failing drive ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

N40L

After a power cut I notice one of my drives came back up as "DEVICE IS DISABLED, CONTENTS EMULATED", assuming just a one-off I did a full extended smart test on the drive, and it came up with no issues.

So I removed and added the drive to resync the array , and the resync failed after several hours with a write error.

Does this look like a disk fail, or do I need to check cables etc.

Thanks.

syslog. Full diagnostic attached.

its unrecoverable bad sector, i would replace with new drive then try to play with this one. its suspect anyway. asap as you might have the second drive from the same production batch

Its not responding to Smart now...

20 month old Seagate IronWolf , when all the other drives are older. Looks like I'm off to the shops.

Disk dropped offline, check/replace cables and see if you can get a SMART report.
