of the forums and can't find my specific behavior.

I've got a VM on unraid where I frequently have some large files sometimes up to 25Gigs. I then transfer the files to an unraid share that uses the cache drive.

When the xfer first starts it will be 250-400mbps easy, then after 10-20 seconds we drop all the way down to 5-10mbps. The behavior has been observed using both SMB on windows and linux VM's as well as via FTP on both VM's as well.

Some additional information in case it helps!

VM stored on unassigned SSD (although ive tried with it stored on the cache drive as well)

Cache drive is 1TB NVME ssd

Any help or suggestions or whatever is greatly appreciated!

Does this happen when transferring a file to that share but without involving a VM?

I'm unsure, I don't have a desktop or hardwired laptop that i use to xfer this amount of data. Those transfers are much smaller and don't take long enough for me to even register if this is an issue over the network.

If you believe it may help with troubleshooting I can try to setup a test to determine if thats the case as well
