No Smart data with netapp NAJ-0801

I have a netapp  NAJ-0801 connected to a r310 using a lsi sas 2308 it does not read smart data or temps from any of the drives I put 1 of the drives in the r310 attached to a lsi sas 1068e and I can read the smart and temps so I’m trying to figure out if it is the disk shelf or the card or even a limitation in unraid I spoke with a friend that is trying the same thing but with newer netapp shelves and he said he seems to recall reading somewhere that unraid will not read the smart status from disk shelves?

    It will for most, but not for some or all NetApp.
